BRUNCH: These Movies Are Ranked TOO HIGH on IMDB Mar 24, 2025

Show notes

It's no secret that we usually disagree with IMDB and think that a movie should be rated much higher than the rating on their website. But every once in awhile, we see a movie that is rated TOO HIGH. On today's brunch, we each give 5 movies that are a 7.0 or higher on IMDB and then tell you how much lower that rating should actually be in our opinion. These might sting- listener beware.

Blast From The Past (1999) Mar 19, 2025

Show notes

On today’s episode, we once again dive into a movie that was maybe not as well known as it should’ve been, but to those who have seen it, it is a revered classic. This movie includes three Oscar winners and gives us one of our favorite reoccurring versions of Brendan Frazer- a fish out of water. What would it really be like to emerge into the world after 35 years in a bunker? Did Adam ever, ya know, do the thing we do when we are alone sometimes? Why was Eve such a bitch? Is Troy the best third wheel ever? Join us as we discuss 1999’s Blast From The past

Best in Show (2000) Mar 12, 2025

Show notes

It’s time to enter the world of the Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show. It’s a strange world where judges look like they are made out of ham, Starbucks are often across the street from each other, and the Mayflower landed in Philadelphia, piloted by Christopher Columbus. But most importantly, it’s a world where god loves a terrier, even though they are eaten in some countries.

The stage is set for the tournament of tournaments… here we go.

My Cousin Vinny (1992) Mar 05, 2025

Show notes

Today's new episode is going to prove without a doubt that 'My Cousin Vinny' is still an enjoyable movie. The evidence in this episode is going to show that Marissa Tomei deserved her supporting actress award win and that Joe Pesci inspired a whole new generation of attorneys with his modern day take of a lawyer in a crusty, old, southern boomer world. You will hear the testimony’s of 3 passionate podcast hosts who most likely stole all their commentary and thoughts from other movie podcasts. As a listener, your verdict of this movie is gonna depend on what you think of the sworn testimony. Not what we think. What we think don't count. You're the jury. It's your job to decide what your modern day take is. We're gonna be asking you to return a verdict of not only a good modern day rating for this movie but we are also going to be asking your for a 5-star rating on Spotify and Apple Podcasts when you are done listening. The prosecution rests….

Movies included are D.A.R.Y.L, Inner Space, Clifford, Camp Nowhere, The Indian in the Cupboard, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, Star Kid, Strange Brew, Remote and many more. We reflect on how these movies were significant to us as kids because of how much we watched them on VHS and we wonder if any deserve it's own episode.
