91: How to handle people who trigger you , part 2 of 2 Dec 06, 2018
    Show notes

So, if you haven't listened to episode 90, which is part 1 of this little series- you'll want to go back and listen to that before you listen to this one. One huge thing came up for me when navigating this particular issue- and I can attribute it all to this exact quote: "Do not waste your time trying to explain yourself to people who are committed to misunderstanding you." That thought alone inspired this follow-up episode. Sometimes, we can put in all the work on ourselves as we need to. We can decide to rise up and not be a victim anymore- and yet, there will still be people in our lives who have made up their minds to misunderstand us. It's important to be aware of this, and what's even more important is how to navigate it, so that you're not a victim of this once again. Questions? 90: How to handle people who trigger you- part 1 of 2 Dec 04, 2018
    Show notes

So, I've committed myself to reading 30 books before I turn 30. I still have just over one year left... but, who's counting, right? I picked up the book "Loving What Is" written by Byron Katie. The tagline of the book reads: "Four questions that will change your life." Can't be so bad... so, I dove right in. Chapter 1 was great! The woman in question hates her husband and Byron Katie helps her work through these four questions to help this woman realize she doesn't actually hate her husband. Chapter 2- my turn. Katie wants the readers to take out pen and paper and write down one person, scenario, SOMETHING, that triggers them. The best part? You're not even supposed to try and be nice! So, I whip open a blank page in my journal- pen in hand, and I'm essentially foaming at the mouth for the opportunity to rip this person in my life (who's been a HUGE trigger for me for a while now) to SHREDS! And, then it hits me. I slam my journal shut, throw it off the bed, and shut the lights off. I know where this is going! And I'm not going to do it! But, if I'm so bothered by this person- constantly left feeling angry, unworthy, doubted, and even hated- why is there so much resistance to do the work in order to not be such a victim to her anymore? In this episode, I dive in to all of that and what it means. But, there's a huge caveat. And I save that for part 2 of this episode airing later this week :)

89: Stop Peeing Your Pants! Pelvic Floor Health with Vanessa Nov 29, 2018
    Show notes

Peeing your pants is not normal! This episode is for you if you... have a vagina. No, but really. Because if you have a vagina, then you have a pelvic floor and this stuff is important! Whether you're like me and have never been pregnant, or if you're currently pregnant, or are already postpartum, your pelvic floor health is crucial to your overall health, wellbeing, and also your comfort. Painful sex, incontinence, and tinkling while you workout are actually symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction. And in today's episode, Vanessa walks us through exactly what our pelvic floor is, where it is, and what we can do to help some of these issues. You can send me your questions on IG @christina_montalvo or email me at hello@christinamontalvo.com You can find Vanessa on IG @corestrengthmomma https://www.theinspiredactionmethod.com/p/hardcore-momstrong https://m.facebook.com/groups/616590445343873

88: The More You Have, The More You Waste- a mindset based episode about money, time, and energy management Nov 27, 2018
    Show notes

Women thrive off of learning empowering tools for three things specifically: their body, their relationships, and their money. Speaking about money mindset is actually one of my biggest passions, and in today's episode, I talk about an interesting theory I read about in a book I just finished reading: "Profit First" by Mike Michaelowics. The overarching premise is this: the more you have, the more you waste. In his book, he is strictly speaking to business owners and teaching them his own system on how to take a profit from your business. But it got me thinking: there is truth to this idea, regardless if you're a business owner or not! Ever get to payday, feel like the richest woman in all of the land, and then before you know it, you're left feeling broke again and reliving your story about how you have no money, your job sucks, and you're so broke? I'll be the first to tell you that it's not a money issue, it's a mindset issue! What about with our time? Ever notice you get SO MUCH LESS DONE on the days when you're less scheduled? Suddenly, the day gets away from you and you have no idea how you spent the last 12 hours? Yep, same thing- you're left with the same old story that you're stressed and have no time.

But is it a time issue? Or a lack of intention and mindfulness issue when it comes to how you use your time? We do the same thing with our health- MANY women (and men) feel healthy and capable... so, why exercise? Until one day, you realize your body has aged and slowed down, things hurt and ache, and you wish you wouldn't have wasted so many years taking ALL of that health and ability for granted. I'm telling you- the more we have, the more we waste! Tune in to dive more in depth about all of this and what you can do about it! Questions? 100% an impromptu episode! Less than 8 minutes long- but here for those of you who need a pep talk and a pat on the behind before you head off into a potential battle field around the Thanksgiving table. This very well may be you're first year not dieting at this time, and you're navigating food very differently this year than you have in past years. So I wanted to send you off for the rest of your day with some words of encouragement! I'd love to hear your successes from today (and all days!) and you can either drop them in my inbox hello@christinamontalvo.com, sent them to me on IG @christina_montalvo or share them with all of the women inside The Confidence Project Facebook group. 86: Stop Focusing On The Things That Make You Want to Quit Nov 20, 2018
    Show notes

