Coffee badging is today's Millennial word of the day. This is when you show up for the start of the work day, have a bit of a coffee and a chat with your coworkers, and then head home.

Why aren't we wearing cardigans anymore? Kelly is a cozy cozy girl wearing her cover-your-butt cardigan and she's here for their revival. The hobby farm Kelly and Tyler are building is impressive: another dog, chickens, sheep, pigs, cows, and a miniature horse. She'll also be learning to bake sourdough, of course. Lizz brings a snippy snappy game to the show today: zodiac signs – which car are they? She also shares the most secondhand, embarrassing thing she has ever experienced from the newest season of Love Is Blind.

Ditch the drive-through steak bites for Febru-air-y comes from Stacy. Chop your steak in bite-sized pieces. Put them in a bowl with two tablespoons of oil, salt and pepper. Air fry 400 for four to six minutes. While they cook, heat up butter on the stove and add garlic. Add the cooked steak to the butter, top with parsley, and serve with a salad or your favorite Pillsbury Crescent rolls to have dinner on the table in 15 to 20 minutes.

And a bonus recipe, Ashley's Cowboy Cornbread Casserole, gets another mention: Brown your ground beef in a cast iron skillet (it must be a cast iron), add a can of Rotel, a can of corn, drained red kidney beans, and mix then pat down. Make cornbread according to the box directions then drop the mix all over the bean mixture. It doesn't have to be pretty! Bake according to the cornbread directions.

The superbowl takes over today's driveway dumps. After the reaction to Usher's halftime show, Kelly and Lizz are asking if people are unwell. The ridiculous Apple goggles will not be a bank account subtraction for Kelly or Lizz on today's last three transactions—or maybe ever. Fire extinguishers and dishwashers do top the list, though and Kelly wants to know, what happened to fridges with water spouts? Kelly and Lizz are closing out their 2024 travel marathon and coming to you from Arizona. The gals are done with on-the-go food drama and Kelly's ready to move into her new house.

Today's millennial word of the day is buzzin.' As in, Kelly is really buzzin' about her new countertops.

People doing daily affirmations with their kids aren't exactly giving Kelly the ick, but she's got opinions. Rather than pumping her kids up, she'll be pointing out their character in action. Hattie, George, and Fred will be decked out in matching easter outfits after Kelly's Gymboree haul and Lizz is happy to take advantage of the bunny-sweater years while she can. Kelly finished reading Fourth Wing and tuned into the Fantasy Fangirls podcast to boost her comprehension. A super bowl car ad recap is on its way so make sure to catch the BMW, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Kia superbowl ads before the next Carpool episode.

    KELLY BOUGHT A HOUSE! Feb 08, 2024
    Show notes

The number one auto podcast? It's true, the Carpool has hit the number one spot (at least a handful of times). And while Kelly and Lizz may still be bummed about the choke hold Uncle Sai has on the number one spot in the leisure category, they're proud to be two moms making waves in the auto space

The Merriam Webster word of the day is emote — something Kelly has no trouble with. You may be emoting, too, if you're someone who unabashedly expresses their feelings.

In today's dumpity-do-das Kelly's a Detroit Lions fan from here on out with good reason. She also is loving her new Ford Expedition demo with a bench seat she's truly obsessed with. Both gals learned, yet again, that they should never check a bag even though they did manage to retrieve theirs in the chaos of travel. Kelly's still not sure what to do about her travel cosmetic dilemmas, though. A big thank you goes out today to eBay motors for hosting a fantastic safety centric snow tire event.

Their pans are not only beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, they also come with the perfect organization system. Over 65,000 people have given Caraway kitchenware five stars. Now it's time to try it for yourself.

The Stumpes bought a fixer upper that Kelly's finally ready to share about and Lizz is concerned that she's way too chill about the renovations, furniture, and move. Lord of the Rings bingeing is on Lizz's agenda while Kelly is focusing on being a well read girly having just finished Remarkably Bright Creatures. The gals propose we normalize giving one star reviews and discuss how they rate their media.

Ditch the drive-through brings you three delicious ways to get out of your kitchen rut with a salad, a casserole, and a side dish suggestion. For a tasty Tuna pasta salad from Stephanie combine one can of tuna, chopped celery, and chopped pickles. Add Kelly's ranch dressing minus the ranch part (mayo, sour cream and Greek yogurt), salt pepper, dill weed, and garlic powder. Mix and serve!

