BBAS015: Attack with guest Ed Syder Sep 18, 2022

Show notes

Welcome back to The Bones Brigade Audio Show! This week, Larry and Matt sit down with UK-based artist Ed Syder to chat about yet another video that has flown mostly under the radar of the skateboarding public at large- the 1989 Stacy Peralta/Tim Simenon video, Attack. Alternately known as Skate Attack, or Videola, or Attack Videola, this short oddity of a video didn’t see a US release but made a big splash across the pond, mashing together tons of amazing unseen Powell Peralta video footage with a late-eighties dance club soundtrack and rapid-fire editing. A skate video? An art project? A test of human endurance? You decide! We also talk with Ed about his new Thrasher t-shirt design about to drop, and dip into the mailbag to hear what you, the listeners, have for us this week. Join us, shall you?

BBAS010: Daniel Gesmer (Intelligence Report Vol. 1) Jul 10, 2022

Show notes

This week we are rolling out a brand new feature here at the Bones Brigade Audio Show: the Intelligence Report series! Intelligence Reports are standalone interview episodes that we will be interspersing with our usual video review episodes in an effort to bring you, the wall-jammer, more content and fun things to fill your ears with. To that end, we could not be more excited to bring you our first ever BBAS:IR guest, the one and only Daniel Gesmer! Daniel has what is undoubtedly one of the most memorable parts in any Powell-Peralta video, albeit for reasons that are quite different from most other memorable skate video parts. Dan sat down with Larry and Matt to talk in great detail about how his feature in Public Domain came to be, his background and passion for freestyle skateboarding, his contest days, and his current gig developing high-end skateboard products for his company, Seismic Skate Systems. In addition to that, we’ll be reading some letters from the mailbag and checking out a brand new tune from Mike Vallely’s latest music project. So glide and turn on over to your favorite internet radio station, pop on your headphones and join us, shall you?

BBAS009: Bones Brigade World Tour '89 Jun 26, 2022

Show notes

Welcome back! On this oddball episode of The Bones Brigade Audio Show, Larry and Matt sit down to chat about the not-so-widely-known Bones Brigade World Tour ’89 promotional video. Unlike its spiritual predecessor, Axe Rated, this short and sweet video did not get any sort of commercial release, and was only made available via VHS to select skate shops in limited numbers to build anticipation and hype for the now-legendary 1989 Powell-Peralta World Tour. Luckily, it’s available to watch online, so feel free to set your social media VCRs and follow along as we navigate this sixteen-minute skateboarding rarity. Join us, shall you?
