    The Jerry Springer Podcast

The Jerry Springer Podcast: Tales, Tunes and Tomfoolery is a weekly mix of comedy, liberal political talk and roots music performed by up and coming song writers and groups. Jerry is joined by Jene Galvin and Megan Hils as they compare their dissimilar lives, convo about events of the day and occasionally welcome a phone guest, some real and others you wonder. Like State Senator Tip Kemper, who recently proposed a literacy bill requiring citizens to read a book a month and submit a written report to the government at the post office. But in the middle of each episode, Jerry shows his serious side with a unique take on a current political or social issue drawing from his years as Cincinnati’s mayor and top ranked news anchor. Performed before a small audience at the Folk School Coffee Parlor in Ludlow, Kentucky, The Jerry Springer Podcast is live streamed at jerrryspringer.com and Facebook Live and archived on the podcast’s website and all major podcast apps.

Should Special Counsel Mueller Testify? - EP 216 Jun 11, 2019
    Show notes

Jerry is unable to get a ride to the podcast so his assistant puts the Uber app on his flip phone. Of course that doesn't automatically mean Jerry knows anything about Uber.

Jene suggests Jerry make some extra money by opening his home to strangers coming by to take a shower using the Warm Showers app. Flushing Toilets app?

Music guest Chelsea Nolan works as a D.J. for Tradio where callers can barter with one another with oddball requests. Bean poles anyone? Including requests for rides. Perhaps a piggyback ride service called Goober?

Jerry’s rant: Should Special Counsel Mueller Testify? Mueller?...Mueller?...

Right Wing Groups Believe Roe vs. Wade Can Be Overturned - EP 215 Jun 04, 2019
    Show notes

Now that spring is here and baseball season, Jene's reminded of the stellar career Jerry had playing in the Cincinnati Jewish Center’s softball league when he was a politician. Weren’t you the Pete Rose of that league … tenacious, crafty and efficient? Speaking of Pete Rose, didn’t you visit him while he was paying his debt to society? Tell us that story.

And that made Jene think of something else, wouldn’t it be a good business decision to bring Jerry's Maserati to Ludlow, Kentucky and be turned over legally to the podcast so that the podcast Executive Producer (Jene) would have a car to get around town to get the show’s business done? That just seems like Business 101.

Talk of War with Iran - EP 214 May 28, 2019
    Show notes

Jene's concerned: Are we to perform at the Whispering Beard Folk Festival this August? We noticed the date we were given to be on the main stage is a day after the festival closes. And that date was suggested AFTER Jerry sang Banks of the Ohio on one of our episodes. Is somebody messing with us?

Jerry, do you still have that Maserati? Is there any reason that car couldn’t be brought to Ludlow to become the podcast car to be used to go to the bank, post office, the printer, etc? Think of the publicity! Folks all over Ludlow would see the car and flock to the show!

Jene's also trying to get Jerry to join him in the effort to 'digitally map' the Ohio River for tourists and boaters. Jerry won't bite.

Does Character Matter Anymore to Voters? - EP 213 May 21, 2019
    Show notes

There's a new brand of marijuana (where it's legal in Washington State called 'Cherry Springer'. If marihuana was legal in Kentucky we'd be all over it. (Well, some of the crew anyway.)

There’s a meeting this week for the riders who will be digitally mapping the Ohio River for recreational boaters and bike riders this June. Last call for riders.

Jerry, you’re an experienced boatman, correct? When was the last time you piloted your boat? How about bringing it to the Ohio River and floating along with our group?

Jerry’s rant: Does character matter anymore to voters?

We Have a Chance to Save America by Removing Trump - EP. 212 May 14, 2019
    Show notes

Jene prods Jerry with the hearing aid joke and then notes a joke published in a prison literary magazine.

Maria ran The Flying Pig Half Marathon and Byrce Carlson, a previous guest on the show, ran a first time ever 5-way. Jerry recalls a marathon when he was mayor where he started the race with the starting gun and then ran in his wingtip shoes.

    President Trump's Approval Rating - EP 211 May 07, 2019
    Show notes

Jene went to a party recently and everyone was buzzing about the upcoming TV show Judge Jerry. And some of the people there were lawyers, and they were assessing his skills to adjudicate small claims conflicts.

Jene says: I’ve pretty well shut down the Rock Jerry’s Face movement after a moment where I really thought through the whole thing. To put an entertainer’s likeness on the sacred mountain next to four great presidents of the United States of America seems, well, stupid. I personally apologize to the country, our government, teachers and my family (whom I’ve embarrassed).

Jerry’s rant: President Trump's approval rating went down further.

What We Learned From The Mueller Report - EP 210 Apr 30, 2019
    Show notes

Maria has just released her new CD! We couldn't be more thrilled for her. Search Maria Carrelli on any of the music sites! She's even big in Russia!

Jerry's amazed that Maria doesn't know who Dick Clark was. She does know who Little Richard was, and sends into Jerry telling the tale of when he and Little Richard performed together.

The Whispering Beard Folk Festival is coming to Cincinnati! It's been held in Friendship, Indiana for the last several years. This year's event will be much bigger in the new venue, right on Cincinnati's Riverfront.

Jerry reveals his new schedule with the Judge Jerry show now in production. He actually has to work for a living - first time in long years.

    A Woman's Right To Choose Apr 23, 2019
    Show notes

Jene talks about recently watching the old 'Inherit the Wind' movie (Spencer Tracy), and its relevance in light of the anti-science attitude of Republicans today.

Jene asks Jerry whether he uses big box stores like Home Depot or a neighborhood old school hardware store when he does fix it projects at home. Jerry doesn't know what he's talking about.

Jene tells about the time he found one of his Galvin for Commissioner signs shot up with buckshot in a rural yard. in Clermont County, Ohio. It wasn't as bad as you might guess.

Jerry’s rant: Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh and a woman's right to choose.

Jene tells the most often asked question he gets about his work on the podcast.

We ask Jerry to talk about his first week of real work … on his new show.

Jene started teaching today in a state prison in south central Kentucky.

Jerry’s rant: Dems push for Trump's tax returns. Good luck with that.

Let's Dump The Electoral College EP 207 Apr 09, 2019
    Show notes

Jene shows his normal brilliance by wanting to make a TV show about people who live in vans. Maybe even the subset of 'Rock Climbers Who Live in Vans'. Pure genius.

Sometimes life serves up epiphanies, spontaneous moments that reveal something meaningful that lasts for a lifetime. Jerry had one on the deck of the Queen Mary as a child arriving for the first time in America. Jene had one on a mountain top in O’cebreiro along Spain’s Camino Trail gathered for the night with five other hikers from four countries all with their minds on freedom. Maria's still too young for meaningful moments.

One day tourists may gaze up at Mt. Rushmore and get a revelation that they’ll remember for a lifetime. What a day that will be.

Jerry's Rant: Let's Dump the Electoral College

    Musical guest: Amy Alvey
