    September 2, 2021 - Lousiana Ragin' Cajuns Preview Sep 02, 2021
    Show notes

After a long offseason, gameday is just around the corner and the Texas Longhorns are prepared to square off against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to kick off the 2021 season and the Steve Sarkisian era. Texas has taken on Louisiana twice - once in 2000 and again in 2005 - winning by a combined score of 112-13. However, this is not the Ragin' Cajuns that long-time Texas fans will remember playing in the past. Louisiana head coach Billy Napier took over the program three years ago and turned things around in a hurry - managing to win 11 games in his second season and had a shot at a conference championship in 2020. That 2020 campaign also added another feather in his cap, knocking off the Iowa State Cyclones in the season opener a year ago. Coming to Austin with Napier is super-senior quarterback Levi Lewis, who has been stellar over the last two seasons - passing for 5,324 yards, 45 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions in two seasons. So what do we hope to see from the Longhorns on Saturday and who do we think will have a big game? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. August 31, 2021 - New QB, New Depth Chart and Season Predictions Aug 31, 2021
    Show notes

Heading into the first game week of the 2021 season, new Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian released the 2021 depth chart - which included confirmation that Hudson Card is officially QB1 for the Texas Longhorns. The highly-touted commit out of Lake Travis High School takes the reins of a talented, but untested offensive unit into the new season. What do we hope to see from the young signal-caller and how do we think he meshes with the other talent on the offense? Defensively, Texas returns a lot of experience in pockets with a very high ceiling. Anchored by a stout defensive line and a secondary that could be special if all of the pieces live up to their highly-recruited billing. Pete Kwiatkowski spent the attacked the transfer portal along the egest to supplement the talented group left behind by the previous coaching staff. Is it enough to be competitive in the Big 12? August 26, 2021 - Kansas State Wildcats Preview Aug 26, 2021
    Show notes

The final week of previewing the Texas Longhorns' 2021 schedule brings us to the Kansas State Wildcats - who are hoping to rebound off of a disappointing year thanks to injuries and COVID-19 protocols. Head coach Chris Klieman is heading into his third year on the sidelines after replacing legendary coach Bill Snyder, hoping that year three looks more like year one in an effort to keep himself off of the hot seat. Thankfully for him, he brings back Skylar Thompson and Deuce Vaughn - two dynamic playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. This team may not resemble your typical Kansas State team - being led by the offense rather than the defense. So what are expectations for year three of the Klieman era? Can they get it done relying on the offense or will they need to rely on the transfers on the defensive side of the ball to hold things down? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. August 24, 2021 - Scrimmage 2 and DB Preview Aug 24, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns wrap up preseason practice with their second scrimmage of the year before heading into their two weeks of game preparation before the kickoff against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. A week after expressing concerns about the quarterbacks, head coach Steve Sarkisian had praise for both Casey Thompson and Hudson Card as they continue to vie for the starting quarterback position. Who else did he have kind words for and who should we expect to play a big role in the offense moving forward? We also dive in on our final positional preview of the offseason, focusing on the secondary - a group with a lot of talent and just as many questions about how they will fit together in the new system. What will a group of upper-classmen look like as they try to learn their third defensive system in an offense-heave league like the Big 12? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. August 19, 2021 - WVU Preview Aug 19, 2021
    Show notes

