#199 - Martha Weidmann, CEO & Co-Founder of Nine Dot Arts Sep 21, 2020

In this episode Martha shares her story from humble beginnings growing up in the south to her transition through education, the arts, and leading her early business thru the 2008 recession to "rising like the Phoenix" with Nine Dot Arts in leading the company thru this current pandemic. ABOUT MARTHA:
When you’re born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, genteel grace and charm are just a natural byproduct of your upbringing. But Martha’s deep understanding of the art business and tenacious drive for business success are something all her own.
As our CEO and Co-Founder of NINE dot ARTS, Martha oversees business planning, company finances, marketing and sales, team development, and is basically our head cheerleader and evangelist to the world. Martha left Alabama at 18 to expand her horizons and graduated from Colorado State University with a dual major – Communications and Fine Arts – to launch her journey. With her two diplomas in hand, she started her career with Walker Fine Art gallery in Denver, then moved on to the most prestigious art consulting firm (at the time) in the region, McGrath and Braun, from which NINE dot ARTS was born.
Martha loves the business of art and finds tremendous satisfaction in helping new and emerging artists discover that you can actually get paid for your talent. She also loves using both sides of her brain on a daily basis, which can mean touring an amazing new NINE dot ARTS art experience in the morning and reviewing equally inspiring spreadsheets in the afternoon.
When she’s not bouncing from meeting to meeting around our office, talking to movers and shakers in the art world, or giving high fives (with a handmade artistic hand, naturally) to team members, you might find her shopping at estate sales, urban hiking, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, or making cool stuff with her three art loving children.
Martha supports the art community by: currently serving on the Board of the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts and serving as Executive Director for Union Hall. Past experiences include lecturer for the Americans for the Arts conference in San Francisco on Art & Placemaking, serving on the Planning Committee for Stuart Semple’s Happy City, speaking on the CBCA Arts and Real Estate Panel, lecturer for the artist education series, Moxie U, and lecturer on Artist professional development for the Pueblo Economic Development Council.

Adam Hendle noted with envy that his wife had all the products, and wondered why guys didn’t have the same vast array of grooming products for every need?
And that’s how he came up with Ballsy, a men’s grooming line unabashedly designed for below the belt use. The company takes a sensitive topic “by the balls,” using forthrightness and humor. With names like Ballwash, Sack Spray, and Nut Rub solid cologne, you know instantly what each product is for.
Although Hendle started Ballsy as a side hustle with only $5000, his brand has brought in $10+ million in sales in just two years. It’s a side hustle no more, and Ballsy is quickly becoming the “Red Bull” of men’s personal care. In this episode we discuss his background, how he and his team launched the company, the “balance” necessary to operate, what he’d do with $100M in cash, and his best practices for success!

Dan wrote the book, Real Estate Evolution - The Ten Step Guide to C.P.I. (Consistent and Predictable Income) for Real Estate Agents.
Dan wrote this book because he has sold real estate since 2007 and has developed an immense amount of experience. During his journey, he witnessed hundreds (and maybe thousands) of agents fail in this business -- which he firmly believes is a shame. In Real Estate Evolution, Dan shows readers the exact steps that he has used as a real estate agent, to sell one to 15 homes every month for the past 129 consecutive months.
It took him more than two decades to learn the sales and persuasion techniques and more than one decade of mastering them in real estate sales to produce the content that makes up this book. It took more than a year to write (at the pace of three hours each day).

#196 - Puneet Nanda , Yoga, serial entrepreneur, and Founder of GuruNanda Sep 12, 2020

In this insightful episode Puneet Nanda shares his story background that you'll find intriguing to say the least. He's hilarious at times, and provides a tremendous perspective at other times that you will learn a lot from. We specifically discuss his transitions from India to New York to Southern California, the impact of the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 90's on his career, the insight his father shared with him, his persistent hustle with getting his brand products into retailers such as Walmart, Dollar Stores, and Walgreens, and much more!
ABOUT PUNEET:
Nanda is a former serial entrepreneur, and he’s still an entrepreneur – just an uncharacteristically calm, centered, focused and healthier version of himself. While building the successful oral care company Dr. Fresh (a pursuit that earned him designation as the 2011 Ernst and Young entrepreneur of the year), his mental and physical health deteriorated to the point that he knew he had to start over. Eventually, a severe panic attack landed him in the ER. That’s what prompted him to rediscover the yoga he loved as a child growing up in India, and returned to other Ayurvedic wellness practices of his native country, including yoga, meditation and aromatherapy.
