Alec Baldwin had a hearing on May 17th, 2024 that lasted over 2 hours! The defense argues that the grand jury indictment should be dismissed due to prosecutorial bad faith and that there were structural errors in the grand jury indictment. The judge asked pointed questions to the prosecution about their conduct.

The prosecution had leaked the date of the indictment to the New York Times, cut off witnesses during their testimony, and didn't reach out to other possible witnesses' attorneys to let them know they might be needed for that hearing. The judge stated that they would make a written ruling this week and with the amount of questions the judge had, it is possible that the dismissal could get granted.

Kouri Richins’ defense attorneys filed a motion to disqualify the prosecution and to designate the "Walk The Dog" letter as attorney-client privilege. Subsequently, the firm withdrew from her case. This will delay Richins's preliminary hearing that is currently set for June.

CNN published a video of Diddy assaulting Cassie at a hotel in 2016. The Los Angeles Police Department said it was aware of the video but was unable to charge Diddy due to the statute of limitations. Cassie's lawyers put out a statement about the video, “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”

Diddy posted a video apology on Instagram stating that he is disgusted with his conduct in the video while he still keeps up the post stating that didn't do things alleged in the lawsuits against him.

I also summarize week 3 of the Karen Read trial as more civilian witnesses take the stand. We finished Friday with the direct examination of Jen McCabe and expect that cross-examination will be spicy on Tuesday.

I broke down the Bryan Kohberger Hearing on May 2nd, 2024. The defense and prosecution agree that the hearing scheduled for May 16th, 2024 should be closed but do not agree that the hearing on May 14th, 2024 should also be closed.

Ann Taylor argues the hearing on May 14th should not be closed because it is in the interest of Kohberger's 6th Amendment Right to have a public trial. The prosecution argues that the proceedings before the public trial are not obligated to be in the public and that they need to balance the interests, privacy, and sensitive information as a right to a fair trial.

Judge John Judge ultimately sides with the prosecution to have a closed hearing on May 14th, 2024 signing a subpoena for the FBI to produce evidence for cell towers, amongst other things, that should have been provided over 6 months ago.

Scandoval Lawsuit. Ariana Madix wants it dismissed. Tom Sandoval blames Rachel May 08, 2024
    Show notes

The co-stars of Vaderpump Rules - Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval - have responded to Rachel Leviss' lawsuit against them. Ariana Madix has filed an Anti-SLAPP motion requesting the whole claim against her be thrown out and her attorney's fees paid.

Ariana states that she never distributed the video to anyone. Ariana also states that she recorded a clip of the video from Tom's phone and sent it to Rachel with a text stating "You are DEAD TO ME".

Tom Sandoval filed a Demurrer to Complaint and Motion to Strike. His attorneys claim that the video file he obtained was created by Rachel and sent to Tom by her. Rachel Leviss' attorney has also put out a statement stating that she never created and sent the video to Tom Sandoval and Ariana's account of how she discovered the relationship is false.

Rachel has since said that she will continue to pursue the lawsuit.

Britney Spears has finally settled the outstanding legal issues in the conservatorship. This includes James Spears’ requests for legal fees and the 12th accounting, which the parties have been fighting over since 2020.

Although the settlement terms are private, there is much to be learned from the court documents, and today I will be going over all of them.

The previous trial date has been vacated, and the only remaining issue is payment to Britney’s former lawyer, Sam Ingham. I expect that matter to be resolved next month.

Karen Read finally has jurors for the trial but has moved to a different courtroom where the jurors can better see the witness.

The Alec Baldwin case has been updated with more filings between the defense and prosecution.

The judge in the Bryan Kohberger case allows the potential juror survey to continue in Latah and other surrounding counties.

And finally, there was a fifth arrest made in the Kansas Missing Moms Case.

Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley's bodies were found after they were reported missing on March 30th, 2024. Veronica Butler was going through a custody battle with Tifany Adams who is her children's paternal grandmother. The children's father was in rehab during the time of the disappearance. Jilian Kelley was the person who was authorized to supervise visits.

Subsequently, Tifany Adams and her boyfriend Tad Cullum, as well as married couple Cole and Cora Twombly were arrested on April 13th, 2024, and held without bond. The charges include 1st-degree murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy to murder in the first degree.

Cora's teenage daughter, CW, bravely told OSBI that she overheard the group's plans for the homicide, the existence of 2 burner phones and that she was forced to clean the truck after the murders and the previous attempts on Butler's life. With a considerable amount of digital evidence, we'll see if this tragic case goes to trial.

The Karen Read trial started with jury selection on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024. She is accused of fatally running over her boyfriend, John O'Keefe, with her SUV while drunk. Karen maintains her innocence and claims that there is a cover-up.

The TikTok Psychic defamation case had a hearing for summary judgment. Both the plaintiff and defendant had a chance to argue their cases. The judge will decide in writing soon.

Bryan Kohberger filed an alibi stating that his phone records would show that he was not in the area at the time of the murders.

Alec Baldwin gets a new prosecutor added to his case. And the Oklahoma Texting Judge ended up costing the state over $111K in attorney's fees.
