Is Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer being seriously disrespected in the national college football coaching rankings?
On this episode of The Connor O’Gara Show, Connor is joined by Lance Taylor of The Next Round for a wide-ranging conversation covering Alabama football, SEC coaching rankings, terrible sports predictions, unexpected career turns and some unbelievable personal stories.
Connor and Lance react to an ESPN ranking that placed Kalen DeBoer tied for 10th among college football coaches. Both believe DeBoer is the second-best coach in the SEC behind Kirby Smart, pointing to his 20-6 record against ranked opponents and his head-to-head success against coaches such as Steve Sarkisian, Dan Lanning and Lane Kiffin.
They also preview Alabama’s upcoming season and explain why a 10-2 record and College Football Playoff appearance would represent a successful transition year for the Crimson Tide—while potentially setting up a legitimate national championship run in 2027.
Lance also revisits some of the worst sports takes of his career, including questioning the Kobe Bryant trade, doubting Patrick Mahomes before the Kansas City Chiefs drafted him and predicting a Purdue-Tennessee national championship matchup.
