I love bringing you men's stories at all stages of their health and fitness journeys and this week we talk to an awesome guy who is less than a year into it! Ed Hale faced his mortality at the end of last year when he was hospitalized with pneumonia and respiratory failure. This trauma lit a fire in him that burns to this day. He's 80 pounds down and working towards making his career dreams a reality. He's far from done with the work he needs to do but brings an incredible perspective on what he has done and how he will focus on what needs doing from here!

In August of 2020 Justin Dobbins first appeared on the Forum in Episode 92 (Or 93 if you're Apple!) and we dove into his incredible 400 pound weight loss. You can listen here! Now he's returned to talk about the impact of his life as at 700 pounds and his weight loss on his mental health, and the journey of recovery he has been on for two years! While significant weight loss can save a person's life it is also something incredible traumatic in ways that we don't often discuss. This week we do and I am excited for you to hear this important discussion.

John Turner had a turbulent childhood that shaped how he entered his life as an adult. When he stepped on his 385 pound limit scale and it read "Error" he decided he needed to make a change. He found keto through a friend and started his journey to not only finding a passion for health and fitness, but the happiness that had been missing in his life for a long time. John is sharing his story today to encourage and support others who have faced similar challenges. He even recently became an ISSA certified trainer!

During that talk Bryan was certain that diet and exercise alone were going to be the tools he needed to succeed, in concert with working on his mindset and perspective. During our new talk he reveals that he eventually realized that while the changes he had made were powerful, he would need a new tool to take him where he wants to be. Bryan had WLS in February of this year and we talk about the mental challenges making that choice presented and what it has been like for him since then. It is an open honest look at how a journey never ends, but things can certainly change!