To make Maria's not-a-tot casserole you'll need one packet of bacon, a frozen bag of tater tots, ranch dressing mix, shredded cheese, eight eggs, and two cups of milk. Cook and crumble the bacon, combine with the cheese and tater tots and pour into a greased 9 x 13 baking dish. In another bowl, mix the eggs, ranch packet, and milk. Pour over the tater tot mixture. Bake at 350 for 50 to 60 minutes.

Follow Kelly's lead and embrace canned fruit as your new friend. Ditch those spoiled-before-you're-home berries and stock up on canned pineapple, peaches, and pears that are good until you open them.

CAR CONSULTATION FOR DOUG DEMURO Feb 06, 2024
    Show notes

The one and only Doug DeMuro is here for a milestone interview today. Join Kelly, Lizz and one of the OGs of YouTube car reviews!

Recently, Kelly watched Doug's first ever YouTube video and realized…everyone starts somewhere. Remember: don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle. Kelly and Doug talk about how they've built YouTube success through finding their audiences and format—despite the online vitriol.

Doug's channel covers everything from vintage minivans to Lamborghinis, giving viewers the scoop on each cars quirks and features. But, when his family started to grow his focus on personal safety intensified. Since he's currently looking to upgrade and considering the Sequoia, he and Kelly debate which family vehicle would be right for his unique off-roading, cross-country, and car-seat needs. Kelly also drops her car seat recommendations for tight-squeeze situations, the Evenflo Revolve Slim.

EVs and hybrid family vehicles make an appearance on the show too. How is Doug adapting? Does he plan to drive an EV anytime soon? Listen in to find out.

There's no shame in dropping a hint to your Valentine that you'd love a gift from Caraway Homes. Their non-toxic kitchenware is not only beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, they have something for every kind of cook. Their cookware features a chemical-free ceramic coating so food can be prepared with peace of mind that no hard to pronounce chemicals will leach into your healthy ingredients. Over 65,000 people have given Caraway kitchenware five stars. Now it's time to try it for yourself.

On today's ditch the drive-through, Doug admits most of his meals are a little complicated or come from a meal service. His go-to for a quick meal is inspired by his kiddo who's brought him back to this undeniably tasty favorite—dino nuggets. Kelly suggests throwing chicken nuggets into a wrap or onto a salad with a bit of buffalo sauce to upgrade the meal.

THE REALITY OF BEING A JETSETTER Jan 25, 2024
    Show notes

These gals are booked, busy, and building their bucket list — in spite of their hate for travel. And due to their jam packed jet-setting schedule there will be no Carpool next week!

Can this Merriam Webster word of the day save Lizz from hearing Kelly overuse ‘granular’ in their next meeting? You can sound smart too when you use today's word, conflate which means to confuse or blend.

In driveway dumps, Kelly and Lizz wonder if David Henry is getting a little thirsty with the spin off of Wizards of Waverly Place coming up. The Car Mom car of the year sparked unexpected controversy that the gals are so over. Caden Lane’s matching swimsuits are not equivalent to Christmas jammies. And Tyler has rose-colored glasses when it comes to Kelly’s bounce back (or does he?).

Listen in to find out which ones Kelly and Lizz are reaching for during their next trip to the grocery store.

A listener writes in and asks for Lizz’s advice on setting up a home gym to get her 15-30 minute workout in every day. Her top recommendations are a treadmill and dumbbells as well as her favorite apps and IG accounts: OWNU app, Lively Girl Fitness, and Kelly’s go-to Madeline Moves.

Industry news is short, sweet, and very exciting: Kelly’s upgrading to a new demo, a Limited Expedition with a bench!

THE GREAT CHIP EIGHT Jan 23, 2024
    Show notes

Kelly and Lizz are on a secret mission in Montana today! Details to come in February, but for now…an episode of the Carpool to get you through this slumpy time of year.

Clean girl aesthetic was in, now the mob wife aesthetic is taking over. Kelly and Lizz have mixed feelings about the trend and are sharing it all on today's driveway dumps. They also wonder…are the Kardashians in their flop era? On the topic of self-centered consumption, Kelly gives a nod to @BallerinaFarm who is competing in Mrs USA 12 days postpartum, even though she probably wouldn’t do the same herself.

