    The Jerry Springer Podcast

The Jerry Springer Podcast: Tales, Tunes and Tomfoolery is a weekly mix of comedy, liberal political talk and roots music performed by up and coming song writers and groups. Jerry is joined by Jene Galvin and Megan Hils as they compare their dissimilar lives, convo about events of the day and occasionally welcome a phone guest, some real and others you wonder. Like State Senator Tip Kemper, who recently proposed a literacy bill requiring citizens to read a book a month and submit a written report to the government at the post office. But in the middle of each episode, Jerry shows his serious side with a unique take on a current political or social issue drawing from his years as Cincinnati’s mayor and top ranked news anchor. Performed before a small audience at the Folk School Coffee Parlor in Ludlow, Kentucky, The Jerry Springer Podcast is live streamed at jerrryspringer.com and Facebook Live and archived on the podcast’s website and all major podcast apps.

    Biden-Harris 2020 - A Perfect Antidote to Trump - EP 266 Jun 24, 2020
    Show notes

Jene put out the bat call last week for submissions to our new Listener of the Month Club, and the response nearly blew up his computer. He'll do the best he can to continue the launch of this honor, a chance for the winners to be on a podcast with us, the receipt of a signed picture from Jerry Springer and the posting of the chosen ones' email pitches to Jene. Our first Listener of the Month will be with us during our next show, and he comes from outside our borders regardless of our president's strict immigration policy.

    Jerry's Rant: Biden-Harris 2020 a perfect antidote to Trump.

How BLM Protests Are Changing Our Cultural Landscape - EP 265 Jun 18, 2020
    Show notes

Jerry took the fam to Disneyland a few years back, and was thrilled when a woman stated, "Oh, you're Larry King".

Gene gives an update on COVID. Life with coronovirus has definitely caused some adjustment! Jerry backs him up, explaining it's his anniversary.

NOTE: We're instituting a "Listener of the Month" honor. If you'd like to be a listener of the month, email Jene at jene@jerryspringer.com. Our production staff will make selections based on your email's cleverness. Listeners of the Month will get to be on the screen with us during one of our video conference shows and also receive an autographed photo of Jerry.

Facism Arrives in Tiny Steps - EP 264 Jun 10, 2020
    Show notes

Jene asks Maria and Casey about their music gigs. As you might expect, the comfort level isn't really there for either of them just yet.

Jene asks: Is protesting seeing a 1960s level comeback as a force for change? For years, I've been hearing young people say to me "Man, I wish I'd lived during the 60s like you did when huge changes were being made almost daily, usually driven by expressions made in the streets." Well, that feeling is alive today. These street protests, which are still continuing, have true power.

Jerry points out that while these protests are similar to the 1960s, those protests started because of the draft for the Vietnam war. These protests today are based on the country we want to be.

Since he was mayor of a major city, we'll pick Jerry's brain about the challenges mayors face today balancing a city's need for police protection in normal daily life and the current climate where some are literally calling for defunding or even disbanding law enforcement as we know it.

No Leadership From the White House - EP 263 Jun 04, 2020
    Show notes

Jerry got a new haircut. Jene queries Jerry on Bible quotes.

Jene mentions how media attention has switched on a dime - from COVID-19 to Black Lives Matter protests. Casey talks about attending the Black Lives Matter protests in Cincinnati.

Jerry's Rant: Jerry discusses the lack of leadership from the White House. "Once again, we are left leaderless in a time of crisis. We have a buffoon who pours gasoline on cities already burning."

    COVID-19: Maybe Trump Could Have Done More - EP262 May 28, 2020
    Show notes

This is the strange time where we're starting to open back up. So much unknown. So much uncertainty.

Then we ask Jerry about his new TikTok Dance. Damn, he's becoming a social media titan. 13 million views for one clip?

Jene will tell about a dance recital he's going to attend for his granddaughter that's being done at a drive-in theatre with attendees watching from their cars. The new normal.

The Mount Springer Expedition is beginning to take form. Jerry, are you starting your conditioning? What backcountry, freeze dried foods do you prefer?

Jerry's Rant: Maybe Trump could have done more. Ya think?

Jerry tells how he hung out with the Championship Bulls in Chicago.

Incompetent Buffoons Run Our Government: EP-260 May 13, 2020
    Show notes

Jene asks if Jerry will join him on a 24-hour challenge starting Thursday morning, an activity aimed at showing respect to all of the essential workers who have toiled daily to keep our lives going in quarantine.

Jerry and Jene ask Maria and Casey when they think music venues will be getting back to normal and how they think formats may change.

Our security, survival, and recovery are in the hands of incompetent buffoons who have turned our government into a third rate reality show.

Maria introduces our musical guest, Casey Campbell, and we hear a song from him.

Trump and McConnell Attack States During Shutdown - EP 258 Apr 29, 2020
    Show notes

How's Jerry spending his time ... media interviews? United Way promo? Exercising? Food he's preparing and eating? Playing his guitar. Working on his house with home improvements built by him???

Similar questions to Maria about life in quarantine. Jene made his own microphone stand and is starting a You Tube channel called Screen Door's tips for older backpackers.

We'll promote Casey's Sunday Morning Sing Alongs seen and heard on Facebook live.

What Lessons Are We Learning from Coronavirus - EP: 257 Apr 22, 2020
    Show notes

Our interview guest is Jessica "trail name Dixie" Mills. Jessica is a Triple Crown backpacker and YouTube celebrity who will join me in trying to get Jerry to do something remarkable before he's finally too old to try, which might be in a few months.

Then we'll chat with Jessica about her dramatic backpack trips, all captured on YouTube, and her work as a backcountry blogger and influencer. That'll lead to Jene suggesting to Jerry that he let Jessica guide us on the final 30-mile section of the Continental Divide Trail in Montana's Glacier National Park that she had to bypass due to whiteout snow conditions. We'll claim that this is Jerry's chance to experience safely what can't be seen from a car window and have a backcountry blast in the process.

Then Jene will ask Jerry to comment on what we're learning from this pandemic of COVID-19.
