Smokey Jones Jumps in the Rotation Jun 01, 2026
    Show notes

Smokey Jones Smoke Shop has made its name in Tampa Bay not just through its products, but by fostering community and culture. Their marketing game is anything but conventional: they routinely host high-profile rapper meet-and-greets that energize the local scene. For example, on February 20, 2025, Smokey Jones welcomed Juvenile of the Hot Boys for an exclusive appearance—planned just ahead of the group’s blockbuster concert the next day. Beyond celebrity drop-ins, they also organize the annual Smokey Jones Smoke Shop Festival, held in November, and other in-store events, like Burn & Boom on July 4th and their annual Back 2 School "500+ Backpack Giveaway" held every August, turning their locations into cultural hubs that promote the lifestyle as much as the products. What truly sets the store apart is its forward-leaning approach to products. Smokey Jones was among the first smoke shops in Tampa Bay to offer hemp-derived goods, constantly pushing into new categories with an eye for cutting-edge trends—from vape tech and premium glass to those pioneering hemp lines. Their fearless pursuit of cool, in-demand products has reinforced their reputation as innovators and trendsetters in the local retail landscape. But, even trailblazers hit turbulence. On April 15, 2025, the Tampa Police Department raided Smokey Jones Smoke Shop and seized over $200,000 worth of hemp-derived products, which owner Dannie Jones asserts were fully legal and properly licensed. Dannie turned himself in following the raid and publicly denied wrongdoing, calling the accusations “ridiculous” and reaffirming that the store was operating within the bounds of state law.

Pete Sessa Jumps in the Rotation Jun 01, 2026
    Show notes

Founder of Cannadelic cohosts the next episode!!! Born on 4/20, Pete Sessa is a leading voice in cannabis and psychedelic culture, known for building platforms that center truth, transparency, and community over ego. Sessa’s journey with plant medicine started as self-medication in high school as a way to quiet a mind that wouldn’t slow down. A cannabis activist since 1993, Sessa’s psychedelic awakening came in the form of a transformational psilocybin experience in college through which he discovered two things: how marketing works and… mushrooms make you smarter. (Fast forward a few decades and the FMRIs prove it.) Sessa used what he learned during that mushroom journey to build a career as a marketing and events executive in NYC. While successful, he was not fulfilled. So he quit. And moved to Florida. Starting over, Sessa married his experience producing large-scale events at the GRAMMY Awards and Super Bowl, with his passion for plant medicine to co-found the Florida Cannabis Coalition in 2014. The company launched a wave of events that helped shape Florida’s cannabis industry before it was legal. That groundwork, which included 9 cannabis conventions and 150+ networking events, ultimately led to Cannadelic, a first-of-its-kind event that united cannabis and psychedelics under one roof, drawing over 25,000 attendees from 32 countries since 2022.
