    Man City’s catharsis, Toney’s ban and Kane’s future May 18, 2023
    Show notes

Jimbo is joined by Carl Anka, Rory Smith and Duncan Alexander as the Champions League and Championship play-off finals become set in stone.

Man City demolish holders Real Madrid 4-0 to set up a meeting with Inter in Istanbul. One of the most dominant performances at this stage of the competition imaginable and a symbol of the super powerful structure that City have become. Where next for Los Blancos?

Where next for Coventry City? Wembley for an unlikely play-off final with Luton for a place in the Premier League, where nostalgia will be the winner.

The weekend’s Premier League action won’t feature Ivan Toney, after he’s banned for 8 months for 232 breaches of the FA’s gambling rules.

But it will feature potentially the title, top 4 and relegation all being decided. And maybe Harry Kane’s last home game for Spurs?

Rory takes on Sasha Goryunov in the second quarter-final of the Inter Totally Cup.

Plus Forest’s small pitch and the Man United sale. Ends this Friday.

    Produced by Charlie Jones.

Barcelona win La Liga, Bayern and Dortmund win big and a big semi-final week in Europe May 16, 2023
    Show notes

Jimbo, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo are spread out across Europe as we reach crunch time in the continent.

Man City host Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final. Is it a coin toss as to who goes through? Meanwhile Inter have the advantage of Milan. Romelu Lukaku apparently has a 6/10 chance of staying at Inter, while Rafael Leao will probably feature for Milan at 60% fitness.

Barcelona are La Liga champions for the first time in 4 years, although they’re chased off the pitch after winning against city rivals Espanyol.

It’s still neck and neck in the Bundesliga with Bayern and Dortmund dishing out drubbings, as Thomas Muller’s future continues to dominate discussion in Bavaria.

Plus the anti-homophobia campaign in Ligue 1, Sampdoria heading for insolvency and of course, Eurovision.

Produced by Ben Green, Jay Beale and Charlie Jones.

Man City battle back at the Bernabeu. What next at Goodison? May 11, 2023
    Show notes

It’s Jimbo, Jack Lang, Duncan Alexander and Charlie Eccleshare at The Athletic studios and very much in the business end of the season.

The panel very much enjoyed Real Madrid’s draw with Man City in the Champions League semi-finals but will Sean Dyche’s Everton blow the title race wide open on Sunday? And is Carlo Ancelotti Brazil-bound?

Inter take a two-goal advantage into the second leg of the other semi after a very bad night for Milan’s defence.

In the Premier League, we look at the battle at the bottom and look ahead to the Conference League play-off between Villa and Spurs.

There’s a segment of appreciation for Sergio Busquets who’s leaving Barcelona, before the final Inter Totally Cup first round match-up between Jack and Jay Harris.

    Show notes

It’s Jimbo in the company of Tim Spiers, Tom Williams and many more after one of the most remarkable days in Premier League history.

The table is turned on its head. Everton fans thought they might be gone but another un-Dyche-like performance sees them run out 5-1 winners at Brighton.

Forest are also out of the relegation zone after edging a 7 goal thriller against doomed Southampton. Is sticking with the manager about to pay off for them and West Ham?

Leicester concede 5 at Fulham as they slip into the drop zone. Would Brendan Rodgers have done any worse?

There’s an incredible finale in the Championship with Sunderland stealing into the play-offs at the expense of Millwall and Blackburn.

Jimbo is joined by Duncan Alexander, Adrian Clarke and Sasha Goryunov in a week of yet more managerial upheaval.

Leeds replace Javi Gracia with Sam Allardyce for the final 4 matches of the season. Is Big Sam as good as he says he is? And could we see yet more managerial changes in the Premier League this season?

The panel debate Frank Lampard’s future in management after a 6th defeat in a row against Arsenal at the Emirates. Plus there’s a guy at the Etihad who’s breaking records as Man City stay top of the table.

Bayern go top of the Bundesliga again as Dortmund are victims of a controversial penalty decision at Bochum. Meanwhile Rapha explains Fortuna Dusseldorf’s plans to start letting their fans in for free.

Napoli were 6 minutes away from sealing the Scudetto in Naples on Sunday. The locals will have to wait a bit longer before they start setting off volcanoes.
