It seems like things keep going darker these days, and even Disney animated films like Zootopia are tackling harsh topics like diversity. Meanwhile Star Wars, Marvel and DC pump out numerous films that the entire family goes to where there is constant wanton destruction.
That brings us to our topic – What constitutes a family film in 2016?
When you take the kids, mom, grandma, whomever – What does family film even mean in the modern day? Is it relegated to films of yesterday like Old Yeller, or is it anything the entire family can enjoy, regardless of topic or rating? We dive into this and it spurs a spirited discussion on films in general.

At the same time, Lex Luthor has burst on the scene with a mysterious agenda that will affect both of our heroes.

Crazy is one of the hardest words to define, mostly because it means so many different things to so many people. What unnerves one of us might not even bother another, while society might consider a certain behavior insane while we completely understand it. So what IS crazy to us?
When it comes to movies and television, there are numerous characters to consider and we could honestly spend hours just on this one topic. Instead, this episode we discuss what WE consider to be crazy behavior, and what kinds of behavior truly gets under our skin unlike any other.
We conclude this topic by picking the one character in allllllll of TV and film that we consider to be the craziest crazy of all the crazies. That one character who still haunts us to this very day.

We’ve all been there. You walk out of the theater, pumped and excited from the movie you just sat through. You go on with your life until, suddenly, BAM! A sequel is announced. A continuation of this world or character that you loved is coming back to a theater near you. So you grab your closest friends, you psych yourself up and get ready for what is surely the greatest motion picture in the history of cinema!
And then it’s not.
That’s right, on this week’s podcast, we’re discussing when movie sequels go wrong. When that next chapter in your favorite film franchise forgets its roots or fans and turns into something dreadful. When you say ‘Bad Sequel’, so many films come to mind: Batman and Robin, Speed 2, Jaws 2, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, The Phantom Menace, and the list goes on and on.
What were our worst personal experiences because of bad sequels? What sequels ruined entire franchises for us? Most importantly: What are the absolute WORST movie sequels?

What are we up to? About 412 comic book superhero origin films? It sure feels like it. Every other month, it seems we are treated to another fanciful tale of some down-on-their-luck do-gooder, who randomly stumbles upon a radiated spider or blueprints to a super-suit, and BAM! Now we have us a superhero!
With so many films on this topic, the question must be asked: Which one is The Best? Of every movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC Comics, or other publisher – which movie rises above all of their foes to become the greatest origin story for a superhero throughout the history of time itself?!
Thankfully, The Hollywood Outsider has heard your cries for a ruling on this topic. Therefore, for this episode of our podcast, we have setup yet another Movie Battle Royale. This time, 8 movies enter the ring, but only ONE will be crowned the Champion of the HOverse. Could it be the original Superman? Maybe Batman Begins or Spider-Man? What if we just went crazy and proclaimed Hellboy or Spawn the winner? There is only want way to find out, you’re not going to want to miss this podcast!

Police Officers, Federal Agents, Air Marshals – Television and Film are stuffed to the gills with lawmen doing all measures of things in the name of Justice. We have all watched a TV series or a movie and thought – Can a cop REALLY do that? Can they really search a criminal’s car without good reason? Can a Fed claim jurisdiction over a local Sheriff? Most importantly – Can a cop shoot a guy one day and be back on the street the very next day without even filing a report?!
These questions and more are about to finally be laid to rest as we bring in a special guest this week with over 20 years of experience in Law Enforcement to settle these debates once and for all!
Not only do we handle that topic, some upcoming releases, AND discuss some movie and TV news – Stick with us until the very end for our in-depth reactions to the latest Marvel juggernaut: Deadpool. What did we think of the ‘Merc With A Mouth’? Did he live up to lofty expectations? Has the world gone mad for a madman? Will we get an R-rated Wolverine movie because of all of this?
