    The Bible Journey Daily Podcast

Why not make studying the Bible part of the rhythm of your daily life? The Bible Journey Daily Podcast is a 10-year plan to study through the entire Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. Season one is a short overview of each of the sixty-six books of the Bible. Season two launched our expositional journey through the whole Bible, beginning with the book of Genesis. Thereafter, each season takes a New Testament/Old Testament alternatively until the project is complete. (God willing)  Why not join me on this exciting journey as we study the whole Bible together from Genesis to Revelation?

Jesus Cleanses the Temple. (Matthew 21: 12-17)

    I. Introduction.

Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.” Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read,

‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
    You have perfected praise’?”

Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and He lodged there. (Matthew 21: 12-17)

The Beginning of The Final Act. (Matthew 21: 1-11)
21 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.” 4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:

5 “Tell the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’”

6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. 8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:

“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
    Hosanna in the highest!”

10 And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?” 11 So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”

The Blind See (Matthew 20: 29-34)

Two Blind Men Receive Their Sight

Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.”So, Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him. (Matthew 20: 29-34)

Who is the Greatest (Matthew 20:17-28)

Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection

Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.” (Matthew 20: 17-19)

    False and True Ambition

Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him. And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.” But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him, “We are able.” So He said to them, “You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.” And when the ten heard it, they were greatly displeased with the two brothers. But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave, just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20: 20-28)

    The Last Shall Be First

The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard
“The first shall be last and the last shall be first”. (Matthew 19: 30)

“1 For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So, they went. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.’ 8 “So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’ 9 And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius. 11 And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner, 12 saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’ 13 But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?’ 16 So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.” (Matthew 20: 1-16)

    Introduction.

27 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore, what shall we have?” 28 So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, and you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first. Did Jesus Contradict Himself. (Matthew 19: 16-26).

    Introduction.

16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” 17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but God, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to Him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ 19 ‘Honour your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ ” 20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19: 16-26)

Bonus Episode - The Real Saint Patrick. (Episode 494) Mar 17, 2023
    Show notes

    HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY.
This is a free taster Episode of the Forthcoming 2000 Years of Christian Thought Podcast series - coming soon.
    The Real Saint Patrick.
Saint Patrick is an important figure in Christian history who continues to be celebrated by Christians around the world today. He was a fifth-century missionary and church leader who is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. Saint Patrick's life and teachings offer valuable lessons that are still relevant to Christians today.

One of the reasons Saint Patrick is still important today is his commitment to spreading the gospel message. He believed that everyone, regardless of their social status or background, deserved to hear about the love of God. This message is still relevant today, as Christians are still called to share the good news of Jesus with those around them.

Patrick's life also offers a model of Christian faithfulness in the face of hardship. He endured many challenges and trials throughout his life, including being kidnapped and enslaved as a teenager. Despite these difficulties, Patrick remained steadfast in his faith and continued to spread the gospel message wherever he went. Christians today can draw inspiration from his example to remain faithful to God even in the midst of difficult circumstances.

Finally, Saint Patrick's legacy is a reminder of the importance of cultural diversity within the Christian faith. He recognized the value of Irish culture and incorporated elements of it into his teachings. Today, we are called to embrace and appreciate the diversity of cultures within the church and to recognize the value that each unique perspective brings to the body of Christ.

Welcome to the life of the real Saint Patrick

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” And He laid His hands on them (which means he probably verbally blessed them and prayed for them) and departed from there. Introduction.

His disciples said to Him, “If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry.”But He said to them, “All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given. For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.” (Matthew 19: 10-12)
