    The Brown Liquor Report

THE BROWN LIQUOR REPORT was birthed at the intersection of friends reuniting over heated and humorous discussion about politics and pop culture, chicken and liquor. It has quickly evolved from just an innovative way to catch up and share thoughts on hot topics, to a hot weekly podcast with an ever-growing following. It has emerged as a unique voice for Generation Xers who find themselves straddling ratchet and responsibility. It is the podcast for those who want to learn more about social justice, pop culture, and politics while enjoying the best 90’s hip hop beats and a pour of their favorite vice, free of judgment.

Ep. 97 - This Was the Blackest Black History Month in Black History Mar 06, 2018
    Show notes

Greetings listeners! We are back like we never left; celebrating the end of the best Black History Month ever! Best, as in we didn't DIE die like we predicted last year, and best because lots of dope ass, black ass stuff happened in February, and we wanted to celebrate. From Black Panther taking over the world to the African Union trying to make Wakanda for real, we looked back at the month that was. We also chuckled at Afrikaners wanting asylum from Mango Mussolini after South Africa's president promised to remove white farmers from the land, and the general foolishness of fuckery that amounted to their horrible, no good, very bad month. Glory to the Ancestors; let us pray it continues. All of this and more on this episode of the Brown Liquor Report. #DontStopListenListen #BLR #wakanda #blackpanther #safaree #rickross #maybachmusic #southafrica #africanunion #farmers #byefelicia #podcast #podcastsincolor #blackmedia #independentmedia

Ep. 96 - Whiskey and Wakanda Forever (feat. Rodd Klever) Feb 26, 2018
    Show notes

Last week, we were joined by our good friend of the show and Largo alum, Rodd Klever. Rodd Klever is a Pro-Black LGBTQ commentator who discusses sex positivity and creating a space of betterment for queer people of color. He has a brand of sexual tongue in cheek humor that creates a laugh at his expense. He has two Facebook live series that features himself and his life experiences and on his other series he features and interviews an LGBTQ brand or business of color. He also has a YouTube channel that discusses hookup culture and a website as well. Be sure to check him out! Rodd is also a blerd, and the BLR crew gave y'all a whole week to "go to Wakanda", so we break down the movie on this episode with all of the spoilers. Who would you want to visit on your journey to the ancestral plane? Are you team T'Challa or Killmonger? Does T'Challa sound like Donald Trump? What parts of the movie left us hanging? All of this and more on another dope episode of the Brown Liquor Report #wakanda #wakandaforever #blackpanther #blackcinema #amc #movies #marvel #comics #blerd #LGBTQ #whiskey #DontStopListenListen #trapbrew

Ep. 95 - Wakanda Is For the Children Feb 20, 2018
    Show notes

In case you live under a rock, the world was introduced to Wakanda and the Blacks showed out because it's in our DNA!! Folks took to the movies decked out in African garb, people had drum circles all up in the AMC, and one movie theater in Atlanta even had an oxtail cook-off during before the credits. Y'all REALLY showed out. We can't remember ever seeing anything this epic. This week, we discuss the significance of "Black Panther" without any spoilers (you have one more week!). Back in the real world, we gave our critique on Kehinde Wiley's presidential portraits and whether or not Chris Rock's new Netflix special, "Tambourine", was worth $20 million. Also, white people's president wants to alter SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) to provide recipients with a USDA food package full of food that the administration deems staples, and we're not here for it...and neither should you be. if only Wakanda were a real place? #wakanda #blackpanther #snap #obama #babjpodcast #babj #dreamvillage #podcastsincolor #podcast #DontStopListenListen #trapbrew

Ep. 94 - Quincy Jones and His Secret Garden Full of F**k S**t Feb 13, 2018
    Show notes

