    The Jerry Springer Podcast

The Jerry Springer Podcast: Tales, Tunes and Tomfoolery is a weekly mix of comedy, liberal political talk and roots music performed by up and coming song writers and groups. Jerry is joined by Jene Galvin and Megan Hils as they compare their dissimilar lives, convo about events of the day and occasionally welcome a phone guest, some real and others you wonder. Like State Senator Tip Kemper, who recently proposed a literacy bill requiring citizens to read a book a month and submit a written report to the government at the post office. But in the middle of each episode, Jerry shows his serious side with a unique take on a current political or social issue drawing from his years as Cincinnati’s mayor and top ranked news anchor. Performed before a small audience at the Folk School Coffee Parlor in Ludlow, Kentucky, The Jerry Springer Podcast is live streamed at jerrryspringer.com and Facebook Live and archived on the podcast’s website and all major podcast apps.

Did Trump Commit Treason? Ep 174 Aug 14, 2018
    Show notes

Remember our interview with Bryce Carlson rowing across the North Atlantic? He’s about to break the record for days it took to cross. Let’s advance the story that we were with him spelling him on the oars the whole time. Let’s put out a news release and start national TV show interviews before he’s even done and can deny our claims in person. The other day my wife comes into Folk School when I’m not here, gets a coffee and puts it on my tab. Problem is, I don’t have a tab at Folk School. So the owner, Catfish, a member of the Ludlow city council, puts out a warrant on me. JeezJerry’s rant: Did Trump commit treason?Music by Tim Lancaster. The pride of West Virginia does a nice job of offering us a little Americana music.

Which Controversy Could Bring Trump Down? Ep. 173 Aug 07, 2018
    Show notes

Poor Megan, she hasn't been able to do the podcast much lately because her paid day job requires her to travel quite a bit. Jene wonders if her priorities are straight. Yes, her HR day job gets her a house and a prosperous life. But with us she gets fame and fulfillment. She needs to come home and get back to work. Let’s call her. We do.Whispering Beard Folk Festival is coming up in Friendship, Indiana. Some of the finest roots music players and fans in the Midwest take over this little town and fill it with music. People should go. (Us? We’ll be vacationing with the Gatsby crowd in Charlevoix.) If You're a Racist: Ep 172 Jul 31, 2018
    Show notes

Jene laments turning 50 years old as he just celebrated a birthday. Jerry's sorry he's 25 years late in offering Jene a 'Happy Birthday'. Jene asks Jerry about his vacation. They seem to have different ideas about what a good vacation is. Jene has also discovered a new app where you can track your wife’s whereabouts at any time. Good idea? Jene always has good ideas. Then Jerry's Take is whether one should be allowed in certain jobs, like political office, if in fact the person under discussion is clearly a racist. 'Nough said. Our music this week is provided by M Ross Perkins, whose psychedelic-tinged roots music is very fun! He can be found at http://www.mrossperkins.com/

    Trump is Putin's Mouthpiece: Ep. 171 Jul 24, 2018
    Show notes

Jene again suggests that Jerry, Megan and he should do something “remarkable” for society together. So he suggests having some guests who can show them the way. The show will soon feature Jerome Pilette, who is riding his bike from Quebec to the tip of Argentina, and Harvey Lewis, who is - as we speak - close to finishing a run of the Appalachian Trail in near-record time. Tonight, via satellite phone from his twenty-foot row boat in the middle of the stormy Atlantic Ocean, we’ll talk for a few minutes with Bryce Carlson, a teacher from Cincinnati’s Seven Hills School. He is their rowing coach and a former crew member at the University of Michigan. And boy, will he need everything he knows -- He’s already lost his sea anchor, flooded his laptop and broke his boat’s dagger board in several gales that caused him to capsize.Carlson is about 700 miles from Newfoundland, rowing alone to Penzance, England, trying to become the first American to make the trip. Should he finish in fewer than 55 days, it'd be a world record. Good thing we're stopping him to talk to us, right? Then, Jerry exposes Trump as a mouthpiece for Russian president Vladmir Putin. We will know the "why" one day- What Trump has done is against the security and interests in America. Musical guest: Zach Gabbard: https://www.howlerhillsfarm.com/buffalo-killers

    Why Trump's Foreign Policy is Putin's Dream: Ep. 170 Jul 17, 2018
    Show notes

(Note: last week's episode featured Jerry's announcement about his future. Don't miss it if you didn't catch it already). Jene recently did a 100-mile bike ride last weekend camping for two nights out on the Ohio to Erie bike trail. Would Jerry join him the next time, riding, talking, telling stories around the campfire?Jene talks with Jerry about the idea of “Concrete Football,” a concept seen in the Netflix documentary of the same name. In the wake of the World Cup, is soccer another economic pathway for urban kids who have relatively fewer opportunities? Then Jerry investigates Trump's foreign policy, specifically his recent meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Coincidentally or not, Trump's foreign policy strategy and practice seems to fall right into the hands of Russian President Vladmir Putin. This week's musical guest is Bennet Waleshttp://www.thereliefmusic.com/

Jerry Announces He's Retiring After 27 Years From The Jerry Springer Show: Ep. 169 Jul 10, 2018
    Show notes

The Jerry Springer Show started in 1991, and is the second longest running daytime talk show next to Phil Donahue. Although the show will continue to air, what's in store for what Jerry may do next?Jene talks about how this Jene Genkins guy, testing the senate waters in Kentucky, is copying off a political candidate we've had on the show before, State Senator Tip Kemper for daring political ideas.Jerry’s Take: A compassionate society shouldn't weaponize children by taking them away from their families. How can pro-family groups continue to support Trump when he and Jeff Sessions implemented this policy? Now there will be lawsuits because even though they're allowing the families to stay together, you can't keep a child in jail for more than twenty days. But because the courts are so far backed up, they can't hear the cases before the twenty days are past.Musical guest: Bennet Waleshttps://www.facebook.com/thereliefva/

Fake Blogs, Foreign Interference, and Made Up News: Ep. 168 Jul 03, 2018
    Show notes

Since it’s now summer, we check in with Ask the Lifeguard, of askthelifeguard.com. Jene read in a local paper from a South Carolina beach community that he got an employer reprimand for his negligent behavior during a dual rescue in a riptide. Apparently he’s doing required Medieval lectures from his lifeguard chair to beach patrons on his section of the beach at 9:00 am each day, and the incident stemmed from that. Our musical guest: Joe's Truck Stophttps://joestruckstop.bandcamp.com/
