#13: From Baby to Toddler: Changes to Expect when Feeding Jun 18, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode, I’m talking all about the changes that can happen when your little, tiny baby becomes an independent, and sometimes, stubborn toddler. With all of the worry that goes into the start of this food journey with your little one, like what to feed them first or when to start, not a lot of attention gets paid to the transition from baby to toddler. Guess what? Most parents are shocked by the changes that can happen! I’m going over the developmental, physical, and emotional stages that your toddler will be experiencing, and HOW this is going to affect their eating. I discuss why it is crucial to remember that toddlers are still learning. I’ll chat about how their growth slows, and even about neophobia (you’re probably thinking, “what the heck is that??” - don’t worry, I’ve got you covered). But here’s the real truth bomb - the honeymoon phase is over! If you had a baby that ate literally anything and you’re thinking: “pfft I’ve got this, what’s the big deal, no picky eater for me!”. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but there is a good chance your toddler will throw that dream to the ground, along with everything on their plate. But seriously, there are so many ways to prepare you for this transition so that you can help your toddler through this, and hopefully, make this just a phase in your journey. So listen in, and remember, don’t be scared of this change, change is good. Your toddler will require different strategies than your baby did, but they will also introduce you to new found, or forgotten, joys on a daily basis. Despite all the jokes out there - toddlerhood is one of the best. As always, if you like my content, please subscribe, rate, and review it at Apple Podcasts! Don’t forget to share this episode with a friend that is embarking on the same journey as you - we can all use a little support sometimes. :) ADDITIONAL RESOURCES: This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the strategies and steps that I have for knowing exactly how to respond to every curve ball your toddler is likely to throw your way. For the full spectrum of details, you NEED my Feeding Toddlers course! Be so prepared for this journey that you can actually sit back and enjoy the wonderful, imaginative, and curious little person that you're raising. Enroll now! (https://mylittleeater.com/feeding-toddlers/) If you want to take a listen to the other episodes I reference on this podcast, check out the episode all about the Division of Responsibility here. And, last week’s episode on schedules for your baby, here. Or, scroll back to episodes 9 and 12, respectively. Finally, if the piece I say on mindful eating really resonates with you - take a look at my full blog post on this topic. It is such an eye-opener, and is an incredibly important skill that you can help your toddler continue to develop. (https://mylittleeater.com/how-to-teach-mindful-eating-to-your-toddler/) SKIP TO...
