"No Time To Die" Oct 09, 2021

Show notes

For our main podcast review this weekend, Josh Parham, Daniel Howat, and Michael Schwartz join me to discuss the final James Bond film starring Daniel Craig, "No Time To Die," directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and also starring Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz & Ralph Fiennes. Having to serve as a finale for Craig while tying up loose ends from the other films during his tenure as 007, Fukunaga's entry is the biggest film the franchise has ever seen, clocking in at nearly three hours long. After numerous delays, was the wait worth it? How does it work as an ending? What did we think of the action set pieces, Malek's Bond villain, and more? Tune in below to find out what we thought of these topics plus the film's awards potential! Be aware; we discuss spoilers after the initial review is over! Enjoy!

Interviews With "Titane" Director/Writer, Julia Ducournau & Star, Vincent Lindon Oct 04, 2021

Show notes

"Titane" has had a tremendous amount of buzz since its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it went on to win the coveted Palme d'Or. Since then, it has been mystifying, terrifying those who have dared to see it, and in some cases, causing audience members to faint during their screenings. Beneath all of the film's more visceral moments, there is a sweetness that emerges, and it is here where the film's storytelling becomes the most rewarding. Julia Ducournau's follow-up film to "Raw" is uncompromising, with a clear directorial vision that's one of the most unique and intense you're likely to see this year. She needed a gifted actor who could commit to her vision, and she knew that with Vincent Lindon, her work would be in good hands. Both Julia and Vincent were kind enough to spend some time talking with me about working together, what the film means to them, and more! Take a listen down below, be sure to check out the film before listening (this is a movie that demands you to avoid spoilers at any cost), and enjoy!

"Titane" Oct 02, 2021

Show notes

For our main podcast review this weekend, Eve O'Dea, Josh Parham, Dan Bayer & Tom O'Brien join me to discuss the 2021 Palme d'Or winner from the Cannes Film Festival, Julia Ducournau's fearless "Titane" starring Agathe Rousselle & Vincent Lindon. Following her directorial debut, "Raw," Julia continues to push boundaries and shock audiences with her gifted storytelling. Audacious, hilarious, and unexpectedly moving, her latest defies convention and is best seen with as little knowledge about it heading in as possible. Be warned, our review is filled with spoilers, so if you're thinking of taking a listen before seeing the film, don't! Go see it first, come back and enjoy!

Interview With "Old Henry" Director/Writer Potsy Ponciroli & Star, Tim Blake Nelson Oct 01, 2021

Show notes

"Old Henry" is a lean, harsh, and violent western which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and is now being released theatrically by Shout! Studios. The film marks writer/director Potsy Ponciroli's first time exploring the western genre and his first time writing a dramatic feature outside of the broad comedies he's usually worked on. Having been no stranger to independent movies or westerns, character actor Tim Blake Nelson ("The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs") is remarkable as the titular character in Ponciroli's film. Both were kind enough to take some time to talk with me about making the film, working with each other, and more! Click below to listen, and be sure to check out the film now playing in theaters. Enjoy!
