    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss Donald Trump’s recent interview on Twitter (does ANYONE actually call it “X”?) and whether or not social media has finally surpassed TV as the place where the most eyeballs land when something important happens.

Then, it’s a discussion of the brand new SNL movie coming October 11th — the preview has sparked a lot of debate online as to whether or not this thing looks worthwhile and the gang weighs in with their thoughts on the matter.

PLUS: British and Teen Corner, a discussion of the filmography of Doug Liman, and, on the 20th anniversary of Lost, a quick list of our favorite pilot episodes of all time!
    It’s another CAN’T MISS EPISODE!

Episode 100: The Hundredth Episode Spectacular! Aug 07, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Jay, and Rhea are back for the one hundredth time to talk all things television with you! Jay is performing on a cruise ship, out to sea, for the entire month, but that doesn't stop him from going into a in-depth discussion of how important 100 episodes used to mean in the era of broadcast TV. Further, with the diminished importance of the all business model (broadcast TV for 100 episodes and then syndication until the heat death of the universe), the gang delves into how that affects the type of shows that gets made.
Then, Jay reads a piece of fan mail in its entirety (a new segment, so make sure you send your fan mail in at the link above to get your words on the show), which leads to a discussion of the dumbest reasons we've ever disliked a celebrity. It won't surprise you that Angelo leads the way in that department.
All that PLUS, British and Teen corner, Angelo's Top Five shows to Binge, and a discussion about what makes for a great SNL actor.
You're gonna want to listen RIGHT NOW!

Episode 99: The Olympics, Deadpool, and Pete Rose Jul 31, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss the incredible increase in ratings the Olympics have been getting and what the reason for that might be. Angelo, though, is not one of the millions watching, however, and he tells the story of why he'll never watch the Olympics again.
The gang also discusses the new documentary, Charlie Hustle, about the life and times of Pete Rose and his desperate attempt to make it in the hall of fame. It's a sad story that you have trouble feeling any emotion about because Pete Rose is such an unlikeable guy.
All that, PLUS: a review of Deadpool and Wolverine, a discussion of Siskel and Ebert's contribution to television, and a review of the new Louis CK documentary, Sorry Not Sorry.
It's another HUGE show that you won't want to miss!

Episode 98: Joe Biden, Skip Bayless, and Jake Paul Jul 24, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Rhea and Angelo join jay from their respective shore houses to discuss Joe Biden dropping out of the race for president: how TV had an impact on his decision and what having a newer, younger candidate might do for the ratings of the Democratic National Convention.
Then, it's a discussion about Jake Paul's transition from Disney star to YouTuber and now to boxer. His upcoming fight with Mike Tyson (yes, 59 year old Mike Tyson) will be on Netflix in November and the gang tries to figure out what this means in terms of the health of professional boxing.
All that PLUS: British and Teen corner, a review of both Love on the Spectrum and Twisters, and a deep dive on Skip Bayless being let go from FS1 and apparently unwelcome on ESPN.

Episode 97: Morning Joe, Billy Joel, and Howard Eskin Jul 17, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss the insane decision by MSNBC to take Morning Joe off the air in the wake of the attempt on Donald Trump's life. Angelo discusses his various run-ins with "suits" who didn't want him to discuss certain things on air before uncontrollably diving into the latest controversy at his former employers! You WON'T want to miss this!
Then, Angelo reveals what The Bear has taught him about television and, surprisingly enough, Jay agrees with hit on it, giving the two of them a moment of unity about that show.
All that PLUS: Billy Joel's Vienna is a surprise hit among the teens, Rhea's British corner, MLB's All Star game, and Angelo actually went to the movies!

Episode 96: Box Office, The Bear, and Beverly Hills Cop Jul 10, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Rhea Hughes is BACK and ready to discuss with Angelo and Jay the big news about the box office: movies are popular again, with Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4 earning huge grosses. But the news isn't all rosy -- last week, out of the $150 million earned at the theater, only 8% went to movies that weren't a prequel or a sequel. We keep saying that people want original movies with good stories... but maybe we're wrong?
Then Rhea is moved to tears talking about The Bear -- but not for the reasons you think. It's honestly one of the most touching and poignant moments in the history of the show and it's a must listen.
All that, PLUS: the return of British and Teen corner, a review of Ezra by Jay, a discussion about the Paramount/SkyDance merger, a list of TV shows that became great when nobody was looking, and Jay feels bad about his Judge Reinhold joke (seriously).

Episode 95: The Bear is Back! Jul 03, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo and Jay are alone this week to discuss the strange new direction that The Bear has decided to take in Season Three. Here's a spoiler: one of them loved it and the other hated it. The discussion about the show is spoiler free up until 7:40. Then there are light spoilers through until minute 14, so if you don't want any hints at all about the season, you'll want to skip ahead.
THEN, Angelo gives a breakdown of Biden's debate performance last week, the boys have a discussion of The Wonder Years and the brand new stand-up comedy movie, Ezra, and Keane Black joins us to discuss the new Emma Stone movie, Kinds of Kindness.
It's another ACTION PACKED episode that you won't want to miss!

Episode 94: The Presidential Debate, Stephen A. Smith, and Penthouse Jun 26, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Jay, and Rhea are back with a discussion about the reports that Stephen A. Smith is on the verge of signing a $90 million deal with ESPN, even as the sports giant continues layoffs in front of and behind the camera. Is he worth that kind of money? Angelo and Rhea have thoughts!
Then, the gang discusses the upcoming presidential debate and the decision by CNN to run commercials during it. Does this undermine the impartiality of a newsworthy event, or were commercials always an inevetibility?
All that PLUS the Emmy's decision to include some YouTube programming in their awards, British and Teen corner, and a review of the new documentary about Penthouse Magazine.

Episode 93: Star Wars, The NBA Finals, and The Boys Jun 19, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Jay and Rhea discuss the flailing NBA ratings (and the surprisingly good NHL ratings) and try to get to the bottom of why people aren't tuning in just as the NBA is on the precipice of signing a $76 Billion broadcast deal.
Then, the gang discuss the weird review bombing that's happening for shows like Star Wars and The Boys. Nerds are unhappy at the perceived politics of these shows and they're making the screechy voices heard... do review sites have an obligation to police these manipulations?
All that PLUS British Corner, Teen Corner, a review of Presumed Innocent, a discussion of the economics of NBC's decision to drop the band from Seth Meyers's show, and much MUCH more!

Episode 92: The Phillies are in London and so is Rhea! Jun 12, 2024
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Our special British correspondent, Rhea Hughes, joins us all the way from England to give Jay and Angelo a breakdown of what the coverage of Major League Baseball was like on the other side of the pond while Angelo gives a breakdown of how Fox handled the event here in America.
Then, the gang talks about Rob Schneider being kicked off the stage during a charity event in Canada and who is to blame when a comic's show goes off the rails.
All that, plus British corner, a review of the new MoviePass documentary on Max, and Angelo explains why cord cutting is dumb!
