Show notes
Which SEC football teams are headed for a shocking upset in 2026?
On Episode 5 of The Connor O’Gara Show, Connor is joined by Ryan Brown to make bold SEC preseason predictions and identify the potential trap games that could turn the College Football Playoff race upside down.
Could Florida stun Ole Miss in Gainesville one week after the Rebels’ emotional showdown with LSU? Can Texas A&M walk into Tuscaloosa and defeat Alabama? Is Arkansas capable of upsetting Tennessee in Fayetteville?
Connor also predicts that Oklahoma will become the SEC’s ultimate “agent of chaos”—beating Georgia in Athens and Texas in the Red River Rivalry before somehow losing to Mississippi State in Starkville. Ryan explains why he views the Sooners as an 8-4 team rather than a legitimate playoff contender, while Connor questions whether quarterback John Mateer can withstand the physical demands of Oklahoma’s brutal schedule.
Connor and Ryan also discuss:
🏈 How a nine-game SEC schedule could create more upsets and 7-2 conference records
🏈 Why powerhouse coaches should embrace championship expectations
🏈 The importance of SEC Media Days and college football “talking season”
🏈 How Kirby Smart used preseason confidence before Georgia’s 2021 championship run
🏈 Why Brian Kelly’s public comments made him appear to be a poor fit at LSU
🏈 Curt Cignetti calling out Purdue, Michigan and Ohio State
🥤 Ryan Brown’s unbelievable daily Diet Coke routine
☕ Connor O’Gara’s cold brew addiction and strict 2:00 PM caffeine deadline
The episode concludes with a preview of The Next Round’s extensive SEC Media Days coverage from Tampa, featuring four hours of live YouTube content every day.
