This week we for you Nate Smith reprising his conducting skills. He is joined with Cindy Plaza, Josh Entner, and Cynthia McDonald. With lots of blood,sweat, and tears, let’s into the articles.
First up, Yee haw down to the Lone Star state where I am sure everything is progressing just fine, right? Hmm, a judge is blocking preventive HIV medication? On religious grounds? But, why? This one is deeply rooted for many of our hosts due to professional and personal reasons. Personal as this decision seems it is targeted on the LGBT community. The funny thing is that the actual numbers of new HIV cases doesn’t support what they think it will do. This will make it much harder on caregivers deep in the heart of Texas.
Up next, Holy Cow Batman! Seems like a sickness is mooving through the cattle population in India! It is a disease that in other countries would be stopped in its hooves by culling the cows and having a massive burger BBQ [citation needed] (do not try this at home). There is just one little problem within India. That has to do with cows being sacred by the Hindu faith. This highly contagious disease is costing India billions. So our Non-Prophets come up with a little suggestion. However, it’s not very likely India is going to change their faith any time soon. Guess we can’t have these cows man!
Well while we are jumping all over the world let’s check in with the Big Sky Country state of Montana! This was originally going to be a Step in the Right Direction. Then lawmakers got into the mix and well everything started to get messy. You see, one of the many obstacles trans people have is their birth certificate. A judge thought it was cool for transpeople to make that change, but hours later the state said nuh-uh! So a back and forth fight is on the way while people who just want to live their lives hang in the balance.
Lastly, we got a question for you. What are you doing in 2070? Well according to pew research what you won’t be doing is praying to the Christian god. That is the predicted turning point where the Christian population will fall below 50%. Our Non-Prophets are a little divided on this. Some think Christianity is going to fall faster, others think we are 100 years or more away from that turning point. Let’s ask Punxsutawney Phil. If he sees Christ’s shadow we will have another 2000 years of Christianity, if now secularism is just around the corner!

First up, the bans on abortions are still marching forward. So are the people trying to defend rights to choose. Even those who are not exactly heroes of abortions are joining in saying the total bans are way too extreme. Not even carve outs for rape or incest are safe. Is this going to fracture the issue and cause battle lines to be drawn in each party? Hard to say. Maybe the enemy of my enemy of their enemy of your enemy can pull themselves out of their own backside to do something? What a mess.
Next up! Shhhhh if you listen closely you can hear exactly what agendas are being proposed. Just kidding you don’t have to be quiet at all because Dalton Clodfelter sure isn’t. He has become the latest in a ever growing list of shit sayers, saying the quiet things very loud indeed. It is to the point he wants to arrest with everyone who doesn’t think the say way he does. What does this list include? Well, let’s just say that if he got his wish, over 75% of the country will be behind bars.
Ok now let’s all open up our non-existent books to page 69 and read how some activists want to ban books that are not even on the shelves of libraries. Are we still talking about school libraries where we need to think of the children? Nope. So what gives? It seems that some titles are so very scary that people want to ban them before libraries are even able to stock them. You know, the ban on books seems so silly when PDFs exist.
Finally, get out your debunking tools it seems Christian Nationalists are trying once again to say the United States is a Christian nation. Claims of scripture being all throughout the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution keep failing. When pressed no one can cite the passage in either document in reference to The Bible. Yet this claim persists. Come on, show me where in The Bible it says We The People!

What an interesting show from the past we have for you this week. You see we sometimes record an episode and keep it in the vault on the off chance that something happens and we cannot get a show out to you. Now not to worry nothing happened this week, but we do want to air out the vault just to keep things somewhat fresh. So that is what we got for you this week. From the way back in the day of June we present to you R Kelley Laughlin, Mateo Montero, Pseudonymousaurus Rex, and I am conducting! So let’s get into it!
First up, we talk about New York passing a secular addiction recovery bill. This bill allows tax payer money to go toward secular recovery options as well as the old school and hidden Christian indoc… I mean program of Alcoholics Anonymous! To be clear we don’t just bash on AA and Kelley has a few things to say on it, but we still see this as a Step In The Right Direction. No Cynthia though. I wonder if anyone is going to step up and sing it for her?
Continuing on the mental health care note, we look into some of the religious barriers for people getting help. These barriers might be stigma or as means of a religion to control its people. Seriously though if you need help you should get help. If anyone is telling you that you don’t and you still are feeling it. GET HELP!
Next up, let’s all take a trip over to India. Well maybe not all of us. Actually, it might be getting concerning for any of us. You see a historically secular government is taking a drastic turn toward Hinduism. Right now they seem to be focusing all their xenophobia on Muslims who stayed on the India side after the Partition. However, they are also trying to take rights away from anyone who isn’t Hindu. So at least the United States isn’t the only one going to a Theocracy?
Lastly, do we have some new evidence that proves old evolution ideas? Well, maybe. There was a discredited idea from the 1800s that is getting a new lease thanks to some new discoveries. They haven’t been fully proven yet so we are still going on the tried and true Theory of Evolution by means of Natural Selection. We discuss a bit about what that means and then congratulate science in making better science. We also show that The Bible still fails to disprove science. Don’t worry theists, I am sure someone will find a challenge to evolution in the Bible. NOT!

