If William Eggleston takes a photo of a bin, it gets exhibited and published. If the rest of us take a photo of a bin, what exactly is that? Today we celebrate unremarkable photography. Or maybe photography of the unremarkable. Actually, probably both. Jeremiah has been building a body of work specifically aiming to be unremarkable - and it’s harder than it looks!

So, you thought photography was a creative endeavour? Well, it turns out, if you want to compete there is a formula to hit.

There are people in the world whose job it is to tell you if you are doing photography right or wrong. How do they tell? See formula above. Do you agree? Is competitive photography even a valid concept?

Most important perhaps, are you now more inspired to push you art and craft further - or are you saddened at the formulisation of our beloved art?

All this and more is put to the test and Chris has used the rules to generate some "Award Winning" images 😀

As we head towards the annual Apple announcements, we always love to speculate - with a TFOP twist. The thing is, beyond an incremental spec bump, what would actually make our phones more useful and fun and creative and inspiring to shoot with? Where exactly are they going to put the physical exposure compensation dial on the new models 😀 ?

Adrian (well really Emma, Adrian’s better half) is considering a new printer. For her craft products business: https://www.liftmeupcrafts.com (which BTW has a 20% off summer sale at the moment 😉).

So this is a great opportunity for Adrian to seek advice from Jeremiah, who is much more knowledgeable about this stuff. We start with the most important question… “what do you want to print?” and go from there.

This is the printer under consideration.

271 Megapixels to Memory Gaps: The Digital Age Dilemma Aug 30, 2023

When you take a photo of something, an event or place, do you remember it better? When an old photo pops up, does it trigger the sights, sounds and emotions of the time? Studies show that you might experience a "photo-taking impairment effect" that actually reduces your memory of when the photo was taken.

We have lots to share and discuss on this - our own experiences, our own family stories and more.
