    The Jerry Springer Podcast

The Jerry Springer Podcast: Tales, Tunes and Tomfoolery is a weekly mix of comedy, liberal political talk and roots music performed by up and coming song writers and groups. Jerry is joined by Jene Galvin and Megan Hils as they compare their dissimilar lives, convo about events of the day and occasionally welcome a phone guest, some real and others you wonder. Like State Senator Tip Kemper, who recently proposed a literacy bill requiring citizens to read a book a month and submit a written report to the government at the post office. But in the middle of each episode, Jerry shows his serious side with a unique take on a current political or social issue drawing from his years as Cincinnati’s mayor and top ranked news anchor. Performed before a small audience at the Folk School Coffee Parlor in Ludlow, Kentucky, The Jerry Springer Podcast is live streamed at jerrryspringer.com and Facebook Live and archived on the podcast’s website and all major podcast apps.

The FBI is investigating President Trump as a Possible Traitor - EP196 Jan 22, 2019
    Show notes

Jene has a glitter episode, and he's not happy about it.

Christmas is over, and it couldn’t be soon enough for me, says Jene. Jerry explains how he and his wife determined their daughter's religion by coaxing her between the Minora and the Christmas tree.

Why don’t we do a Podcast Cruise in Europe that would involve us, several roots music artists and paid cruisers. We could do some shows from the boat with our on-board listeners as audience. Not sure it will ever happen, but the technical crew from Ambient Studios would be thrilled!

Jerry’s rant: The FBI is investigating President Trump as a possible traitor. When will our national nightmare end?

Musical guest: Our own Maria Carrelli with her backup band, but they don't have a name. They still sound great!

We Have Elvis Presley on the Podcast! EP. 195 Jan 15, 2019
    Show notes

I repeat, we have Elvis on the Podcast! Okay, not true, but we talk up Elvis and his relationship with roots music. And of course Jerry does a pretty mean version of Love Me Tender.

Jene, sorting through the hundreds of emails each week, finds one from Carolyn Stubbing from Portland, Maine. She doesn't think much of Jene's plan to get in the Guinness Book of World Records. Of course, neither does Jerry.

Maria's willing to teach Jerry yoga. In fact, she's willing to do it while we're on the air! Only trouble for Jerry is it requires movement.

The Whispering Beard Folk Festival is moving to Cincinnati’s riverfront this year! Very exciting for our Folk School buddies.

Jerry's Rant is about Impeachment. It seems opinions may be moving, his among them.

Music this week is by the Harmed Brothers. Awesome band...

    What's The Big Political Story of 2018? - EP 194 Jan 08, 2019
    Show notes

Jene injures himself doing heroic acts of strength. Jerry reminds him that anytime somebody works out it has detrimental effects on their body.

Jene then feels compelled to pimp Amazon Prime's original content and his problem with binge watching tv.

We promote Ludlow’s Cabin Fever Music Festival happening for the second time this winter. Half a dozen venues with life music.

Jerry’s rant: What is the big political story of 2018?

    Musical guest: The Duo-Jetts

Is Trump's Payoff to Two Women an Impeachable Offence? EP: 193 Jan 02, 2019
    Show notes

Jerry is once again a ringmaster, but this time to benefit local children in Ludlow. He was celebrity ringmaster at Bircus, a new Ludlow landmark that features circus acts and beer. Go figure.

Jene suggests we now open each show with Maria saying, “All rise. The honorable Judge Jerry Springer!” Fine if she wants to say it, but it's hard to see our audience jumping up at the command.

We then wonder if Northwestern Law School is aware that Jerry’s will be using the degree he got there to adjudicate cases on television. Should he receive an award from them as a distinguished alum?

Jerry’s rant: Does Trump's payoff to two women connect with impeachment?

Music this week is by The Duo-Jetts. Fun sounds.

On The Southern Border - EP. 192 Dec 18, 2018
    Show notes

We're all excited about Jerry's new judge gig. He'll be judicious, but he'll be the funniest damn judge show ever.

