Siya Kolisi: A simple guide to achieving greatness (E35) Jan 04, 2021
    Show notes

Siya Kolisi is the captain of the South Africa national team and the Stormers in Super Rugby. He is the first black man to serve as captain, leading the team to a historic victory in the 2019 World Cup Final.

Siya lifting the trophy is the enduring image of the whole tournament. Having grown up in poverty, Siya has become an inspiration off the field as well as on it. Named this year as the most influential person in rugby, he was also named a global advocate by the United Nations for its Spotlight Initiative to end violence against women.

Following the success of The Springboks Rugby World Cup triumph, Siya and his wife took the initiative to create The Kolisi Foundation to assist vulnerable South African households and individuals who combat the struggle of poverty daily - https://kolisifoundation.org/

E34 - Tyrone Mings: How our struggles lead to our successes Dec 28, 2020
    Show notes

Tyrone Mings is a defender for Aston Villa and England, with a real life story of rags to riches in English football.

Tyrone joined Southampton as a kid but suffered rejection when he was released by Saints in 2009 for being 'too small'. He dropped down to Non-League, playing for Yate Town and Chippenham Town while working as a mortgage advisor.

He seriously considered packing football in all together but got his break when Ipswich signed him up for a fee of £10,000 before sealing an £8 million move to Bournemouth and realising his dream of becoming a Premier League player. A serious knee injury restricted his early appearances before a loan switch to Aston Villa in 2019 saw him help the Midlands club to promotion from the Championship.

Tyrone sealed a permanent move to Villa for £26.5 million and was called up to Gareth Southgate's England squad in 2019.

    E32 - Nims Purja: Make your dreams a reality Dec 14, 2020
    Show notes

Nirmal ‘Nims’ Purja MBE became the fastest person to climb all of the 14 worlds highest 8000 meter mountains in 2019. The previous record for this achievement was just under 8 years. Nims achieved this in just 6 months and 6 days. Aptly named Project Possible, Nims delivered on his promise and what many claimed to be ‘impossible’.

Previously, Nims served in The Gurkhas for 6 years before passing Special Forces selection and joining the SBS (Special Boat Service) where he served for a further 10 years.

Nim’s book ‘Beyond Possible: One Soldier, Fourteen Peaks — My Life In The Death Zone’ is out now.
