    The Jerry Springer Podcast

The Jerry Springer Podcast: Tales, Tunes and Tomfoolery is a weekly mix of comedy, liberal political talk and roots music performed by up and coming song writers and groups. Jerry is joined by Jene Galvin and Megan Hils as they compare their dissimilar lives, convo about events of the day and occasionally welcome a phone guest, some real and others you wonder. Like State Senator Tip Kemper, who recently proposed a literacy bill requiring citizens to read a book a month and submit a written report to the government at the post office. But in the middle of each episode, Jerry shows his serious side with a unique take on a current political or social issue drawing from his years as Cincinnati’s mayor and top ranked news anchor. Performed before a small audience at the Folk School Coffee Parlor in Ludlow, Kentucky, The Jerry Springer Podcast is live streamed at jerrryspringer.com and Facebook Live and archived on the podcast’s website and all major podcast apps.

Trump Lost But He's Not Going Away - EP 286 Nov 19, 2020
    Show notes

With our current election is still reverberating, Jene tells a story he just told Jerry for the first time a few days days ago about something that happened during Jerry's loss for Ohio governor in 1982. It’s funny. It speaks to how candidates are treated sometimes, even in defeat.

Isn't there a line about ignorance being bliss? Not sure Jerry agrees after that story.

And could our national nightmare really be over? (Not mentioning any names.)

Replacing the Iconic Ruth Bader Ginsberg - EP 280 Oct 07, 2020
    Show notes

We congratulate Megan, who is getting married!!!

We’ll talk about how Jene and Bonnie have been hitting the American road to hike and camp in national parks. Jerry, will you and Micki join us?

Megan, should we begin a process to try to get Jerry Knighthood in his native England? (Jene's campaign to get his head added to Rushmore was a total failure.) Wouldn’t that get us invited to some British ball or something where the swag would likely be pretty cool?

Jerry’s Thought for the Week: The replacement of the iconic Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

    The Presidential or Not-So-Presidential Debate - EP 279 Oct 01, 2020
    Show notes

We open with a tease of Jerry’s Thought for the Week and our musical guest, a replay of Tyler Childers’ White House Road.

Then we welcome Megan back to our team (notwithstanding all the law suits that have been flying back and forth among us for the past few years), and explain Maria’s departure due to her work schedule.

We ask Jerry for an update on the recording logistics for his Judge Jerry Show.

We highlight how Tyler Childers, a past podcast performer and recent Grammy award nominee, had the courage to release a song last week called Long Violent History, sympathetic to Black Lives Matter, going against the grain of his southern country-music following, even introducing the song with a youtube video explaining its context.

    The Whispering Beard Folk Festival-Part 1 - EP277 Sep 09, 2020
    Show notes

We open with chatter about how roots music is a core element of our podcast and how fitting it is to be here at the WBFF (Whispering Beard Folk Festival). Jerry, Jene and Megan talk about their histories and love for this genre, including talk about their past favorite concerts or festivals, etc. This sets up the parade of artist conversations and performances Casey has arranged.

Jerry, along the way, talks about playing guitar from his college days, and where he performed in Cincinnati.

Jerry also talks about Trump and why he will not be elected President. (Ahem). Topics include immigration, border fences, and Trump's hair or toupee.

Most of the episode, and the next, will be talking with and hearing songs from Whispering Beard performers.

Performances by Tom Vandenavond are about a weary traveling musician, quitting drinking and new beginnings.

We’ll end with Irene Goodnight. (Sometimes I live in the country. Sometimes I live in town. Sometimes I take a great notion to jump in the river and drown.)