No matter what you're working on or what your goal is, there is a specific metric that you're "SUPPOSED" to be focusing on. In the online business space, there are all of these metrics that you're "SUPPOSED" to look at: engagement, downloads, conversion rates, open rates, website traffic... the list goes on and on. In the weight loss world, you're supposed to be focusing on the scale. In the running world, it's distance or times. In the powerlifting world, it's kilograms. But what if the thing that you've been told you're SUPPOSED to be focusing on is discouraging you? What if you're missing the boat on the myriad of other things that you COULD be focusing on that help you feel invigorated and inspired? Sometimes, the things we've been focusing on causes us to miss the forest for the trees. In today's episode, I talk about how I literally stopped focusing on all the things I was told I was SUPPOSED to focus on. You'll have to tune in to see if it made a difference or not ;) Questions? hello@christinamontalvo.com

85: Existing as a Woman, Body Shaming, Stress + Fertility, & Weight Stigma within Health Care, with Jessica of Wholly Healed Nov 15, 2018
    Show notes

If the Confidence Project were to cease to exist, THIS would be the episode I'd let the show go out with. Seriously. Lucky for you, I'm not going anywhere, but that's how obsessed I am with this episode. Jessica of Wholly Healed spends the hour dropping truth bomb and truth bomb about being a woman, why women compete with one another, why we police each other, the correlation between stress and fertility, and almost everything in between. If this is the first, only, or last episode you listen to on The Confidence Project Podcast, you will not be disappointed. As always, I'd love if you could take a screen shot of you listening to this episode, share it on social media & tag me so I can see who's following along! 84: Should You Sleep More or Exercise More? Stress, Fat Loss, and Wellbeing Nov 13, 2018
    Show notes

If given the choice, should you sleep-in or workout? The answer: it depends. Even I'm guilty of not addressing the importance of sleep often enough, but it really is a topic that's almost always overlooked. An overabundance of stress inside the body is literally THE THING that breeds disease. Chronic stress will kill you faster than anything. So what does sleeping and exercise have to do with it? Almost everything. We're all currently living inside of a society that idolizes busy, stressed, and exhausted go-getters, which makes this topic even harder to navigate. But trust me, you'll want to listen to this one so that you can decide when you should be hitting snooze and when you should be hitting the gym. 83: The Art of Maintaining Friendships with Emily Gough Nov 08, 2018
    Show notes

I've got my girl Emily Gough from The Room to Grow Podcast with me today, and it's a fun one! No one ever tells us how to make friends, keep them, or even how to break up with them. Yet, you can find countless resources on how to find, fix, and maintain your romantic partners. Why is no one talking about this other stuff?! Take it from the girl who, for quite some time, thought she'd be OK dying alone in a mansion surrounded by dogs (this would still be totally cool for me actually, ha!) having solid friendships into my adult life has been life changing. Shit gets heavy sometimes and having a support system outside of your partner and your parents is super important. So, what are you supposed to do when you don't want to be friends with someone anymore? What are you supposed to do if you're in your late 20's or early 30's and your need for friendships changes? We're talking all about that on today's episode! You can send your questions to the private facebook group here, send me a DM on IG @christina_montalvo or shoot me an email hello@christinamontalvo.com

82: There Is No Luck Here- How Not Being Lucky Has Taught Me How To Work Hard Nov 06, 2018
    Show notes

I giggled through almost this entire episode as I recounted only just a few of the things that taught me early on that I was never going to be "a lucky girl." It started in Kindergarten, to be honest, and the losing situations just kept on piling themselves on. This isn't even close to 1% of the situations I've been in where the Universe essentially kept telling me "try harder." And so, while my life is far from extraordinary, constant failures and setbacks have done one thing for me: taught me how to keep fighting for whatever I want. Every single thing I have in my life right now has been the product of nothing but hard work. No luck, no fortune. Just a solid support system (what's up Mom & Dad!) and a desire to rise. At the end of the day, I'd rather be a product of hard work instead of luck. After each mountain that I've climbed, I'm able to say "I worked my ass off to get here", and that's held true in every facet of my life: health, body, brains, and business. I hope you decide to share some of your stories of triumph with me! DM me on IG @christina_montalvo, send me an email or hop into The Confidence Project Facebook Group and share your story with us all! hello@christinamontalvo.com
