068 Navigating Marriage After Infant Loss & Miscarriage With Meg & John - Mark Walker Feb 07, 2020
    Show notes

One of the most difficult aspects of life after baby loss is navigating relationships, especially the relationship with our spouse. Throughout the next 4 episodes I have the privilege of talking with married couples who have experienced the loss of a baby and have fought hard for their marriage amidst such grief. In our first episode in this special series all about marriage I get to spend some time talking with Meg and John-Mark Walker. They share their story of loss, the challenges they faced and how they worked through those challenges. They give helpful advice for those navigating loss, especially those who are early in their marriage. Meg and John-Mark share candidly and honestly about how they grieved differently, about the mistakes they made and all they have learned over the last 5 years. And they give such hope to any couple walking through loss when they share how this grief journey has bound them together, giving them a deeper and more meaningful relationship. This episode is for everyone, not just those who are married. The wisdom shared here is incredibly helpful and hopeful as Meg & John-Mark encourage those listening to fight for those they love, to move towards them even when things are hard or painful or feel very lonely. -- DO YOU FEEL ALONE IN YOUR GRIEF? 067 Enneagram & Grief: Fives, Sixes & Sevens With Monique Scrip Jan 30, 2020

You're listening to The Joyful Mourning Podcast Episode #67. This is our fourth and final installment of our special series all about the enneagram and grief. If you have never heard of the enneagram, it's simply a personality typing tool that helps us to better understand ourselves and others. And this series has been incredibly helpful at exposing how we are all different and therefore grieve differently. There are 9 enneagram types and for each type I have been asking our special guest Moniqe Scrip, a certified enneagram coach, a specific set of questions, including, what might this enneagram type look like amidst grief and how can we best love someone who is this enneagram type and is grieving. This week's episode we are specifically discussing enneagram types 5, 6 & 7 -- what these personalities might look like amidst grief and how we can love someone who is this type and is grieving. Again, this series of episodes is so helpful at being reminded that we all grieve differently and helps us to better understand how we might be grieving ourselves or how someone we love might be grieving. I pray this tool will helpful as you navigate this season of grief. If you are new to this podcast or just jumping into this series, I would encourage you to listen to the first episode in this series, Episode 64 where Monique gives a helpful overview of what the enneagram is and why this tool can be especially helpful to someone who is walking through grief. If you are unsure what your enneagram type is or are curious about learning more about this helpful tool, I recommend reading The Road Back to You by Ian Chron and taking Monique's free enneagram typing test over on her website www.moniquescrip.com. -- DO YOU FEEL ALONE IN YOUR GRIEF? 059 Navigating The Holidays After Pregnancy Or Infant Loss With Lauren Woo Nov 27, 2019
    Show notes

You're listening to The Joyful Mourning Podcast Episode #59. Throughout November I have had the privilege of talking with mamas specifically about what it looked like to navigate the holiday season while grieving. The past three episodes have been incredibly helpful and relatable and if you haven't gotten a chance to listen to those yet I would highly recommend it. In this week's episode I am interviewing Lauren Woo about her experience with miscarriage and stillbirth and navigating the holidays while grieving the loss of her baby. Her insight is full of very practical thoughts about navigating family expectations and potential triggers and she shares incredibly helpful advice about what it looks like to love a grieving mom through the holidays. Lauren shares her favorite traditions and wisdom about how to find joy even when it feels impossible. And to the mom with no living children she says the most profound and grace-filled sentiment that is so true. She says these impactful words: "Being a mom of a baby that's not here on earth is a very special kind of mom and it's not a mom that everybody gets to see; and you have to get creative with how you are that kind of mom because it's different than what you picture a mom being. But you are still a mom." Friend. You are still a mom. And though it will look differently this holiday season than what you ever pictured, it doesn't make your role as a mom or your baby's life any less valid or real. I pray you know that to be true. *TRIGGER WARNING* Also, I want to let you know that there are a few moments within this episode when you can hear Lauren's baby boy Arrow making sweet little baby noises. I did my best to edit the episode in a way that eliminated that potential hurtful trigger but just in case I wanted to give you the warning that it is there. I hope you know my heart and that I would never intentionally want to add to your hurt. -- FREE CHRISTMAS DAILY DEVOTIONAL I created the simplest and most manageable Christmas Daily Devotional for you that is FREE.
