Ep. 17 : How to Deal with the Pain of Unresolved Emotions Jun 14, 2023
    Show notes

The Mary Dee Show's 17th episode focuses on dealing with unresolved issues, particularly those involving toxic or deceased family members.

Mary suggests reflecting on positive lessons learned from negative behavior and considering the other person's story and trauma to gain insight and compassion.

Forgiveness is a key step for inner peace, and it does not mean forgetting or allowing the person back into one's life. Changing one's story and taking back power are also important. Various modalities, such as therapy, coaching, tapping, meditation, and yoga, can help regulate the nervous system and release emotions.

The key takeaway is that individuals have the power to control their emotions and responses to unresolved issues by surrendering to the unknown, reflecting on positive lessons, considering the other person's story, releasing the need to be right, forgiving, changing their story, and using various modalities to process emotions.

Ep. 14: Failure is the Path to Success May 24, 2023
    Show notes

Sometimes, failing is the only true path to success. Today, on The Mary Dee Show, we unpack what it means to achieve success through making mistakes and rejecting perfectionism.

Jen Kim, a brand futurist, and CEO of Master Brand Institute, shares her insights on the importance of failure as a path to success. Growing up in an Asian household, she was taught to pursue traditional and socially accepted careers that guarantee a successful future. However, when she became an entrepreneur, she quickly realized that failure is inevitable and should be embraced as a stepping stone towards progress. Jen advises her younger self and others to understand that failure is not something to fear, but rather a necessary part of the journey.

Just as in business, sometimes we fail in relationships, too. But learning how to align core values and have regular check-ins with your partner can ensure the relationship is still on track. Jen emphasizes that a successful relationship should be run like a business and requires planning, execution, and measurement.

You can choose success by becoming comfortable with failure. Once you realize that the only true way to succeed is to learn from mistakes, you, too, will be on the path to success and align with your true purpose!

    Show notes

Today, I share my recent experience with scanxiety, that fear of the unknown that paralyzes you when you're waiting for your next medical scan. When I found a lump after my recovery, my mind turned to the worst-case scenarios, and I spent that time waiting, resisting my self-care, healthy foods, and even the things I loved. The shift into fear can happen instantly, but I'm giving you some tools to recover from anything that life throws at you on today's episode.

You can always pivot, but without taking a leap of faith, you will get stuck worrying about the consequences of actions you haven't even taken. You are not alone, to fear is to be human, but today I show you a new way to cope with fear so you can live a life of joy no matter even under the worst circumstances.

    Ep. 9: Unshakeable Confidence Apr 19, 2023
    Show notes

We all struggle with confidence in some aspects of our lives. Confidence can be dualistic; you can be confident in public but hesitate to ask out your crush. It all comes down to the fear of failure. Most people learn to fear failure, but confidence is a muscle, and the only way to get better is to be ok with making mistakes and learning from them.

Today, I reveal how you can let go of fear and grow your confidence muscles. I often say we spend twenty-five years learning, and the next twenty-five unlearning. Confidence is congruent with resilience. The more you shelter your children from experiencing loss and failure, the more it destroys their natural ability to persevere. Allowing them to fail builds those confidence muscles, and that skill will carry them far in life.

You can build resilience at any age if you decide that it is ok to fail. You can learn to laugh at yourself and accept that not every moment of your life is perfect. By giving yourself permission to be human, you can start small and work out your confidence muscles to develop a sense of personal freedom untethered by fear. If you are ready to step into your sovereignty, join me for this week's episode of The Mary Dee Show!

    Key Takeaways:

    • Confidence is a muscle [2:30]
    • Instilling Confidence in Children [4:00]
    • Pretending to be brave [6:00]
    • The Wonder of energetic love [8:00]
    • Love is the first lesson [11:00]
    • You can choose your family [13:00]
