The Context of White Supremacy hosts our Friday weekly forum on neutralizing Workplace Racism. June is set to begin, and with the new month, numerous states across the U.S. will begin a more robust opening of businesses and other activities that have been closed and prohibited during the coronavirus quarantine. Numerous businesses around the land have reopened and workers and patrons are braving the new world of social distancing. A sizable number of black and non-white workers have been denied the chance to remain sheltered in their comfy homes. We'll ask listeners what precautions their employers have taken to maintain safety. A variety of meat packing companies across the U.S. continue to face allegations of unsafe conditions that threaten workers and consumers's health. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 8th study session on Dr. Llaila O. Afrika's Nutritional Destruction Black People (Nutricide). Dr. Afrika is an internationally acclaimed author, naturopathic healer, certified acupuncturist, nutrition counselor and addictionologist. His surprising death in March of this year saddened and stunned many. He was 74. We were scheduled to read Dr. Afrika's work at some point this year, but there was no urgency to select a time. The coronavirus changed everything. Seemingly days after many around the world joked that black people are immune to "the rona," an avalanche of reports announced that black people in the U.S. are dying at alarming numbers from the so-called coronavirus. The history and continued practice of #MedicalAprtheid, abusing and experimenting on black patients, is one theory to explain the high number of fatalities. But obesity, cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes and a host of other diet-related health problems seem to be correlated with a higher risk of dying from the coronavirus. The current health crisis demanded that we open Dr. Afrika's work immediately. Unfortunately, this book is an enormous disappointment. There's a hefty amount of name-calling and blaming of black people - who are not in control of their food choices. The book is rife with misprints and typographical errors which is extremely unprofessional and makes for difficult reading. The poor editing reached new lows last week where the words "MORTALITY" and "MORALITY" are repeatedly confused. Sloppiness and lack of details have been hallmarks of this text and both continued during last week's session. Dr. Afrika referenced "anti-gravitational travel" being possible for folks with melanin. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Andre Perry. A fellow in the Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution, Dr. Perry investigates "race and structural inequality, education, and economic inclusion." An award-winning journalist and activist, his 2020 book, Know Your Price: Valuing Black Lives and Prosperity in America's Black Cities, examines how areas with high populations of black people are deliberately sabotaged. Dr. Perry's work provides evidence to shatter the racist myths that black people's moral failures and collective shiftlessness is to blame for our problems. Know Your Price focused on specific locations, Atlanta, New Orleans, Washington D.C. to name a few. Many of these cities happen to be areas where black people have been severely harmed by the Covid-19 virus. We'll ask Dr. Perry to explain why the System of White Supremacy explains why black people are being disproportionately impacted by this virus. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Memorial Day weekend for 2020 was supposed to find The C.O.W.S. enjoying Toronto spring and veggie eats north of the U.S. border. Instead... the rona. Travel remains mostly halted around the world as countries navigate paths to reopening after months of isolation and quarantine. The United States remains the most dangerous place in the world for catching Covid-19. However, Brazil now has the 3rd most cases in the world. The U.S. and Brazil have more black people than any other areas in the western hemisphere, and black people are reportedly being disproportionately impacted in both areas. White Supremacists are using the virus and accompanying confusion to justify attacks on black people. An 11-year-old black girl and her friends attempted to check the mail for her grandmother, but were violently assaulted and accused of stealing by a White Woman. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our Friday weekly forum on neutralizing Workplace Racism. A number of regions around the globe are continuing the process of allowing some business and workplaces to reopen. All areas of people activity have been disrupted, and workers in all industries are struggling to deal with daily adjustments and new safety hazards. In New Orleans, Louisiana - a location that was labeled as an early "hotspot" in the United States - sanitation workers are on strike protesting unsafe conditions and unacceptable compensation. It's reported that prisoners are now being employed to compensate for the state's sanitation needs. We'll continue to review what measures employers are taking to ensure worker safety, and we'll encourage listeners to speak up if you think you see unsafe conditions. In Texas, White entrepreneurs are defying orders to remain closed and employing armed security to ensure they remain open for business. This explosive topic has spawned decades of seminars, books and lectures. A sociology professor at California's Chapman University, Dr. Simi is a member of the "National Consortium in Studies of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) which is a university-based research center committed to the scientific study of the causes and consequences of terrorism in the United States and around the world." He also authored American Swastika: Inside the White Power Movement’s Hidden Spaces of Hate, which examines White Supremacist groups in the United States. We'll discuss reports that White Supremacists are using the Covid-19 pandemic to recruit members and spread their message of White Domination. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Marques Travae live from Brazil. Originally born in the U.S., Mr. Travae repatriated to Brazil where he operates the Black Women of Brazil blog. He researches and writes about Racism in Brazil and often contrasts the abuse of black people in South America to the daily abuse of black people in the U.S. Speaking of comparisons, the two countries with the highest death tolls from the Covid-19 crisis in the Western hemisphere are the U.S. and Brazil. The U.S. has the highest death toll in the world from the coronavirus by a sizable margin, and as of this week, Brazil had the 5th most cases of the illness globally. It's reported that black people in both regions are contracting the illness and dying at high rates.
