Can AI Help Cure Genetic Disease? Oct 08, 2026
    Show notes

Corey and Grant sit down with Mammoth Biosciences co-founder and CEO Dr. Trevor Martin to explain how CRISPR is moving from a laboratory tool toward one-time medicines.

Trevor breaks down how Mammoth searches massive biological datasets for new CRISPR systems, why AI is useful but still constrained by missing clinical data, and what it would take to build a feedback loop between AI models, wet labs, and human trials. The conversation also covers personalized medicine, the economics of one-time cures, organoids, and why a medical breakthrough may be the clearest way for AI to prove its value to the public.

BONUS: GPT-6 Sol vs Claude Opus 5.5 LIVE: Which AI Model Is Better? Oct 02, 2026
    Show notes

GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, AND Claude Opus 5.5 all just dropped. So which model should you actually use?

Join Grant Harvey and Corey Noles from The Neuron LIVE today as we put the newest models from OpenAI and Anthropic head-to-head.

OpenAI says GPT-6 Sol makes roughly half as many mistakes as GPT-5.6 Sol, bringing Astra-level reliability to a much cheaper model, while GPT-6 Luna is designed for fast, high-volume work like summarization, extraction, and quick questions. OpenAI is also dramatically cutting prices, with Sol reportedly coming in at $2 / $10 per million input / output tokens and Luna at just $0.10 / $0.50.

Meanwhile, Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5.5 just 90 minutes earlier. Anthropic says it performs around Claude Fable 5.1 level on most work while costing roughly 40% less to run than Opus 5, generating output more than 30% faster, and communicating more clearly. Its API price is $4 / $20 per million input / output tokens.

And the benchmark fight is already spicy: Anthropic reports Opus 5.5 scoring 66.4% on Terminal-Bench 4.0, 54.4% on FrontierCode, and 1,846 Elo on GDPval-AA v2.1, with particularly strong results in coding, computer use, and professional knowledge work.

On the livestream, we’ll break down:

    ⚔️ GPT-6 Sol vs. GPT-6 Luna

🤖 Claude Opus 5.5 vs. OpenAI’s newest models

💻 Coding, reasoning, writing, agents, and everyday work

💰 Pricing and what it means for AI users

🎯 Which model fits which kind of task

🧪 First reactions and live testing

💬 Your questions from the chat

If you’ve been wondering whether to use GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, Claude Opus 5.5, or GPT-6 Astra, come hang out and test them with us.

How Hume AI Is Teaching Voice Systems to Understand More Than Words Sep 30, 2026
    Show notes

AI voices can already sound startlingly human. The harder problem is whether they actually understand how humans speak.

Andrew Ettinger, CEO of Hume AI, joins Corey Noles and Grant Harvey to explain why voice AI still has a “listening problem.” A transcript can capture the words someone says while stripping away tone, hesitation, frustration, background noise, dialect, speaker identity, and the other signals that shape what those words actually mean.

The conversation explores how Hume evaluates voice systems against real-world conditions, why emotion is better understood as a high-dimensional spectrum than a handful of neat labels, what breaks during long-running voice interactions, how speech-to-speech systems and AI voice agents could become a primary interface for computing, and what new safety and personalization challenges appear when AI starts talking back.

If you want to understand what has to improve before voice AI feels truly natural—not just realistic—this episode is a practical look at the infrastructure, evaluation, and human feedback behind the next generation of spoken AI.

Inside CoreWeave’s AI Infrastructure With Chen Goldberg Sep 23, 2026
    Show notes

AI infrastructure used to be the part developers were supposed to forget about. What happens when the infrastructure itself starts determining what AI can do

Corey Noles sits down with Chen Goldberg, Executive Vice President, Product & Engineering at CoreWeave, to unpack the systems underneath the next wave of AI. Using CoreWeave’s newly announced multi-rack NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 deployment as a jumping-off point, Chen explains why modern AI infrastructure is no longer just a question of how many GPUs you can get. Compute, networking, storage, cooling, observability, security, and orchestration all have to behave like one enormous machine.

The conversation moves from long-running AI agents and latency to Kubernetes, security guardrails, physical AI, energy constraints, and the changing role of software engineers. Chen also explains why CoreWeave sees AI as a transformational rather than incremental shift — and why making this infrastructure accessible matters if the benefits are going to reach more than a small group of companies and researchers.

BONUS: A Beginner’s Guide to GitHub, LIVE with Cassidy Williams Sep 18, 2026
    Show notes

    UPDATE: Blog version here https://theneuron.ai/explainer-articles/github-for-beginners-how-to-use-it-with-ai-coding-agents/

GitHub can feel intimidating if you didn’t come up as a developer, especially now that AI coding agents can build software before you’ve learned what a repo, branch, or pull request even is.

That’s why The Neuron is going LIVE with Cassidy Williams from GitHub for a beginner-friendly walkthrough of how GitHub actually works.

    📅 Thursday, September 10

    ⏰ 12 PM CT / 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET

    What we’ll cover:

    - What GitHub is and why you’d use it

    - How to create an account and navigate GitHub

    - Repos, pushing, pulling, merging, cloning, and forking

    - How to connect AI coding agents to GitHub

    - How to safely push and merge code

    - How to work on multiple features using worktrees

    - Best practices for keeping projects private and organized

    - GitHub Actions, key management, deployment, and more

    The goal:

Take you from “AI built me an app, now what?” to actually understanding how to manage, collaborate on, and safely ship your code with GitHub.

Cassidy will lead the walkthrough, while The Neuron’s Grant Harvey and Corey Noles jump in with beginner questions and audience Q&A throughout.

    GPT-6 Astra One-Shot Demos Sep 16, 2026
    Show notes

Corey and Grant put GPT-6 Astra through six identical one-shot build tests to see what it can create with almost no follow-up instruction. The episode covers an interactive black hole lab, a Blender scene, a physics game, a photo-to-sci-fi-world reconstruction, a mechanical sound diagnostic prototype, and the latest version of Cat Doom.

The biggest through-line is how much capability now comes out of a single prompt, while the remaining weaknesses show up in taste, UI restraint, game balancing, and reliability.

The episode ends by looking at how far Cat Doom has progressed across models over the past year.

OpenAI Astra, Local AI, and the Hardware Race Sep 09, 2026
    Show notes

What happens when AI models get powerful enough that the bottleneck stops being the model, and starts becoming the computer, the power grid, or the safeguards around it?

Corey Noles and Grant Harvey break down a packed week in AI, starting with OpenAI’s expected Astra model and the controversy around recurrent-depth reasoning, chain-of-thought monitoring, and critical cybersecurity capabilities. They also dig into Google’s Gemini 3.8 Flash and Flash Cyber, and why benchmark charts increasingly matter less than what a model can actually do in real work.

Then the conversation moves from models to machines: a $399 open-source robot duck, Dyson’s wildly overengineered CameraJet toothbrush, the return of the CPU as AI agents increasingly operate computers directly, and Apple’s increasingly data-center-like Mac Studio hardware for local AI workloads.

Finally, Corey and Grant unpack the fight over AI data centers in Texas, what communities should demand in exchange for hosting them, and why ChatGPT’s advertising business may become a major new piece of OpenAI’s economics.
