    September 22, 2021 - Texas Tech Red Raiders Preview Sep 23, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns come out of non-conference play 2-1 and get ready to compete in the Big 12 for the first time under new head coach Steve Sarkisian. Up first is a tough test, the Texas Tech Red Raiders who are coming to town looking a bit different than they have in years past. The Red Raiders are led by their defense, coming off of three solid performances to open the season. They were a few plays away from a much different story, but the defense stepped up when it needed to in order to secure the wins. However, the Red Raiders will definitely rely on some expected names - SaRodorick Thompson and Eric Ezukanma - to set the pace for their offense as they try to come into Austin and win for the first time in four years. So what do we expect from the Red Raiders and how does Texas match up? Will they be able to play their game against a tough Texas Tech defense? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. September 20, 2021 - Rice Owls Recap Sep 21, 2021
    Show notes

A week after the ground game faltered against the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Texas Longhorns got their ground game going in spades against the Rice Owls, setting records in the process. Texas had five running backs get significant carries, four of which scored a touchdown and three of them breaking off runs longer than 60 yards. All of that led to a school-record 7.4 yards per carry for the Longhorns in the lopsided win over the Owls. That led to quarterback Casey Thompson looking solidly in command of the offense, completing 15 of his 18 attempts for 164 yards, two scores and an interception. The defense played for pride late, managing to keep a clean sheet in spite of Rice amassing 31 percent of their total offensive yardage on the final play of the game. The Longhorns did exactly what they needed to defensively in the game, leaned on the Owls early and often - and even ended the game with a sack by freshman DJ Harris. How can Texas translate this success to the kick-off of conference play? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. September 16, 2021 - Rice Preview Sep 16, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns need a moment to gather themselves and get back on track after an embarrassing loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks and hopefully, they can do just that against another former SWC rival - the Rice Owls. Rice is struggling to open the season, managing just 24 points in two games as a part of their 0-2 start. They nearly caught lightning in a bottle two weeks ago after leading Arkansas late, but it seems like since the levee broke against the Hogs they have been reeling. Texas hopes to take advantage of the Owls' struggles en route to righting the ship after their trip to Fayetteville. How will Steve Sarkisian and his coaching staff solve what ails Texas? Who do we think will be the standout players on Saturday and what do we predict for the game? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. September 14, 2021 - Arkansas Recap Sep 14, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns went into Fayetteville with high hopes and came away with a 40-19 beatdown at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Longhorns were unable to get their offense going at all, while the Razorbacks had a field day on the ground - rushing for 333 yards and 7.1 yards per carry in the big win. The Arkansas offensive line had their way with the Texas front, while the Longhorns' defense staff didn't seem to adjust for the downhill running of the razorbacks. Offensively, the Longhorns continue to have issues along their offensive line and the Razorbacks took advantage of it - managing to create havoc in the Texas backfield and generate pressure with just three down lineman. The Longhorns' offense never got going and Arkansas pulled away. Head coach Steve Sarkisian made the quarterback switch in-game, taking starter Hudson Card out of the game in favor of Casey Thompson - who was officially named the starter during Monday's press conference. September 11, 2021 - Instant Reaction: Texas Falls to Arkansas Sep 12, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns went into Fayetville with high hopes and came out with a bad headache, losing the marquee non-conference matchup 40-21 against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Texas was able to put some points up in garbage time to make it look better than it was, but the game never really felt close. Arkansas got whatever it wanted on the ground, rushing for more than 300 yards in the win. Hudson Card struggled in the game and head coach Steve Sarkisian made the change to Thompson late in the game - managing to put up two scores in that time. The ground game did the Longhorns no favors offensively either - with Bijan Robinson managing just 3.6 yards per carry en route to 69 yards rushing. Collectively, Texas managed just 118 passing yards and allowed three sacks in the loss. The Longhorns now have a lot of questions they need to answer in the week ahead of Rice, hopefully getting their ducks in a row before starting conference play in two weeks. September 9, 2021 - Arkansas Razorbacks Preview Sep 09, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns have another tough test facing them in the young season, heading to Fayetville, AR to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in front of a sold-out crowd. Arkansas may have had a few down years, but the Razorbacks are definitely going to be ready for this game - a rivalry that dates back to the old Southwest Conference. The Razorbacks opened their regular season with a come-from-behind win over the Rice Owls, thanks to some big defensive performances and a late surge from quarterback KJ Jefferson and the offense. Their star wide receiver Treylon Burks played hurt against Rice, but he should be healthy for the matchup Saturday and when he's healthy he's one of the top receiving threats in the country. The Razorbacks will also be without star linebacker Bumper Pool for the first half after he was ejected for targeting in the second half of the opener. Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. September 7, 2021 - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Recap Sep 07, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns came out and took care of business in the first game of the Steve Sarkisian era, knocking off the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 38-18 in a game that never really felt close. Offensively, the Longhorns did a great job getting their playmakers involved early and often, with both Bijan Robinson and Jordan Whittington putting up career numbers. Hudson Card looked in control of the offense, but Sarkisian made good on his word to play both quarterbacks. What did we think of the offense and the quarterbacks? What questions do we still have as Texas heads into Week 2? Defensively, we got a look at what the Longhorns can do, with both of the inside linebackers - DeMarvion Overshown and Luke Brockermeyer - sitting atop of the stat sheet at the end of the day. Texas showed vast improvement in some areas, but what else do we need to see to feel confident in that unit? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook.
