    Show notes

It’s official! Only 10 candidates qualified for the next Democratic debate meaning they all fit on one stage and it will only be one night. We are also finally get that Biden vs. Warren matchup that didn’t happen in the first two debates. Punishments can range from bans on leaving the country, not letting your kids into private schools and even being put on a public blacklist. While this system plays out there, Silicon Valley is building a parallel system brought on by tech industry user policies. Insurance companies can base premiums on what they find in your social media. A company called PatronScan can also put you on a blacklist for getting into bars across the U.S and even abroad. Mike Elgan, contributor to Fast Company, joins us for the Silicon Valley social credit system.

The “chicken sandwich wars” are over… for now. Popeyes had the most successful product launch in their history with their new chicken sandwich. Biden's Electability Argument Hits a Snag Aug 28, 2019
    Show notes

Former Vice President Joe Biden has enjoyed front-runner status among the 2020 Democrats since the beginning, but his electability argument may have just hit a snag. Amie Parnes, senior political correspondent at The Hill, joins us for more.

Next, we are living on a planet increasingly overrun with plastic. More specifically, microplastics are showing up everywhere, even in drinking water. Dan Vergano, science reporter for BuzzFeed News, lets us know why we don’t need to worry, at least for now.

Daniel Siegal, senior trials reporter at Law360, joins us for what this ruling means.

Next, the Lungs of the World are burning. The Amazon rainforest is burning at an unprecedented rate with over 40,000 fires in the Amazon this year. These fires are not wildfires or caused by climate change, instead they set by farmers and ranchers clearing existing farmland and increased deforestation. Rachel Feltman, editor at Popular Science, joins us for what to know about these fires.

Finally, it was all a hoax! Last week fear spread in Lancaster, California that a sniper could be on the loose targeting police.
