    250. Why Wealth Won’t Fix Your Loneliness or Set You Free Jun 25, 2025
    Show notes

This is Part 2 of our two-part series on wealth, desire, and the Catholic heart.

In Part 1, we asked: Is the love of money the root of all evil? We explored how wealth is often tied to our desire for happiness and security.

Now in Part 2, we dig into two more deceptive promises of money:

    • “Wealth will make people love me”
    • “Wealth will finally set me free”

Matt and Erin expose how these thoughts show up in our temperaments, our wounds, and our walk with God, and how they subtly shift our trust from the Father to our finances.

    You’ll learn:

    • How money becomes a false savior for loneliness and fear
    • The danger of letting other people’s opinions define your worth
    • Why real freedom doesn’t come from your bank account
    • How to pray, repent, and reorder your desires toward God

If you’ve ever said, “When I make more money, then I’ll feel secure/loved/in control”, watch this now.

God gave you those desires. Don’t settle for a counterfeit.

    249. Money, Happiness, and God: What Are You Really Chasing? Jun 18, 2025
    Show notes

Is it a sin to desire wealth?

In this episode of The Catholic Coaching Podcast, Matt and Erin tackle one of the most common but unspoken struggles among Christians: the emotional and spiritual tension between money and holiness. What if the desire for wealth isn’t the problem, but our reason for desiring it is?

    You’ll learn:

    • How to discern whether your desire for wealth is rooted in love of money or love of mission
    • What the Church teaches about happiness (beatitude) and its connection to money
    • How to know if wealth has become an idol in your life
    • The difference between using money as a means or treating it as an end
    • Simple mindset shifts to move from fear and scarcity to freedom and trust

If you've ever thought, "I’ll feel safer or happier when I have more money," this conversation is for you.

God wants to renew your mind.
He wants to be the source of your peace, not your bank account.
