We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS President Joe Biden came to Gus T.'s backyard, Seattle, Washington this week. He talked climate change and made a mess of traffic before hitting the road. The courts struck down the travel mask mandate on plains, buses and subways, which caused applause, confusion, and a new batch of Covid-19 rules. The president announced plans to appeal the decision. Major League Baseball recognized the extraordinary White Supremacy practiced against Jackie Robinson during his debut season 75 years ago. They frequently repeat the lie about Robinson being the first black player allowed to play professional baseball with Whites (It was actually Moses Fleetwood Walker). In Chicago, the residence where Black Panther Party member Fed Hampton lived as a child will be marked as a historic site. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. An attempted black mother wrote in about her young son's workplace conundrum. This teen worker has a retail job. He questioned a pair of White men who appeared to have looted soda pops. Apparently, the suspected looters mocked her young son and scoffed at the notion that they were #CrimingWhileWhite Interestingly, a black manager advised her child to let it go, "just two sodas." We'll discuss how other non-white parents would speak to their offspring about a situation like this. Gus encourages reviewing the policy and procedure for shoplifting. Also, remember, some shoplifters are armed. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the sixth study session on Essie Mae Washington-Williams' Dear Senator: A Memoir by the Daughter of J. Strom Thurmond. We're beyond the halfway point of the book, and Gus must admit this is likely the saddest book he's ever read. Essie Mae's confusion and father hunger for a child raping White Supremacist is... a sorrow-filled existence. Additionally, the lynchings and gender-specific targeting of black males are such traumatic, constant events in Essie Mae's life, readers can mark time by tracking black corpses. Last week, Ms. Essie Mae matriculated to South Carolina State College. She noted the prevalence of pale, #LightSkinGirls on campus and wondered if they had similar stories of White parentage (rape). Unfortunately, Willie Earle was lynched shortly after her enrollment at SC State. A White Terrorist mob snatched him from prison, butchered and shot him. No one was convicted. Essie Mae noted that none of her black classmates seemed concerned about lynching in their state. They seemed to think they were "better" than the "regular" black people who are lynched. Essie Mae also described dating Judge Matthew J. Perry until Adolf Hitler and World War II snatched him into the service. Eventually, Perry became a South Carolina lawyer, judge and member of the state Hall of Fame. Her father made time to visit Essie Mae between being governor of the state and marrying a 21-year-old White Woman, Jean Crouch, who "caught his eye" when she was 15-years-old. This broadcast is intended to encourage participation from non-white people in different parts of the world and Victims of Racism who are not able to join during the normal broadcast time. We'll do our obligatory check-in on Covid-19, and how different nations are preparing for the summer and the continued loosening of restrictions. We're also eager to hear how the New York subway rampage is being discussed internationally. The HD image of 62-year-old Frank R. James shackled and charged with terrorism has circulated the globe. We'll ask our international participants about the latest developments with the conflict in Ukraine. We'll also hear about the recent theater adaptation of Andrea Levy's Small Island, which depicts black immigrants who ventured to Europe during and after World War II. They helped topple Adolf Hitler, but were subjected to White Supremacy/Racism and denied proper documentation. James, a 62-year-old black male, is in custody as the alleged shooter on a Brooklyn subway earlier this week. Thankfully, no one perished, but nearly two dozen people were injured from gun fire, smoke inhalation, and fleeing the chaos. New York City, like many other major U.S. cities, has reported an increase in gun violence over the two years of the pandemic, and this is dramatic emphasis of the problem. In Michigan, none of the Whites accused of plotting to kidnap and execute Governor Gretchen Whitmer have been convicted - two not guilty verdicts and two mistrials so far. Meanwhile, Patrick Lyoya was fatally shot in the back of the head by a White Grand Rapids enforcement official. We also discuss the conviction of Ed Buck. A power-broker for the Democratic party, Buck was sentenced to thirty years for drugging, killing and sexually violating black males. This tragedy highlights the vulnerability of black workers. We each must do all that we can to prioritize our safety in the workplace. This would apply equally to those returning to the work environment after working from home during the pandemic. We've read roughly half of the text, and Gus must admit this is one of the saddest books he's ever read. Essie Mae's confusion and father hunger for a child raping White Supremacist is... a sorrow-filled existence. Speaking of conflict, the jousting continues over the controversial reparations package that was recently approved in California. Thus far, no checks have been written. Days after passage of the new anti-lynching legislation, reports are beginning to point out that black males may be prosecuted according to the new lynch law. *surprise* Interestingly, a new report suggests Whites became less concerned about the Covid-19 pandemic once it became thought of as a black person's disease. We'll also discuss the senseless death of a fourteen-year-old on a Florida "thrill" ride. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. A number of C.O.W.S. listeners have jobs that require security or medical clearance. One component of White Supremacy/Racism is to fabricate obstacles so that black employees fail to maintain the necessary clearance. This is another great motivator to eat healthy, drink lots of water and exercise often to maintain optimal body weight and fitness. We'll also revisit the dangers of "dating" a co-worker. Even hooking up with non-white workers colleagues can present a host of problems. We'll also hear from a number of extremely competent, accomplished black professionals who are still denied promotions and career development opportunities. We'll also discuss the horrific death of Aaron Henderson. This black male was gainfully employed and killed while at work. Specifically, he was crushed by a bulldozer while inside a portable toilet at a landfill site north Florida. His death has been ruled an accident, no criminal charges filed. Once again, black lives are not valued. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the fourth study session on Essie Mae Washington-Williams' Dear Senator: A Memoir by the Daughter of Strom Thurmond. Having read three chapters of the book and conducted a smidgen of research, it seems equally incredible or embarrassing for a White college professor like J. Russell Hawkins to be ignorant about Strom Thurmond raping and impregnating a teenage black female. #WhitePeopleLieALot From the time Thurmond died in 2003, countless news reports acknowledged that Carrie Butler was a child at the time Thurmond raped her. Last week, Ms. Essie Mae provided another round of details about the rampant squalor black people lived in because of White Supremacy. Interestingly, she also detailed the widespread White Supremacist medical practices targeting black people in New York: "blacks in Harlem couldn't get decent medical care. Harlem Hospital, if it treated blacks at all, did so in a similar way to Coatesville Hospital, putting them in the poverty ward, or, far worse, using them as medical guinea pigs, testing medicines and therapies on them without their knowledge or consent." #HenriettaLacks She describes White senators successful efforts to block anti-lynching legislation and more and more heaps of unemployed, down and out, no count, black males. Essie Mae briefly meets with her blue-eyed, White father, Strom Thurmond, for the second time and ponders if this strange White man had a "romance" with or was just sexually "using" her mother. Tellingly, Essie Mae says she "followed" heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis. But her "heart belonged to the adorable Frank Sinatra." This White entertainer has much in common with her White dad. Sinatra was 50 when he married 21-year-old Mia Farrow, who later married Woody Allen.
