    The Bible Journey Daily Podcast

Why not make studying the Bible part of the rhythm of your daily life? The Bible Journey Daily Podcast is a 10-year plan to study through the entire Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. Season one is a short overview of each of the sixty-six books of the Bible. Season two launched our expositional journey through the whole Bible, beginning with the book of Genesis. Thereafter, each season takes a New Testament/Old Testament alternatively until the project is complete. (God willing)  Why not join me on this exciting journey as we study the whole Bible together from Genesis to Revelation?

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him. (Matthew 16: 24-25)

    Introduction.

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matthew 16: 24-25)

    The Requirements of Discipleship.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me”. (Matthew 16: 24)
    Exchanging Our Soul.

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16: 25-26)

27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. (Matthew 16: 27)

    I. Introduction.

21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. 22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” 23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” (Matthew 16: 21-23)

The Feeding of the 5000 (Matthew 14: 13-21)

    I. Compassion And Power.

13 When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.” 16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” 17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” 18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Another Way Jesus Treats People (Matthew 16: 5-12)

    I. Introduction.

5 Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. 6 Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.” 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.” 8 But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because youhave brought no bread? 9 Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? 10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up? 11 How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees. (Matthew 16: 5-12)

You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed. The Feeding of the 4000 or the 5000 Which is it?

    I. Have ever forgotten something important?
Just this week I forgot I had a meeting with my accountant. It seems like nearly every day I forget where I last put my car keys. Any of you ever posted a letter and forgot to put a stamp on it? I know someone men who had an appointment at the memory clinic and forgot to go. If heard stories of people who left their child at the shopping centre, they got to the car in the car park and realised you’ve forgotten one. Some of you may remember about 10 years ago David Cameron the then Prime Minister of GB went for a Sunday lunch to his local pub and left one of his children behind. The pub rang him at home and said come back for you child.

We’ve all forgotten things that were important, but we also do that spiritually we have a tendency to forget vital spiritual truths that we should remember and not remembering can be detrimental to our spiritual lives. What surprises me about myself as well as others it’s not just that we forget it’s how soon we forget even something important.

What would it take for us to remember stuff we’re supposed to remember. I sometimes wonder if Jesus were just here and if he did a dramatic enough miracle would we even forget that. I am afraid to say human nature says we actually might. Let me tell you a story in the Bible that illustrates this point and lets see what we can learn about not only what the miracle means, but also what the Bibles tells us about how soon we forget.

    II. Feeding the Four Thousand

32 Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”33 Then His disciples said to Him, “Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?” 34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few little fish.” 35 So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude. 37 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left. 38 Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. 39 And He sent away the multitude, got into the boat, and came to the region of Magdala. (Matthew 15: 32-39)
