The Context of White Supremacy hosts our debut study session on the autobiography of Assata Shakur. Formerly JoAnne Chesimard, Shakur is a veteran of the Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Army, a convicted cop killer, an escaped felon, the first woman ever placed on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist List, and an author. As President Obama has labored to improve relations with Cuba, Shakur's extradition continues to be a pivotal talking point. Her autobiography reveals how her understanding of her Racism evolved and what she should do to solve this problem. The book gives equal time to her account of being imprisoned and shackled for a crime she maintains she did not commit. Dr. Tommy Curry returns to The Context of White Supremacy. Dr. Curry is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Texas A&M. Dr. Curry's work spans across the various fields of philosophy, jurisprudence, Africana Studies, and Gender Studies; his primary research interests are in Critical Race Theory and Africana Philosophy. We last spoke with Dr. Curry following the lack of indictments for the deaths of Michael Brown, Jr. and Eric Garner. He stressed that under White Supremacy black death frequently becomes fodder for amusement. We're eager to hear his thoughts on the latest black victims to become famous in death - Eric Harris and Walter Scott. We'll get Dr. Curry's views on what most Whites think and feel about the continual footage of dead black people. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. Whites remained glued to their "riot code": appealed to non-violence, branded black people as thugs and looters, and again demonstrated that White-owned property matters more than black lives. Baltimore's state attorney Marilyn Mosby publicized that six officers would be charged for Gray's death - 3 White, 3 non-white. According to the Racist "riot code," Whites diverted discussions to #BlackOnBlackCrime. Only this time it was done in celebration of Toya Graham - a black female who's been championed for publicly pummeling her black son. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our eleventh - and final - study session on The Autobiography of Malcolm X: As Told To Alex Haley (1965). With no answers for Freddie Gray's death and Baltimore, Maryland in flames, the counsel of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz would be appreciated. 50yrs. years ago, Minister Malcolm foretold a year of violent eruptions in response to White Terrorism. 2015 and 1965 have many similarities. Last week's session described Minister Malcolm's return to the United States. He stressed that he no longer branded all Whites as Racist; his travels abroad revealed that there were White Muslims who did not oppose Justice, black people. His impending murder infects the last chapters of the text, where Min. Malcolm acknowledges the closeness of death. Alex Haley provided insightful post-script details as well. Andrew Heisel visits The Context of White Supremacy. Mr. Heisel resides in New Haven, Connecticut and is a freelance writer. His work has been published on Slate, Vice Sports, LA Review of Books, and The Washington Post. We'll explore his recent essay: The Last Two Minutes of NBA Games: A History of Racism, Money, and Boredom. He submits that the adage that one only need witness the final two minutes of a basketball contest is a codified way of transmitting Racist concepts. White animosity towards black people in general and black athletes in particular has generated extensive study. The proliferation of black NBA icons caused many White fans to produce (fabricate) any justification for "White flight" from the hardwood. We'll see if this is connected to White dislike of LeBron James and the looming prizefight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. The UC Berkeley Black Student Union visits The Context of White Supremacy. These Bay Area black scholars drafted a list of 10 demands "to improve conditions of black students on campus." Chancellor Nicholas Dirks ultimately responded to their stipulations by "[removing] his office from the responsibility to implement solutions." The undeterred students directed a large protest on Saturday, April 18th. They shutdown Sather Gate to illustrate the Racist academic environment black students are subjected to. Relatives of Oscar Grant were present. These rebellious scholars linked the White Power that governs their prestigious university to the White Power that extinguishes the lives of Rekia Boyd, Miriam Carey, Kenneth Harding, Jr. and many more. They've asked that a building on campus be renamed for former Black Panther and "wanted terrorist" Assata Shakur. Generally, Whites aren't much for forgiving or commemorating black females with natural hair or "cop killers." The University of Virginia's Dr. Andrew Kahrl visits The Context of White Supremacy. His research subjects include African American studies, 20th Century United States and the environment. Dr. Nathan Connolly cited Kahrl's research on the Racist economic terrorism that has been - is - targeting black people. The Land Was Ours: African American Beaches from Jim Crow to the Sunbelt South details the perpetual, White devotion to sabotaging, undermining and constricting black commerce, black property, and black cooperation. Kahrl's book explains how the System of White Supremacy necessitates, celebrates #BlackOnBlackCrime. This text corroborates Dr. Connolly's declaration that Racists have become frighteningly efficient at raping black space. Colorado's White Eric Harris was not shot in the back like Oklahoma's black Eric Harris. White Supremacy remains constant from trench coat to lab coat. J. Edgar Hoover's Federal Bureau of Investigation admitted to providing false testimony in hundreds of court cases that surely confined or executed scores of black sons, black mothers. There's not been a mumble on reparations or criminal prosecution of FBI "experts." Speaking of Justice, Loretta Lynch has been confirmed to replace Eric Holder as attorney general. Lynch is the first black female to hold the office. One of her first duties will likely involve responding to the mysterious death of Freddie Gray; his spine was 80% severed. The Context of White Supremacy holds the tenth study session on The Autobiography of Malcolm X: As Told To Alex Haley (1965). The voice of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz continues to provide a correct indictment of the global conglomerate of White Terrorism. The war against black people that Minister Malcolm invested his life opposing continues; the relevance of his life and work evidenced daily. Last week's session described Malcolm's hajj to Mecca. He explained how his experience changed his understanding of Whites. He believed that if more White people would dedicate themselves to Islam, it could help eliminate Racism. He also revealed how Whites distorted the global perception of the White Terrorism targeting black people in the United States. He made this a point of emphasis during all of his discussions with African students and "leaders."
