**The Dwight and Patty Show**

We are Dwight and Patty, as you might have guessed, two people in a. band called, The Wind and The Wave. We used to broadcast live internet “shows” while on tour, usually from a terrible hotel room on a day off. That show was called ‘The Dwight and Patty Show.’ Those odd little moments, almost more than any other, continue to be one of our most requested pieces of content, so we decided to jump into the podcast ocean to see if we could swim. This podcast is what happens when two bandmates talk about their experiences as artists and humans. For those who enjoy what we do, are able and want to support the show, you can do so at patreon.com/thewindandthewave.

Our podcast is sweeping the nation!!! Patty didn’t die soooo success! Also it’s period week. Does Dwight have a period ? Is Patty enjoying doing this podcast ? She claims yes because we are super productive. We have a bunch of new covers we cut! Maybe we will do some vinyl ...maybe not... people were uncool to Maggie Rogers during her concert in Austin. Must be people that just moved here..... catcalling is dumb. A couple more emails this week. Thanks for sending them and keep them coming . It pleases Patty and makes us feel like someone gives a shit. What’s the guidelines for handshakes?! What’s the meat of the greet ? Patricia doesn’t shake technicians hands. Patricia suffers from hyperhydrosis... Patricia doesn’t write songs about Dwight and would give up sugar for lent if she practiced it.

Comparison is the Devil Nov 05, 2019

Upon receiving compensation for the song placement in Lucy In The Sky, Patty treated herself to a small spree at All Saints. Patty, Dwight and Kelly have a name for their new band, which is not to be named yet. The record should be done before Christmas. If you’re a drummer, check out A&F Drums. We should have Ramy on the show! We’re working on some 80s cover songs, so become a Patreon supporter to hear those! Patty loves comedian, @jugglingthejenkins. It bothers Dwight to see others in his field, those he thinks are less talented than he is, play the game better than he does, seemingly more successful. He is also reminds us what is really important in life. Thanks, D! It’s important to be grateful for what we have, and live your life...in moderation.

Patty and her popcorn stories. Dwight does something for Patty in the credits of the Lucy In The Sky movie. Patty loves the Amazon Prime series, The Man In The High Castle. Drummer Nick Spreigl is producing in LA, and we love this new song he produced called “Summer 17” by Jamal Anthony. Frank Ocean vibes! Patty reflects on her experience at Dan Savage’s film festival for amateur porn, HUMP! (Patty and her husband are not drinking for the month of October.) Cam girls, and safe sex work, you know, like Trunk-or-Treating. Patty still kind of wants to be naked in a music video, and she loves her husband’s “Mexican rice.” Dwight is curious what Patty’s love language is. She plans to take a test and report back soon. Patty looks back and appreciates her mother for all of her hard work to take care of her family while working two jobs.

Dwight has the body of a young stallion... Oct 15, 2019

Show notes

Dwight has the body of a young stallion now. He still has a scab from that hotel room hornet sting that happened the last week of tour. Patty is welcome to Dwight’s house for Thanksgiving, but she’ll have to email his mom Susie first. Things Dwight likes about studio clients. Things he doesn’t like. Patty finds its important to shake people’s hands and introduce herself. You have anxiety? We have anxiety too! Dwight reads a review from our show in Dundee. Our guitarist, Scott Garret Graham has a new record out. It’s called Through The Looking Glass. Go listen to it! (Patty was not the infamous salad slurp-er, by the way.) The Wind and The Wave started as an unofficial SXSW showcase, because our friends in bands couldn’t get into a proper SXSW showcase. We did it two years in a row, and it was a huge success. It also became the name of a songwriting group we started back in the day. By the way, those are a great way to hone your craft.

From Hollywood to Skid Row (Haley Johnsen) Oct 01, 2019

Show notes

Haley Johnsen is here! You may know her from American Idol, or from her opening slot touring with The Wind and The Wave, a career highlight for sure. Reading The Artist’s Way, and her psychologically manipulative experience on American Idol gave her the confidence to pursue a career in music on her own. Following the show, Haley locked herself away in her parents shed to work on her songwriting craft, and started playing local shows around Portland. We dive into Haley’s process as an independent artist for songwriting, choosing a producer, recording her latest album and more!

An imperfect vocal take can be an amazing vocal take. Deadlines can be a really effective for creativity. Haley’s new album Golden Days is trying to help you find a more positive perspective on the human experience, despite how hard it can be sometimes. Go stream it now wherever you listen to music, follow Haley on all the things and go see her sing backup vocals and playing bass live with Big Wild! What can’t this woman do???

We’re back from the UK now, and can’t wait to update you on where we’re at creatively. Email us at thedwightandpattyshow@gmail.com. Follow us on Insta—> @thedwightandpattyshow. Thank you to all of our new supporters on Patreon! FYI, the Half Priced Books on South Lamar in Austin has an original pressing of our first album with the download card for sale. The slow destruction of Hurricane Dorian is depressing, as is the burning rainforest. Can technology save Antarctica? The pollution and waste in India is insane. Amazon has a new option to request no packaging on certain items. Are all our recycling efforts being wasted? We need more public transportation! What are we going to do about all the homeless people? Patty’s never seen Skid Row. In case you’re wondering, there are several songs that Patty has been featured on over the years with other artists. Check ‘em out and let us know what you think!
