    The Brown Liquor Report

THE BROWN LIQUOR REPORT was birthed at the intersection of friends reuniting over heated and humorous discussion about politics and pop culture, chicken and liquor. It has quickly evolved from just an innovative way to catch up and share thoughts on hot topics, to a hot weekly podcast with an ever-growing following. It has emerged as a unique voice for Generation Xers who find themselves straddling ratchet and responsibility. It is the podcast for those who want to learn more about social justice, pop culture, and politics while enjoying the best 90’s hip hop beats and a pour of their favorite vice, free of judgment.

Ep. 67 - Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III Was An Extra In Birth of A Nation Jun 20, 2017
    Show notes

Last week, in the wake of our interview with Benny Boom and L.T. Hutton, "All Eyez On Me" was officially released in movie theaters, and the BLR crew gave a very honest review of the biopic. Also, Jeff Sessions, the second step cousin twice removed of Nathan Bedford Forrest, testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee and said absolutely nothing of substance. Also, Philando Castile's murderer was acquitted of all charges. On a lighter note, Amber Rose did it for the 'Gram by taking a boar bristle brush, some Sportin' Waves, and a stocking cap to the hairs on her lady parts. That hair was laid for the gods, y'all. Since Jeff Sessions gave us so much hilarious fodder for this episode, you should have a few cups of some bathtub gin like Beauregard's Memaw used to make back at the plantation while listening.

    Ep. 66 - Comey Don't Play That Jun 12, 2017
    Show notes

Last week, former FBI Director James Comey brought receipts to the Senate Intelligence Committee regarding his interactions with the Orange Dumpster-in-Chief, we recapped our interview with Benny Boom and L.T. Hutton, and Bill Maher is a klansman. A few cups of that Thug Passion will be a perfect accompaniment for this episode! Enjoy!

EXCLUSIVE: "All Eyez On Me" Interview with Benny Boom and L.T. Hutton Jun 06, 2017
    Show notes

The Brown Liquor Report crew traveled to Philadelphia for an exclusive interview with Benny Boom (director) and L.T. Hutton (producer) of the forthcoming biopic about the life of Tupac Shakur, "All Eyez On Me". We discussed the creative process behind the movie, some of the controversy surrounding the project, and how Benny likes his grits. All Eyez On Me will be in movie theaters across the country on June 16, Tupac's birthday! You don't want to miss it!

Ep. 65 - You Good? Part II feat. Nick Gaines May 29, 2017
    Show notes

This week, we continued our discussion on mental health with our good best friend of the show and mental health clinician/expert/jedi knight, Nick Gaines. In another attempt to demystify the stigma of mental health, especially with black folks, we spent a good amount of time breaking down and defining the different types of mental health professionals, and the length of time one should spend in therapy. We also discussed last week's continued implosion of the Trump administration. Enjoy, y'all! You good? #blacknow #mentalhealth #trump #YouGood #fixmylife #iyanla #DontStopListenListen

Ep. 64 - We're All Gonna Die In Our Rompers May 22, 2017
    Show notes

Last week, 45's administration continued their sinister plan to kill us all, but at least the menfolk will be casket sharp in their RompHims. We also discussed Vladimir Putin's excellent "chess game", Mo'Nique told Hollywood's black elite what to do with her "manhood", and we unsuccessfully attempted to get The Count to trash his ashy flip-flops now that summer is near. #podincolor #DontStopListenListen #putin #trump #podcast #blackexcellence #black #RompHIM #patreon #monique #oprah

Ep. 63 - Get Out, Betsy DeVos May 15, 2017
    Show notes

This week, Bethune-Cookman University's Class of 2017 told Mis-Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to get TF out, Press Secretary Sean Spicer hid in the bushes, and FBI Director James Comey finally got them walking papers. This week, we were joined by our good best friend, B. Fierce to rap about it all. #BCUForward #BCUSpring2K17 #Podincolor #podcast #trump #comey #DontStopListenListen

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so the BLR crew decided to revive our "Black Now" series. During the month, we'll be talking self-care, strong edges and good mental health with "You Good?" Our special guest this week was mental health clinician/expert/jedi knight, Nick Gaines. We talked about caring for our mental health while being black and our dopest selves. This week calls for a little Knob Creek Rye whiskey, so sit back, relax, and enjoy all of this educational petty we served up this week.

Ep. 59 - That Time Everybody Told Luvvie To Do Better Apr 16, 2017
    Show notes

Two days before Easter Sunday, Luvvie Ajayi attempted to resurrect her edges by apologizing for some controversial comments that she made earlier in the week regarding mixed-race activists within the movement, Donald Trump fired the biggest phallus EVER at ISIS targets in Afghanistan, United Airlines' PR team had the worst week ever, and DAMN, ain't nobody praying for Kendrick Lamar! We were joined by our good best friend B. Fierce this week to dissect it all, and since she's so damned classy, please pull out that bottle of Johnny Walker Blue label for this episode! #DontStopListenListen #awesomelyluvvie #united #moab #klamar #damn
