    Show notes

Jimbo welcomes Daniel Storey, Matt Davies-Adams and Colin Millar into the pod after another pulsating Premier League weekend.

Chelsea breeze past Arsenal at the Emirates with Lukaku scoring and immediately looking like the reference point for this side. The performance – and his personality – could be daunting for the rest of the Premier League. And how did Arsenal become so mediocre?

It’s a 100% record for Graham Potter’s side too. But Bissouma still being at Brighton is baffling our panel. Should Solskjaer have started Sancho and Varane at Southampton? And are the margins so tight that United will rue the points dropped at St Mary’s?

Nick Miller fills us in on Nuno’s winning return to Molineux. And Colin offers up an impassioned defence of the Europa Conference League

Plus Livramento, Coventry and Savage’s son.

    RUNNING ORDER:

    • PART 1a: Arsenal 0-2 Chelsea (05m 00s)

    • PART 1b: Routine wins for City & Liverpool (17m 00s)

    Miss! Miss! Aug 16, 2021
    Show notes

The opening weekend of the new Premier League season doesn’t disappoint. Drinking it in with Jimbo are Carl Anka, Sasha Goryunov and Daniel Storey.

Tottenham defeat champions Man City in a dream start for Nuno in North London. Will that inspire City to go and get Harry Kane? Or should they be spending that money on a left-back and a defensive midfielder?

Manchester United thrash Leeds 5-1. Imagine how good they’ll be once they put Sancho and Varane in that team. And Brentford provide the feel-good story of the weekend.

Elsewhere where is the Arsenal leadership? Can Villa create a whole new attack without Grealish? Will Everton fans learn to love resilient Rafa?

Plus we pay tribute to the goal-hanger’s goal-hanger Gerd Muller. And Sasha bemoans the state of Russian football.

The Premier League season is almost upon us and Jimbo is joined by the excited trio of Dom Fifield, Natalie Gedra and Tom Williams.

The headline fixture of the opening weekend is Tottenham hosting Man City. If City don’t sign Harry Kane, does that hurt their championship chances? Will European champions Chelsea take the title with their incredible squad depth?

Further down the table, there are big questions to be answered. Do Everton represent the biggest challenge of Benitez’s career? Are Palace fans right to be optimistic about Patrick Vieira? How much are Southampton gambling with their transfer policy?

Billy Grant from the Beesotted podcast joins us on the eve of Brentford’s Premier League bow against Arsenal. And are Norwich about to surprise us all?