We had some phone issues tonight. First we've got Jene getting a call about term life insurance. Not cool for a professional broadcaster. Then, we call "Ask A Lifeguard" to find out about his new venture, only to have a missed call, call back, dead air on the line. Jerry reminds the lifeguard that you actually have to put the phone up to your ear to hear others.

Jerry's Rant is about our southern border with Mexico, and Trump's terribly misplaced policies on immigration. he suggests we get to the heart of the problem - the poverty and violence of so many countries in Latin America. Maybe our president will take his advise!

Our musical guest is Ben Knight. This dude has some serious root music coming down...

The End Is Near for "Individual 1": EP 191 Dec 11, 2018
    Show notes

Jene answers his phone on the air again being unprofessional again by not turning off his phone. Maria and Jerry properly scold him on the air. He apologizes and then Maria’s phone rings and she takes a call Jene and Jerry complain to her for also not turning off her ringer. Then Jerry, the ultimate professional broadcaster’s phone rings causing Jene and Maria to yell at him. We all wonder if we’re too stupid to do a national podcast.

Jerry’s rant: The end is near for Donald Trump, and for some of us it can't come soon enough!

Music tonight by our own Casey Campbell. It's a touching song, 'The Wrong Side of Right' whose name someone else must have come up with for him. Casey's not that clever...

It's Official: Jerry Has A New TV Show! Ep. 190 Dec 04, 2018

It's official there's a new T.V. show called Judge Jerry starring the one and only, our very own Jerry Springer!

Jene asks if he could he be the campaign manager for Jerry's re-election for judge. He suggests some possible re-elect slogans to try to get the job.

The White House Took Away a CNN Reporter's Press Pass - EP 189 Nov 27, 2018
    Show notes

Maria's back, and the boys need to know all about her Mexican trip. Cabo, Tapachula, Oaxaca - who knew Mexico had so many places! If that's not enough, she was there for Halloween, or what the local folks call 'Day of the Dead'. Costumes, bands, packed streets, scary faces - these folks know how to have fun!

Secret friend of the show Louis calls in - not because he was supposed to be part of the show but because stupid 'I'm a broadcast professional' Jene Galvin forgot to turn off his phone. Jene works the call for a free meal. No surprise there.

Jerry goes off on this week on the White House decision to remove CNN's Jim Acasta from the press briefings. As Jerry notes, the situation has changed, with Acasta is now allowed back in. Still the tone was set - get tough with Trump and bye bye. At least it's not working...

Music this week is from musical guest Rhyan Sinclair. We think she may have made it to the ripe old age of 18 now.

Recent Hate Crimes Have Been Fueled by the Language of Trump Nov 20, 2018
    Show notes

No Maria once again. Mexico's win, our loss.

Jene is really excited about the Suburban Blues guy sending us another track. Unlike Jerry, who never curses, Jene never curses either. So, the Suburban Blues has a new track with a name we can't even mention do to the "F-bombs".

Jerry's grandson is 10 years old and quite tall. Jerry offered to pay him $100 when he got to be five feet tall. Had to pay out. Jerry then said I'll give you $500 when you hit six feet. The reply was not what Jerry expected.

Jerry's rant this week is on how Trump, whether he wants to acknowledge it or not, is clearly part of the problem with his use of vitriolic language. (You're welcome for 'vitriolic'.) "Downright scary that this is America."

Music this week is by Jamonn Zeiler, a gifted player and guitar fixer (not going to say 'luthier', already used a big word).

The Dems Have Won The House! Nov 13, 2018
    Show notes

No Maria this week. After just a few episodes, she goes running off to Mexico to do some gigs. Never hire musicians. Period.

Ludlow gets friend of the show Julie on city council, continuing its renaissance.

Jene says Jene deserves congratulations. Nothing new here.

And we spend a lot of time discussing the Midterm Elections. What will it mean to Mr. President now that the Democrats have some control with the House of Representatives? What are the prospects for 2020? Why is Ohio still so damn red? Yes, friends, these and other compelling questions are answered by Mr. Springer himself.

Our musical guest is Jamonn Zeiler. Really fun songs and he's also a luthier (look it up).
