The Learning Curve: Hoover at Stanford’s Peter Berkowitz on Reclaiming Liberal Education in America Oct 14, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of The Learning Curve, co-hosts Prof. Albert Cheng of The Ohio State University and Pioneer Senior Fellow Steven Wilson, speak with Dr. Peter Berkowitz, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and author ofReclaiming Liberal Education in America. Berkowitz reflects on the education that led him from Swarthmore College to the study of philosophy, political science, and law. He explains the ancient Greek meaning of “know thyself” and how Socratic inquiry seeks to understand universal questions about human nature, virtue, justice, and the good life. He distinguishes liberal education from a relativistic one, arguing that students should learn to question authority while cultivating moral virtues and respect for the law. Drawing on the examples of Frederick Douglass and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., he discusses how Americans can pursue civic reforms through the nation’s Founding principles and upholding constitutionalism. Finally, Dr. Berkowitz reads a passage from his book Reclaiming Liberal Education in America.

The Conservative Woman’s Guide: Jayme Franklin: Young Women Needed Better Media, So I Built The Conservateur Oct 14, 2026
    Show notes

When mainstream women's media left conservative women behind, Jayme Franklin and her co-founder Isabelle Redfield decided to create The Conservateur. What began as a passion project during their time at UC Berkeley has grown into one of the most influential platforms for conservative women, blending politics, fashion, beauty, and traditional values. Jayme joins guest host Emma DeGrado to share how she weathered intense backlash after launching The Conservateur in 2020 and earned a seat at the table in the new media landscape.
Emma and Jayme dive into why aesthetics matter in the policy world, the rise of socialism among Gen Z, and how conservative media can better reach young women. Jayme shares her perspective on encouraging marriage and motherhood, balancing a growing media career with family life, and a new pro-family policy proposal that she developed with her husband. From navigating online criticism to making her voice heard in Washington, Jayme offers advice to young women looking to build meaningful careers without compromising their values.

Heritage Explains: Why is France on Fire? | Nile Gardiner Oct 14, 2026
    Show notes

It’s a day ending in Y in France, which means rioting.
Following in the spirit of 1789, the French are burning buildings, fighting the police, and overall behaving very poorly.
This time, the revolutionaries are highschoolers joined by Islamo-communists and anarchists waving Palestinian flags, but France has seen this style of faux revolution before. The rioters are the proud heirs of May ’68, an event that looms so large in the French psyche, the mere mention of soixante-huitards, or 68ers, is enough to spark furious debate.
Against the smoke and sirens lies a bigger question over whether France’s current system can hold. French presidential elections are coming soon, and far-left leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon wants to replace the Fifth Republic with a Sixth, led by, in his words, créolisation. By contrast, leader of the right-wing Marine Le Pen represents a nationalist defense of the old France, but both movements are deeply skeptical of the European Union.
That’s a lot to cover. And who better to navigate us through some French politics than a Brit? My conversation with Nile Gardiner, Director of The Heritage Foundation’s Margaret Thatcher Center.

Daily Signal: Victor Davis Hanson: Should the Fort Hood Terrorist Be Publicly Executed? Oct 13, 2026
    Show notes

The proposed execution of Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Hasan has sparked controversy over whether the military should carry out the sentence by firing squad and make it public.

Victor Davis Hanson revisits the 2009 massacre that killed 13 American soldiers, criticizing the Obama administration's response, the military's failure to act on warning signs, and the role of political correctness in the aftermath.

Hanson also takes aim at Hillary Clinton for calling the proposed execution barbaric, contrasting her outrage with her role in the U.S. intervention in Libya and her infamous reaction to Muammar Gaddafi's brutal death.

Alliance Defending Freedom - Alliance Defending Freedom is gathering 100,000 signatures on a petition to get the disturbing Rights, Respect, and Responsibility program out of schools and to protect parents' right to direct their kids' education.