Hey y'all!! Even though Winter is racist, the Winter Olympics are blacker and gayer this year, and we're here for it. Not everyone is. Also, Quincy Jones went on a epic old man rant during his interview with "Vulture" last week and claimed that he dated Ivanka Trump, bashed these young kids' music, and claimed that Marlon Brando rolled in the hay with Richard Pryor. Also, Justin Timberlake got dragged for having the gall to perform during halftime at the Super Bowl next to a hologram of Prince Rogers Nelson; footsteps away from the waters of Lake Minnetonka. Oh, the caucasity!! All this and more on the latest episode of the Brown Liquor Report! #superbowl #justintimberlake #quincyjones #winterolympics #olympics #wakanda #blackhistorymonth #DontStopListenListen #trapbrew

    Ep. 92 - Oh, Happy Shutdown Jan 22, 2018
    Show notes

While we were recording this episode, we were waiting to hear whether or not the government would be shutting down. Since then, the government has shut down and reopened (at least for three more weeks). On this episode, we discussed the issues leading to the shutdown, Kanye done named his new baby Chicago, and we talked comics in preparation for Black Panther. Also, gospel great Edwin Hawkins lost his battle with pancreatic cancer last week, so we discussed the significance of his career and his most popular tune, "Oh Happy Day". Enjoy this episode with a glass of Riunute and a handful of communion wafers! #ohhappyday #gospel #crossover #comics #blackpanther #DontStopListenListen #trapbrew #PodcastsInColor #blackmedia #independentmedia #blr

Ep. 91 - The Most Ignorant Orangutan in the White House Jan 16, 2018
    Show notes

Hey listeners! Last week, H&M thought it would be a grand idea to put a black boy in a monkey shirt for one of their advertisements and they were subsequently dragged for it, our own primate-in-chief described countries with predominately black and brown populations "shitholes", Stedman Graham is already coordinating with his tailor regarding his red, white, and blue sequins sport jacket with the elbow patches for the campaign trail, Dr. Prince of Pan-Africanism Umar Ifatunde Johnson went to court without a lawyer because he doesn't have malpractice insurance, and all of the episodes of Living Single are streaming on Hulu. We also discussed Serena Williams' near-death experience during labor and how her experience is connected to this country's history of mistreating black female patients. Enjoy! #oprah2020 #oprah #harpo #mscelie #beloved #own #h&m #monkeygate #panafricanism #livingsingle #hulu #DontStopListenListen #TrapBrew #orangutan #stedman #PodcastsInColor #blackmedia #independentmedia #reparations #shithole

Ep. 89 - Gather 'Round Here, Chirren (feat. Chuck Hayward) Dec 27, 2017
    Show notes

Hey listeners! Last week, we were joined for the second time by our good friend, Chuck Hayward. Chuck is a Hollywood writer, and is probably best known for his amazing work on Netflix's "Dear White People". We had a healthy discussion about film-to-series projects, and we talked about the elements pertinent to making these projects palatable and entertaining for the viewer. We also discussed our favorite shows that were based on movies, and so much more in this 2-hour gem! It's obvious that we had an absolute ball taping with Chuck. Enjoy this episode with a glass of Blanton's Single Barrel; neat! #netflix #hollywood #television #netflixandchill #podcastsincolor #shesgottahaveit #podsincolor #podcast #blackmedia #spikelee

    Ep. 88 - Bye, Omarosa! Dec 18, 2017
    Show notes

Last week, the White House fired their Token Black Person-In-Chief, Omarosé Onée Manigault-Newman (or as Black Aunt Viv affectionately calls her: Niggerosa), and the tea is that she acted an entire donkey when asked to leave. Roy Moore also lost a pivotal race in Alabama for the US Senate, and a racist white boy named Keaton raised over $50K on GoFundMe after some of his peers apparently put their proverbial shoes to his hind parts for being a racist, and Cardi B and Offset might be the cutest ratchet ever! #gofundme #cardib #offset #blackauntviv #keaton #omarosa #trump #whitehouse #raymoore #alabama #dougjones #podcastsincolor #podcast #blackmedia #trapbrew