We are getting closer and closer to starting the Texas Longhorn's football season and with just two previews left bringing us to the West Virginia Mountaineers. Head coach Neil Brown is exactly .500 in his first two seasons after capping off 2020 with a bowl win over the Army Black Knights. He's approaching a prove-it year and has an opportunity to take the pressure off of himself with a good season with the Mountaineers. He gets back one of the top backs in the country in Leddie Brown, who finished second to the nation's leading rusher in Breece Hall last year, as well as an experienced quarterback in Jarrett Doege - who is taking advantage of the COVID eligibility rules. Perhaps the biggest question is the WVU offensive line, returning three starters from a unit that struggled to keep Doege upright a year ago - in addition to adding two new members to the unit. Can the Mountaineers rely on their defense yet again to keep them in games? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. August 18, 2021 - Scrimmage 1 and LB Preview Aug 18, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns continue their preparation for kickoff, completing their first week of practice with a full-team scrimmage. According to head coach Steve Sarkisian, the defense played up to the moment while the offense is still finding its footing. He's been clear that the quarterback position isn't settled - both quarterbacks not living up to the standards the coaching staff sets for the offense to be successful. That being said, the offensive struggles may also be attributed to the success of the defense - specifically the defensive line. For the second year in a row, the Longhorns are implementing a new defensive system and Pete Kwiatkowski's system requires hybrid roles for two of the four linebackers. This gives his teams the ability to keep opponents off-balance, never knowing who will be rushing the passer or dropping back into coverage. The defensive staff inherited one of the best inside linebackers in the conference with DeMarvion Overshown returning this year - capping off his first year playing the position with an all-Big 12 selection and earning bowl MVP honors. August 12, 2021 - Kansas Preview Aug 12, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns' kickoff rapidly approaches as we enter into the last few weeks of our season previews, landing on the Kansas Jayhawks.- who once again are a program in transition. Les Miles was relieved of duty following allegations stemming from his time with the LSU Tigers. Lance Leipold steps into the role inheriting a team that was unable to put one in the win column a year ago, needing to find a new quarterback and consistency at their skill positions. What are some of the strengths of the Jayhawks and where can we look to get contributions from around the team? Who will win out of the three-man quarterback competition? We welcome in Andy Mitts, host of the Rock Chalk Talk podcast to help us break down the expectations of the 2021 Jayhawks and get his thoughts on conference realignment. August 10, 2021 - Fall Practice Starts and DL Preview Aug 10, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns have officially started fall practice. After what felt like a long and dramatic offseason for everything but the football, the Longhorns have officially kicked off the 2021 football season and are preparing for the kickoff in a few short weeks. Casey Thompson and Hudson Card are battling it out at the quarterback spot, while young talent shines at the wide receiver spot. The coaching staff will now spend the next few weeks finalizing installing their new systems before turning their focus to the kickoff. We turn our specific focus to the defensive line, looking at the established players along the interior, as well as the questions Texas has along the edges. They attacked the portal heavily in the offseason, but need to ensure they have consistent contributors in the offense-driven conference. Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. August 5, 2021 - Iowa State Preview Aug 05, 2021
    Show notes

We are just 30 days away from the Texas Longhorns starting the season and we are entering the final third of our season preview episodes. Next up are the Iowa State Cyclones, who are coming off what is easily the most successful season in recent history and just the second nine-win season in school history. They bring a ton of skill and talent on the offensive side of the ball - including last year’s leading rusher in Breece Hall. Alongside him in the backfield is long-time quarterback Brock Purdy, who finished his season No. 2 in the conference in passing yards a year ago. Head coach Matt Campbell decided to stay in Ames for another year - reportedly turning down eight-figure NFL offers - to run it back with the Cyclones, so what does he expect from his team in 2021? Can the Cyclones repeat their performance from a year ago and find their way back to Dallas for the Big 12 championship game? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. August 3, 2021 - SEC Official and OL Preview Aug 03, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners have officially accepted an invitation to join the SEC. In a whirlwind week, both schools informed the Big 12 they would not renew their grant of rights, petitioned the SEC for an invite, were invited via a unanimous decision and accepted an invite. All within five days. Now that the dust has settled, for now, the legal battles and political jockeying begins by other schools and members of the Texas Senate to ask questions of Texas at the very least. Texas and Oklahoma have both said they intend to let the Grant of Rights expire on its own, but it seems far more likely that both schools depart sooner rather than later. In spite of all of the non-sports action, there is football to be played in just a few weeks, so we continue our season preview series and highlight the offensive line. Texas returns several players who have seen a ton of play, but could use some help with consistency - something Kyle Flood should look to fix early. The Longhorns also benefit from a young anchor in the middle of the line in Jake Majors and an up-and-comer on the ouside in Andrej Karic. Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook.
