    The Karen Kenney Show

Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Writer, Podcaster and Coach. She’s known for her dynamic storytelling, her sense of humor, her Boston accent and her no-bullshit approach to spirituality, self development, and transformational work.

She’s been a yoga teacher for 25 years, is a Certified Gateless Writing Instructor, and is also an author, speaker, retreat leader and the host of The Karen Kenney Show podcast.

A curious human being, life-long learner and an entrepreneur for 20+ years, KK brings a down-to-earth perspective to the spiritual principles and practical tools that create powerful shifts in people’s lives, relationships and businesses.

She works with people individually in her 1:1 program THE QUEST – and in her group program THE NEST.

Her approach brings together tools that coach both the conscious and unconscious mind. She combines Brain Science, Subconscious Reprogramming, Integrative Hypnosis, and Spiritual Mentorship to help clients regulate their nervous systems, remove blocks, rewrite stories, rewire beliefs, and reimagine what’s possible!

Karen wants her clients to have their own lived experience with spirituality and to not just “take her word for it”. She encourages them to discover and deepen their own personal connection to Self, Source and Spirit in tangible and actionable ways.

Her “Your Story To Your Glory” process helps people to shift their minds from an old thought system of fear to one of Love – using compassion, empirical evidence and humor, her work is effective, efficient, and wicked fun!

KK’s been a student of A Course in Miracles for 30 years, has been vegan for 20+ years, and believes that a little kindness can make a big difference.

Life Goes On Dec 05, 2019
    Show notes

Today on the Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about one of those difficult realizations that we often have after we experience the loss of something or someone of great importance to us and what can happen as a result.
I’ve gone through it myself when I was younger and have seen + heard it from enough people over the years - friends and clients who are navigating a death, divorce or destruction of the familiar.
You know, those kinds of situations where you might feel wicked sad to lose the people or pets you love, or you’re being forced to face uncomfortable changes in close relationships and accept that your ideas and ideals don’t always work out.
This resistance and sometimes shock that even though something huge in our life has happened - the world seems to have not gotten the ole’ memo. HA!
That despite our personal losses, whatever or however significant they may be, Life Goes On.
The key lesson for us is to not take it personally, to not take it to heart and get upset with the world around us because it continues to move on, even though we’re crushingly sad and temporarily unable to keep up.
Understand that it’s okay to hit the pause button and step off the treadmill for a little bit. You can take the time you need to grieve that loss, get some support, help or mentoring, and do the work of self-care and self-awareness.
There’s a natural process that we have to go through - but in the end, we must be willing to surrender the suffering to our Inner Teacher and Spiritual Team and open our hearts and minds to healing - so that gradually, but inevitably - you can begin to transform “Your Story to Your Glory” and step back into the Fearless Flow of your life.

Attitude of Gratitude Nov 28, 2019
    Show notes

One of the things that I often ask my Spiritual Mentoring clients is: “In this moment, can you be grateful for everything that’s happened in your life so far?”

And in the places where there’s still a big, fat NO ------> Like feck’ no, KK, I am so NOT grateful for that… death, divorce, disease, diagnosis, disappointment, disaster, etc. Why on earth would I want to give THANKS for THAT?)
Well, my brothers & sisters, that right there is exactly where there’s still some forgiveness & healing work to be done.
One of the common threads that I see a lot when I talk to people, clients (or potential clients) is their special sentiment for their suffering & to all of the things that have gone or are going wrong in their life.

Whether we care to admit to it or not, we’re kinda’ attached to our traumas & dramas. Ha!
Now, this doesn’t mean that people are never thankful for their journeys, but in those particular moments of conversation with me, I often gently remind them that part of their problem is that there’s a lack of gratitude & humility.
Today on the Karen Kenney Show, we’re switching it up and flipping the script about how to move through the world with an attitude of gratitude (for even the wicked hard stuff). Our focus will go from what we perceive as going wrong - to thoughts of, “What can we be grateful for right now?!”
Love is the way I walk in gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving!

What You Will Learn On This Episode:

Love Is The Way I Walk In Gratitude (1:59)

    Lacking Gratitude (3:23)

Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking with my friend Stacy Krecklow, co-founder of Ohana Kitchen about her story, her journey and her passion for “Servant Leadership Culture”.

Stacy Krecklow is also one of my Spiritual Mentoring clients and a fellow “Masshole” originally from Amesbury MA. She now resides with her husband (Jay), four-year-old daughter (Prudence) and her adorable Wheaten Terrier (Henry) in Portsmouth, NH

    When Life Is a MF'er Nov 14, 2019
    Show notes

Have you been feeling “THE SQUEEZE” lately?
You know the squeeze… That intense pressure you feel when a lot of shit is going down in your world all at once and you’re being asked to let go, surrender, change and maybe even let a few people, relationships, habits and old stories metaphorically “die” or fall away?
That place right before the transformation actually happens, when stuff might still feel sticky, hard, scary or wicked uncomfortable... That time when your viewing your situation and your circumstances as if you’re “getting it from all sides” and you can’t help but think to yourself, “Man, life just kind of feels like a Motherfecker’ right now.” HA!
If you’re picking up what I’m putting down, maybe now is the time to listen a little closer. Our bodies are constantly giving us feedback about the quality of our minds and the way we’re choosing to perceive things.

Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we talk about losing our joy when we choose fear as a teacher, instead of Love. Our awareness about not feeling joyous, is our mood telling us that we are no longer in our right mind, we have taken a “detour into fear” and dis-spirited ourselves.
But the good news is, “This Need Not Be”. It’s time to choose differently.
Will you embrace your natural state of peace and happiness and choose again?

    • Asked To Let Go (3:19)
    • Pressure Starts In The Mind (6:13)

    Mentors & Tormentors Nov 07, 2019
    Show notes

Mentors can be an extremely powerful force in our lives. As the ones who’ve gone before us, whether that be because of first-hand experience or simply age, their hard-earned lessons and wisdom POV, can teach us a lot about what might be helpful for us on our own journeys.
Things would be totally different now if I didn’t have the influence of both female and a few male mentors in my life, especially after my Mom died. While I still had to do the work myself, it was helpful to know that I didn’t always have to do it all alone.

Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the impact of Mentors & Tormentors.

While we might definitely prefer one over the other (Ha!) - the truth is - they can both teach us valuable lessons. Sometimes we’re taught through hardship & brutality and other times we learn through kindness & compassion.
There are so many different ways this world will ask you to learn. But it really comes down to learning through either “pain or joy”. The key is to keep an open mind and have the willingness to glean what we can from each situation.

The Consequence of Being Yourself Oct 24, 2019
    Show notes

Are you unhappy with the world around you, the way your life is going or the path you’ve been walking?

If you answered yes… then I have good news for you. You can always CHOOSE AGAIN!
It’s time to take back your power and stop blaming others and the world around you for your unhappiness and lack of inner peace. While we can’t always control what happens, we can always control how we respond to and think about what happens.

One of the things that I often talk about with my clients is, “Right now, the way your life is, it’s the consequence of you being yourself.” Ha!
If you take a look around at all the “problems” you think you have, you are the common denominator. Your life is basically the consequence of you being you: showing up the way you've been showing up, doing shit the way you've been doing it & thinking the way you've been thinking.

So, your life is the way that it is because of the choices that you’ve made, and it's going to continue to be the way that it is, as long as you keep making those same feckin’ choices.
Here’s the thing, if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you’ve always got. HA!

In today’s episode of The Karen Kenney Show, we talk about how we can always “choose again” by listening to the gentle call of the Divine. Understanding that we can make the necessary changes to ensure that “the consequences of being ourselves” instead becomes a reflection of the Love that we truly are.

How Full of Sh*t Are You? Oct 17, 2019
    Show notes

When I was younger and naive, I use to take people at face value & their word. Over time, I learned that it’s one thing for a person to think or say a thing - it’s totally different for them to actually act on what they say or follow through.
Here’s what I’ve come to know, if our thoughts, words and actions are not in alignment with our truth not only will we suffer and eventually doubt ourselves but other people are going to think we’re full of sh*t.

A good question to ask ourselves is; “How much am I living in alignment with what I say truly matters to me?”
In today’s episode of The Karen Kenney Show, we’re calling ourselves out on our own bullsh*t and moving into our brilliance.

I often tell my Spiritual Mentoring clients, “It’s hard to be full of God, when you’re already full of shit (or full of yourself).” HA! Join me in taking honest ownership of the places where we’ve been kinda’ full of some crappity crap and let’s choose to live in a new, more consciously aligned way.

Permission To Pivot Oct 10, 2019
    Show notes

Life doesn’t always have us travelling in a perfectly straight line. We sometimes change our mind or decide to try something different and don’t always know where the heck we’re going to end up. Good news is, it’s totally cool to think you know where you’re meant to go but then still change your mind or direction if and when the time comes for you to pivot. In my own life, I’ve taken what I call the “Zig-Zag” path. Ha!
This pivot or choosing to climb out of that box or space that people have tried placing us in - can sometimes make others wicked uncomfy. Which is why on today’s episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I’m inviting you to trust yourself, your Inner Teacher & your Spiritual Team by listening to & following the guidance they give you about when it’s time to make a course correction. I’m also (in a super silly + joking way) “giving you the ole’ pink permission slip” you think you need to make your pivots with confidence.
Join me today in getting comfortable with your own Plot Twists!

What You Will Learn On This Episode:

    Pivoting My Whole Life (15:01)

You Are Allowed To Change Your Mind (20:51)

Letting Go Of My Yoga Studio (24:18)

You Are Going To Change (29:27)

My Time Here Is Done (30:48)

Discipline Leads To Freedom Oct 03, 2019
    Show notes

As humans, we’re born into a world that conditions us to live in a fear-based state of thinking. Conditioning that has most of us believing that we’re separate from God, from our Source, from Love and each other. Once our minds take the ego’s BS bait, it starts to make this falsity it’s new Gospel truth. This dualistic way of thinking is then like the engine that drives the mental train of all our thoughts, words, actions, behaviors and the choices that follow.

This is where committing to a daily spiritual practice can work to retrain the mind and help us to see that we’re actually an extension of the Divine and Love itself. In today’s episode of The Karen Kenney Show, we take a look at what it means to be disciplined in our daily spiritual practices and how that translates into eventual freedoms in our day to day lives.

What You’ll Learn on This Episode:

    • Retraining Our Minds (2:31)
    • Repetitive Skill Set (6:19)
    • Responding From A Place Of Love (8:08)
    • Driver's License Test (10:34)
    • True Spontaneity (14:47)
    • The Body Answers To The Mind (19:17)
    • Daily Practice (23:05)
