It’s an interesting time to be a Miami Hurricane! We’re 1-1 and have played the toughest schedule in all of college football, yet, you are hearing calls for firings. So, where does this program and more importantly, Manny Diaz stand as Michigan State comes to town? We get into all of that.
Also, it’s the first ever OBB Tailgate happening Saturday! We’ll be set up in the East lot, keep it locked to twitter for our exact location. We’ll have booze and tons of Costco Muffins! Come grab one!

The Miami Hurricanes beat App State 25-23 last night in front of 45,000 at The Rock! While it was a WIN, it was about as unsatisfying a W as you will see. The OBB’s took major exceptions with the offense and Rhett Lashlee. Before the game they said it was the most important game in Manny Diaz’s career…How’d that go?

Listen, we said Bama was a one-off…Let’s move on. Our Canes have a test Saturday night at The Rock. In fact, Scoop said it’s the biggest game of Manny Diaz’s career. There wasn’t any pushback on that. It’s year three for Manny as HC and year 6 overall with program. The OBB’s were united, you can’t let Bama beat you twice (good to see Nesta is listening). We talked a lot about the RB’s as well Lashlee’s ‘not conservative’ comment.

It’s been a long wait. The school announced this game years ago, and finally, it’s game week. Our beloved University of Miami Hurricanes will be facing the most dominant program on the planet, the Alabama Crimson Tide. This game has been viewed as the ultimate measuring stick by most of the fanbase. A point where we will be able to see whether this first-time head coach and Miami native has gotten us back on the path to greatness.
The boys give their thoughts on the game. Their fears, hopes, dreams, expectations…the whole deal. There was some disagreement over what the preferred outcome would be if we lose…blow-out or close. Is it possible close lost? The OBB intrepid reporter, I.P. Daley, brought us his first report of the year and had some breaking news about the Florida Gators and QB Emory Jones. Additionally, he had news on how FSU’s Mike Norvell will try and get his squad pumped up pregame for Notre Dame.
The boys also decided it’d be good to get some additional perspective, so we brought in a Miami radio legend and former Canes sideline reporter Brian ‘The Beast’ London. I’m gonna be honest, this got depressing fast, thankfully toast did his best to pull us out of the negative talk by bringing up how badly Kosi is going to shred Florida this weekend.
Lastly, we knocked out some picks and reviewed how we all did last week. Toast got screwed by having to take UConn and they just blow all the ass.

First things first. As promised, at some point during this episode our friend Antwan Staley will come on and answer the question we all want answered…Is he on drugs? (of course, not) But picking FSU to beat Miami? We let him have it and he took it and gave us his thoughts on the game and FSU’s season as a whole.
Then, we went to Greentree to compare our 2-deeps. With all the competition we’ve been hearing about, we thought it would be much harder, but it kinda makes itself. Obviously, our disagreements came at the RB spot due to Chaney missing so much of camp and the LB’s where, well, who the fuck really knows. We also had a bit of a debate about the Safeties…kinda helps if we know what a safety is nowadays!
Somebody sent Ro a question about scheme and he gave a great X’s and Ro. In depth and perfect as always. We didn’t hit the ACC, Big 10 & Pac-12 merger because, who cares? The schedules are basically set for the next 5 years already, not really worth spending time on this week. We’ll tackle that at a later date.

S4 E3 Show Notes – Welcome to OBBMediaInc.com
We opened the show discussing the breaking news of the day, that being an arrest in the Bryan Pata murder case. It’s been a long time coming and while there still has to be a trial, we sincerely hope that this arrest helps provide his family with closure. We will always remember Bryan fondly.
We then headed down to Greentree to discuss the latest camp happenings and got to recap the latest scrimmage. Ro came out pretty high on how good D’Eriq King looked…the word ‘fast’ was used. Also talked about how him being in this Offense for the second year will be huge. Additionally, we talked about the kids and how they have taken this camp by the horns. The three freshman WR’s and then the 2nd year guys like OBB Brand Ambassador Xavier Restrepo. That room is looking strong and we all believe the talent in that room will rise to the top regardless of class.
Ro gave us the details on scrimmage number three and the ramifications of that for certain guys on the roster. Toast asked a question about the PR gig and would you rather have there? Your shutdown CB1 or X? Then we all discussed how much offseason Kool-Aid we’ve all been drinking…the optimism is getting higher by the day. It’s making us nervous because of ya, know, HISTORY lol. We broke down how big this year is for Manny and how close talent-wise this squad is to being in contention. This team is Manny’s, now will the depth chart reflect the competition, that is the question.
Lastly, we spent far too much time discussing the state of the Seminole program. Why? Because three dudes from Athlon pissed us off lol. We need to get our buddy Twan on next episode to answer for this!

We recapped the first 5 sessions of camp. Biggest stories thus far? Freshman 5-star Leonard Taylor is getting lots of love. We had differing opino0ns on how much he’ll see the field this year. Toast was bullish, Scoop, not so much. On the flipside, Toast was concerned with Rhett Lashlee mentioning there had been ‘lots of good and lots of bad’ with the WR’s so far. We didn’t like the bad part. Scoop thinks it’s good. He believes the really good is coming from the underclassmen and they will push the ‘lots of bad’ out the door. We all know who he means.
The boys got in depth on the DL. Toast was pleased Jordan Miller has stopped eating pie. Ro is patting himself on the back, his prediction of us rolling out a defense with 1LB and 7 DB’s seems to be fast approaching. We also talked about being Safety U again as Markieth Williams committed an hour before we recorded.
We looked at ESPN’s Top-50 Newcomers and the three Miami Hurricanes on that list…Toast was surprised Leonard Taylor wasn’t on it. We also broke down the Coaches Poll where Miami cane in at #16.

Yawn…It’s been a wonderfully hot summer, hasn’t it? Our slumber is over and 2021 MIAMI HURRICANES FALL CAMP OPENS TODAY! And with the gates at Greentree opening up, so return the Orange Bowl Boys with another season which will feature all the highs and lows of Miami Hurricanes fandom!
In the season four premiere Toast, Roman and Scoop have a very special announcement regarding our first ever Brand Ambassadors. It’s no secret that the college landscape changed dramatically over the summer with new NIL rules taking effect and basically turning the entire college model we’ve known for so long into a flat-out money grab. Obviously, the OBB wanted to get involved and with the assistance of the GOAT of podcast sponsors, Ed Morse Automotive Group, Scoop flashed enough cash to get a couple of dudes to sign up with us…it’s going to be AWESOME!
Now, onto the good stuff…CAMP! Once again Manny killed the offseason…just slaughtered it. Optimism is high among all three of us but there’s that one giant question mark that continues to hang over Manny’s term as HC…Is this the year he conquers it?
We go over both sides of the ball. Scoop asks Ro flat out, can Nesta be the next great Cane tackle? You may be surprised by Ro’s answer on that one. One thing we all agreed on, having a legit shut down corner for the first time in forever is going to be so much fun. It will really allow Manny the DC to get creative. Can Manny the HC be as good as Manny the DC? Will Manny the DC make Manny the HC’s job easier?
