Episode 221: Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II May 11, 2026

Show notes

While prom season may be in the rearview, we’re not done celebrating because this week on the show we’re talking none other than the absolutely maniacal Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II. Make no mistake: while this one may sound like another typical cheesy ‘80s slasher, it is anything but. Amazing special effects, unhinged performances, and truly jaw-dropping lines of dialogue make it stand out above its peers. So shove those Duraflame logs under your lighter fluid dress and grab your Diet Pepsi as we discuss Mary Lou and all her antics. Plus, Nathan’s incredible Wal-Mart story, the definitive worst band, and of course Prom Bon Jovi’s classic hit “It’s Prom Night” all await you. We promise you won’t want to miss this one.

Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II stars Michael Ironside, Wendy Lyon, Justin Louis, Lisa Schrage, and Richard Monette. Directed by Bruce Pittman.

Episode 220: Bugonia Apr 27, 2026

Show notes

Conspiracy theories appear to be on the rise these past few years as seemingly everything is a contrived plot by the rich and powerful to trick the general public into…something. Bugonia explores that idea to the extreme while still maintaining Yorgos Lanthimos’s dark comedic sensibilities and sharp direction. What happens when someone who’s deep in the rabbit hole decides to enact a plan to prove their theory by any means necessary? Turns out it doesn’t go quite as expected. So put on your tinfoil hats and inject those nondescript chemicals (and our episode) directly into your veins as we discuss the movie, plus corporate apology tours (looking at you, Burger King), mailing live insects to your friends, the canon event that is Movie 43, and so much more.

Bugonia stars Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, Alicia Silverstone, and J. Carmen Galindez Barrera. Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

Episode 219: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (with John Houzer) Apr 13, 2026

Show notes

We’re continuing the theme of “rebirth” on the podcast as we revisit one of the more maligned films in the X-Men cinematic universe. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was supposed to set up a new branch of films exploring…well, the origins of the X-Men. But this one was panned by both critics and audiences, so Fox did a reset and gave us First Class after instead. However, if you haven’t revisited Origins in a while, it may be time to do so because this one is probably better than you remember (minus that entire third act.) So settle in to a nice adamantium bath and light up a cigar as we tear into the film, plus discuss such topics as the chokehold the Black Eyed Peas had on America in the aughts, how the X-Men could have prevented 9/11, the now decanonized Punch Dimension, and so much more with returning guest and X-Men “lover” John Houzer.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine stars Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Lynn Collins, and will.i.am. Directed by Gavin Hood.

Episode 218: Halloween: Resurrection (with Michael Moss) Mar 30, 2026

Show notes

Easter is next week which makes it the perfect time to discuss the time one of the members of the Mount Rushmore of slashers was reborn – kind of. We’re of course talking about 2002’s Halloween: Resurrection. If you haven’t seen it in a while, it may be time to revisit it so you can adjust your rankings of the Halloween films accordingly because this has to be the worst of the bunch. Half-baked characters and awful cinematography doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of this dreadful movie. That being said, our episode is way more enjoyable than whatever it is Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks are producing (which isn’t saying much, but, you get it.) Tune in as we discuss how Loomis would appeal to Gens Z and Alpha, Tracy Morgan playing Michael Myers, and of course MrBeast hosting season 2 of Dangertainment. All of that and more with returning guest Michael Moss. Trick or treat, motherf----r!

Halloween: Resurrection stars Busta Rhymes, Bianca Kajlich, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Ryan Merriman, Sean Patrick Thomas, Tyra Banks, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Directed by Rick Rosenthal.

Episode 217: Saint Maud Mar 16, 2026

Show notes

Not every A24 horror flick is a slam dunk. Such is the case with Love Lies Bleeding director Rose Glass’s first film Saint Maud. Despite a fantastic lead performance and incredible imagery, the movie spends 80 minutes spinning its wheels before suddenly revealing an explosive ending that almost makes up for the lack of story that came before it - but not quite. So sit back and witness the tale of Saint Maud as we discuss the movie, plus Maud’s Creed-inspired wings, what JT’s initials actually stand for, and of course, Bea Arthur as Maude.

Saint Maud stars Morfydd Clark, Jennifer Ehle, Lily Knight, Lily Frazer, and Turlough Convery. Directed by Rose Glass.

Silver Linings Special: Undertone trailer reaction Mar 09, 2026

Show notes

In a short bonus episode to hold you over until our newest episode drops next Monday, we’re responding to a request we received to react to the trailers for the new A24 horror flick entitled Undertone, which debuts this Friday the 13th. Described as a psychological and supernatural horror film about a host of a popular paranormal podcast who becomes haunted by terrifying recordings mysteriously sent her way, in this Silver Linings Special you can hear us react to both trailers for the film, as well as discuss “8D” audio, those apps that let you “communicate with ghosts” all over the App Store, and, of course, everyone’s favorite Italian dish: Labububabadookinamuumuu. Watch along with us on YouTube or simply listen to the trailer with us as we react to it.

And if you’re curious about the 8D audio track we play, the real song is entitled “Hood Baby” by KBFR. You can find the music video for the stereo version here.

And the “8D audio” version here.

Undertone stars Nina Kiri, Adam DiMarco, Michèle Duquet, Keana Bastidas, Jeff Yung, and Ryan Turner. Directed by Ian Tuason.

Episode 216: Scream 4 (with Ashley Simmons) Mar 02, 2026

Show notes

There’s a new Scream flick in theaters right now, and while that film is what most of the fans are talking about, we’re throwing it back to 2011 to dissect the very mid Scream 4. Released over a decade after the original three films, this one suffers from an identity crisis and fails to justify its existence in the overstuffed remake/reboot crowd of the time. Does this movie have anything to say about the then-current state of horror? We’ll let you know as we discuss the film, plus our twist on a Punk’d revival, David Arquette’s strange puppet bar, and Dustin’s inability to physically see any woman who isn’t his wife (“lady blindness”). All of that and a lot more with returning guest Ashley Simmons.

Scream 4 stars Kristen Bell, Rory Culkin, Anthony Anderson, Alison Brie, Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts, Neve Campbell, Anna Paquin, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox. Directed by Wes Craven.
