    The Corie Weathers Podcast

Corie Weathers is a licensed counselor who has spent two decades sitting with people in the middle of hard things. Marriages under strain. Families carrying more than anyone outside the house can see.

This podcast is that same conversation, opened up. Corie talks with guests, and sometimes straight to you, about marriage and connection, parenting through change, faith, mental health, and the culture we are all trying to live in right now. You get clinical insight without the clinical distance, and you leave with something you can use this week.

Corie is the author of Military Culture Shift and Sacred Spaces, and a licensed professional counselor and board certified coach. She was one of the Mighty25 Influencers of 2024 and the 2015 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year for her work with service members, families, and military academia. Each season takes its own shape. This one is simple and conversational, closer to how these talks actually happen at a kitchen table.

S5 E21 A CURE to the Cough: The Weinberger Method Nov 23, 2020
    Show notes

What if I told you I found the cure for the common cough? Well, it actually wasn’t me, but after our son fought an “Asthmatic cough” for four years we finally came across Dr. Weinberger and the “Habit Cough”. Joining me for this episode is Dennis Buettner, a Cough Research Director for Dr. Miles Weinberger, MD. and a veteran that works with NASA.

Dennis’s daughter Bethany went through the same thing our son did- coughing up to 5,000 times a day with no answers. Like many of you out there who are trying to find answers, both of our families went through endless doctors, diagnoses, and medications before doctors finally threw up their hands with nothing left to offer.

Dennis finally stumbled on some research about a pulmonologist who found the cure for the cough through suggestive therapy- teaching kids to be attentive to their bodies and stopping the cough in as little as 10 minutes! Bethany was able to stop her cough, so was our son, and now Dennis is spreading the word about how if you or someone you know can answer one question of his- you can stop the cough too.

Seriously, Dr. Weinberger has changed our lives. More importantly, he gave my son back his. For more on Dr. Weinberger and the Habit Cough: https://www.habitcough.com/

Who's Really in Charge? Season 4 Finale Oct 31, 2019
    Show notes

We are celebrating the end of Season 4 with a big question that likely everyone has asked... "Who is really in Charge?" Is it man? Is it God? When does God get in involved? Why doesn't he? Perhaps you are waiting on orders to your next assignment (like we are) and wondering if the people involved are listening to God. Or maybe you are praying for a promotion or for your spouse to turn back to God. Some of you may have even experienced abuse at the hands of someone else and are wondering, "Why didn't God intervene?" In this Sunday Special, I open up on my own journey to look into the Sovereignty of God and tackle these big questions by diving into what scripture says about it.

Thank you for a fantastic Season 4!

The Impact of Family Readiness on Marriage Aug 15, 2019
    Show notes

Matt joins me again for another episode where we talk about the impact of Family Readiness on the marriage. For years, decades even, the military has told families that their support makes the mission successful. Unfortunately, families are getting tired and are wondering at what cost. In this episode, Matt and I have an honest conversation on how families indeed play a pay in mission readiness but also how we can change our perspective to a more influential one that can change the trajectory of our entire family.

Part 2: The Role of the Family Jul 27, 2018
    Show notes

The topic of moral injury continues to be discussed within the military and veteran space, but many still are unclear what it is and how it impacts a person and their family. Moral injury is often described as the internal struggle a person goes through after being asked to do something that goes against his or her morals or values. For many of our service members, this is a real issues that deeply impacts their ability to recover. In this FANTASTIC interview, listen as I speak with Chaplain Timothy Mallard, a subject matter expert not only in moral injury, but soul injury. Soul injury, he describes, is an even deeper and sometimes more complicated injury to the soul- often not due to anything the person did- but more so done to them. Sit back with a cup of coffee and listen. You wont want to miss a word of this two-part conversation.