The great eight of chips is here! Going head to head in this crunchy battle are Cool Ranch Doritos, Cheetos, Twisted BBQ Fritos, and BBQ Chips, Salt and Vinegar, Sour Cream and Onion, Jalapeno Kettle, and Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips.

Today’s episode is brought to you by Zocdoc. When you’re struggling to find a doctor who you can see sooner than later, try Zocdoc. A mom who’s currently driving a Ford Escape is ready to shop for a mid-size SUV to tote around her 3 and 5 year old. Kelly recommends checking out the Kia Sorento, loaded with amenities, to suit the family while the kiddos grow. Another listener, a self proclaimed toy hot mess express, asks for advice on non-toy options for Christmas and birthday gifts.

Kelly names the top selling used SUVs of 2023 in industry news. A redesigned Honda Passport is on its way. And EV rental car news is giving juice, juice, juice, juice, juice as Hertz sells off a third of its EV fleet. Someone send Elon a new PR head, quick.

Today’s ditch the drive-through is Razi’s Cilantro Lime Chicken and Rice. Take two chicken breasts, cover in olive oil, squeeze half of a lime over the chicken and then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder and chili powder. Do yourself a favor and buy some disposable gloves so you can pop those on and mix the chicken up before cooking it in a pan on the stove.

To make the cilantro lime sauce place one third cup cilantro, one jalapeno without seeds, two garlic cloves, juice of half a lime, one third cup of plain Greek yogurt, one teaspoon of honey, and salt and pepper to taste. Blend.

    Show notes

Kelly’s got jet setting plans for the first quarter of 2024. Speaking at the National Automotive Dealers Association and a family trip to Arizona will keep her busy and in plenty of airports she won’t enjoy.

The Merriam Webster word of the day is bunkum, meaning nonsense or foolish and insincere talk or language.

In today’s driveway dumps, Kelly’s done with $9 strawberries and having a canned fruit epiphany. The gals bring their crash course in micro-influencing so you can find your niche, plan your social media, and leave the bunkum at the door. Lizz shares her new healthy recipe source @raziyyz on Instagram.

    IT'S GIVING JETSONS Jan 16, 2024
    Show notes

Kelly and Lizz are stuck at home and bringing a special long-distance episode of the Carpool podcast. The gals kick off the show with A Pickleball report that might just have you reaching for a racquet.

Today’s Merriam Webster word of the day is cosplay. Kelly and Lizz share their favorite things about social media cosplay content.

On the driveway dumps, Kelly is obsessing over mocktails with benefits including Ollipops and Poppis. Her kiddos are all about the new YouTube movement channel Go Danny Go. And Lizz has thoughts about gaming, whether old time parenting was really that much better, and the kind of practical solutions today’s parents need.

Kelly has chosen her air fryer and kicks off the last three transactions with her selection. How has Kelly been momming without an air fryer for four years? Lizz picked up new jammies for James from Caden Lane and Little Sleepies and is now a proud owner of a Wild Bird Sling. Kelly’s shopping for her VIP Vegas trip and just bought a black sequin jumpsuit and scored a set of molds to make peanut butter cups.

When you’re ready to ditch the drive-through, reach for Caraway Homes, non-toxic kitchenware. Their pans are not only beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, they also come with the perfect organization system. Their cookware features a chemical-free ceramic coating so food can be prepared with peace of mind that no hard to pronounce chemicals will leach into your healthy ingredients. In industry news the Car Mom Car of the Year will be announced Thursday. At CES, a big tech convention, automakers unveil their latest concepts. The flying cars that might be on their way are giving Jetsons. VIN Fast shares its VF Wild mid-size truck concept. And Bosch introduces their potential solution to high-traffic, in-demand charging stations

Kelly and Lizz answer listener advice questions, “When did you know it was time to transition your kids to sharing a room?” And, “Is a car that’s a few years old really that different from a brand new one?”

Kelly’s creamy noodle bake recipe will help you ditch the drive-through this week. Just cook egg noodles and ground beef, add them with marinara to a 9x13 pan, place dollops of cream cheese and sour cream on top, and bake at 350 until bubbly.

The Bright Lights, Big Christmas recap is finally here. Kelly has a secret to tell and Lizz dishes all the spoilers. They enjoyed the scene and setting, found there was chemistry with some of the wrong characters, might have been missing smut, but offered a lot of fun hustle and bustle.
