THE LORDS OF BENADRYL: THE PILLS OF POWER w/MIKE WHALEN Mar 20, 2022

Show notes

Mike Whalen is back! And we're back! This time we're discussing the "discourse" surrounding the Amazon exclusive original series "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power". And boy oh boy what discourse there is. Thankfully, our own journey through Middle-Urth in Jnco jeans is fueled by a bevy of old forum complaints, "fans" accidentally creating astroturf movements surrounding the work, and speculation run rampant. It's a grand return to form!

But most importantly this is episode is a primer, a deep dive into what's going on at Amazon Studios, and how this show is being designed from a bottom up effort to at least compete with House of the Dragon, which our fantasy prestige TV vibes consultant Mr. Whalen will also join us again to discuss when the trailer drops.

No NBA talk this episode, but we'll have some coming soon! We promise! The ball is life!

HALLOWEEN K*LLS ROBERT SARVER IN MINECRAFT Dec 07, 2021

Show notes

This episode is cursed. Don't believe us? We lost the Audacity Project for this on two separate occasions. Hence we ended up with...this.

This episode was originally recorded at the tail end of October, and it's coming out now. Proving that Halloween really does come twice a year and the Curse of Michael Myers is all too real.

In it, we discuss the Suns/Blazers controversy and eventually move over to Halloween Kills, which is a documentary about what happens when you take too much Benadryl.

Time Stamps:

Suns/Blazers Controversy-0:00-40:00

Halloween Kills: 41:40-END

DIAL M FOR: MALIGNANT IN THE PALACE Oct 21, 2021

Show notes

It's time to go down to the Palace and get MALIGNANT. That's right, we're talking about the little (big) horror film that captured the internet's attention for around three weeks before being memory-holed. And in true Illegal Screen fashion we're merging it with another spectacle of madness, the legendary basketball documentary about the Pistons/Pacers brawl "Unseen: Malice in the Palace".

TIME STAMPS:

Malignant- 00:00

MALICE/NBA- 32:15

PURELY AESTHETIC BENADRYL w/MIKE OF THE DISMAL TIDE Sep 17, 2021

Show notes

It's Episode 39! That's right, we just can't be stopped. Making up for our lack of NBA coverage from our last episode with this episode, which will examine your innermost Lebron James pixel fetishes. We're joined by Mike Johnson from the Dismal Tide in order to examine the aesthetics of sports, names, and players. It's as bitchy as you'd expect. BUCKLE UP.

STARTER PACK: SAM PECKINPAH Aug 27, 2021

Show notes

It's our two-year anniversary! That's right loyal listeners, we've been dolling out the laughs, the jeers, and the cheers for two years now. In addition, Brian's back from the Benadryl mines!

A long, long time ago we promised we would provide a comprehensive "Starter Pack" for famed (and defamed) director Sam Peckinpah. After two long years, we are done! This episode is strictly focused on cinema, our apologies to our listeners who tune in for the NBA portion, but we suggest tuning in regardless, you'll learn some...interesting things we promise!

As always, this was a long-overdue episode, but we keep our promises on the Screen! Thank you all for your support and as always, sharing is caring! May there be many more years of the Illegal Screen!

Show notes

Part two of our three part trilogy on the Snydercut! Don't think we have more to say? Oh you're very wrong, VERY wrong. Liam and Punishedmalaise go HARD in the paint this time around, ramping up the "DISCOURSE". This episode deals with a lot of subjects, mostly focusing and analyzing what comic book movies have been, will or should be, and how they all tie into preconceived concepts of what art should be.