Next up, we Step in the Right Direction because Virginia just approved Gender dysphoria care is now covered by disability law! This is a great move seeing that Virginia is a quantum political experiment existing in both conservative and liberal spaces and only breaks down when you try to observe it. Can this, will this be a model for other states to build up other laws? Only time, and your vote will say for sure!
Now, ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FUTBOL! Oh wait, not NFL? Dang, and I was so hoping I got that sportsball reference right. Unfortunately, this is about Soccer (or what the rest of the world calls football) and the World Cup missing the GOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLL…. A gay man from Uatar is sounding the alarm about LGBT oppression and I am sure FIFA is going to handle this controversy with swift action and dignity to all as they are known to do right?

Lastly, what goes around comes around. Remember how Texas (and a few other states) want to ban books that have questionable content that parents don’t want their children exposed to? Well it seems that a Florida activist was able to use their own policy against then and got Bibles pulled from school libraries. Some thing this is a great idea, others think this would still do harm, others think this is funny as hell. No mater where you stand on this issue, just know knowledge is power.
Now if you excuse me I need to put on my big purple velvet coat, lace up my platform shoes with goldfish residing in them, the shine up my pinkie rings because it’s time to head out into town and shout to the churches, “B!tch better have my tithing!” See you next week!

How can someone be so mature that they can carry a child to term, but they are not mature enough to have an abortion? What kind of bizzarro logic is that? That seems to be exactly what Florida is saying when a 16 year old is telling them she is not ready to have a baby. This is an absolute heartbreaking story that in some states wouldn’t have even been a blip on the news cycle. Now every victim of circumstance becomes the biggest national issue.

Speaking of Christians, we look into how Christian Nationalism has gone mainstream. Yes, yes, the Lamestream media is now filled with hatred and your favorite congresspeople MTG and Boebert are leading the charge. I’m sure they are just happy they can finally say their quiet parts loud and proud?
Lastly, we take a bit of a Looking Back at the creating of the Royal Observatory and a few of their discoveries. These discoveries would go on to teach generations about our world, the universe, and our place in it. Bringing out the truth of our universe starting, and what the Bible thinks happens. Lessons that will stand the test of time, until YouTube starts to exist…. Oops.

I got to tell ya. It’s a God Eat God World Out There. This week we got Secular Rarity leading a mostly British panel in Phoebe Rose and Richard Gilliver. Will They force poor Secular Rarity into appreciating tea and using nothing but metric, or is SR going to throw his own Boston Tea Party? Nah, likely they are going to have an amazing discussion over this weeks topics. Let’s get in it.
First up, POPE WATCH! If it is one thing the Vatican doesn’t like it’s gays. No wait, If it is one thing the Vatican doesn’t like it’s people having the right to choose. Sorry, let me try this again. If it is one thing the Vatican doesn’t it’s competition! Seems like the German Catholic movement is getting a little too progressive for Pope Francis’ liking. So they are trying to pump the brakes on them.
While we are on the topic of a movement not wanting to follow lock step, down there in Florida…. Hold on, please tell me this ISN’T a Florida Man story. Well kinda. Unlike our friends over there in Germany seems like Florida churches want to break away because Methodists are too progressive for them. In the land of sun, alligators, and god it seems like messages of love and inclusion want to fall on deaf and likely sun burnt ears.
Up next, can we get some victim blaming up in here? Texas floated a proposal to change the teachings of slavery. They thought it would reduce their guilt of they changed the term to “involuntary relocation”. Yes, changing the language of horrible history allows you to ignore the past. Then while you are doing that, maybe you can repeat it! No? They don’t think that is what is going to happen? Really, well what would be stopping them then? This one does have a happy ending, but we should all be on alert because I won’t be surprised if we hear this story again.
Finally, Verizon takes a Step in the Right Direction by removing One America “News” Network from their services. Verizon was the last network to do so, and we look into the actual motives of this move. Will they find a new home in the vast wasteland that is the Internet? Anything is possible I guess. For right now let’s take solace in hate losing a platform and keep fighting for love to find away!

We are fully in the dog days of summer and things are heating up! Good thing we got a cool panel for this week of The Non-Prophets. We welcome back Laura Magee in the hot seat with ExXtian Erin from Truth Wanted and Nate Smith from Secular Sexuality. I’m sure this will go well for it.
First up we hear some Shit Internet Apologist Say. We look into Pastor Creflo Dollar and his ideas on tithing So what does dollar dollar billz ya want? Oh, more money! That make cents. Wait…. Dang it. I got my mind on my money and my money on my mind. Let’s just hope his moral check doesn’t bounce.
Next up… oh boy this is heavy. This is about some of the aftermath of a 10 year old rape victim crossing state lines and having a doctor perform her abortion. We knew the story wouldn’t end there. Seems the Indiana Attorney General is really worried about the paperwork filed by this doctor and wants to levy criminal charges against her for not filing in time. Then because of the charged atmosphere it becomes a media circus.
Now we head down to Texas! Oh wait, ahhem, you all know what is coming up. The Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the Biden administration over the executive order giving abortion guidance. We just talked about him signing last week! Did the Non-Prophet’s turn into prophets saying that it would likely be challenged? Nah, we just know how history goes…
Ok Michigan wrap up this week for us. In Grand Rapids a new wedding venue listed out its policy on LGBT weddings. They are saying no. Oh come on guys! Well this sparked protests and other people taking almost stands. I mean it’s not like they are going to do a coat/gay check at the door. Well not until the Supreme Court makes LGBT life illegal, but I might be getting ahead of myself.
