Ep. 455: It's Not Your Fault (But It Is Your Responsibility) Jan 18, 2024
    Show notes

Shitty things happen to us all the time, and while it’s never your fault when someone wrongs you, it is your responsibility to heal from it. No amount of wishing or righteous anger undoes the past, and no amount of trying to understand “why” bad things happen, will take away the pain. Sometimes, you’re just left to pick up the pieces alone. But if you’re able to practice that emotional resiliency, you’ll be light years ahead of everyone else. You’ll be a healing ninja.

It’s not your fault but it is your problem [2:27]

No one else can fix your hurts for you [4:24]

The past can never be undone [7:57]

There is power in emotional resiliency [9:58]

Letting go of your ego [11:40]

    Righteous anger [17:22]

Taking responsibility isn’t blaming yourself [19:52]

Having empathy for the victimizer [22:03]

More information doesn’t make it feel better [27:13]

Ep. 454: Practicing Digital Modesty Jan 13, 2024
    Show notes

We don’t have the shiniest of social media reputations—if you saw what we were up to in 2017 and 2018, no you didn’t—but nowadays we tend to practice a little more “digital modesty.” For us, we just aren’t up to as much mischief as we once were, but there are some who use their digital modesty to seem more appealing to potential romantic partners. There’s definitely something to be said about attracting the kind of person you are, and with social media being so present in everyone’s lives, there’s not much hiding you can do. Are you practicing digital modesty?

Practicing digital modesty to find a partner [5:17]

Ep. 453: The Lack of Integrity in Internet Marketing Jan 10, 2024
    Show notes

Look we’re marketers, so we know all the tips and tricks being used in modern marketing. Try as we might to be upon front and honest with our marketing practices, there are still tons of people out in the world making sales in less than integrous ways. And while we’d love it for everyone to be up-front about the products that they sell, unfortunately assholes will always be asshole, scammers will always be scammers, and it’s up to us to decide what’s a good investment or not. Snake oil salesmen are nothing new, and the only way to beat them is not to fall for their tricks in the first place.

The catharsis in talking about “it” [2:54]

Invest in yourself (and also me) [9:54]

You need to walk your walk [13:24]

Believing in the value you provide [17:30]

Investing in yourself looks many different ways [19:29]

If you’ve ever thought about starting an online business, you need a way to make yourself stand out from the crowd. We all know someone with the “it-factor” but is that something that people are simply born with, or can it be taught? We think it can! There are so many voices and personalities online, and the best way to truly stand out is just to be yourself! People can sense authenticity, and as long as you lean in to what makes you, well… YOU… you’ll always stand out.

    Finding your SWEET Spot [5:00]

    Getting your reps in [7:18]

You don’t always end up where you think you will [12:17]

Ep. 450: Be The Bigger Person (Even When You Don't Want To) Dec 29, 2023
    Show notes

As much as we all love being petty (and you know we’re good at it, too) there is something to be said about being the “bigger person.” While the un-evolved versions of ourselves might like pointing out when Brenda is acting like an idiot, that kind of negativity never brought out the best in anyone. Whether you realize it or not, people are looking to you to see how you act. Are you proud of the way you handle conflict? Do you respond to situations rather than react? Maybe it’s less “fun” tone the bigger person, but the way we show up in conflict matters.

Are you obligated to be the “bigger person”? [2:56]

What would the most-evolved you do? [6:09]

    What’s your long-term goal? [7:03]

Are you proud of the words you say? [9:19]

Standing up for yourself vs. lashing out [14:01]

The moments between feeling and acting [17:07]

Being mindful about who’s eyes are on you [19:45]

Ep. 449: What Are Your Core Values? Dec 27, 2023
    Show notes

Our value systems are deeply personal and influence almost everything we do in our lives. We all have core values, whether they’re obvious to us or not. Getting clear on what our values are can help us find direction in work, play, love, and life. It’s often said that you teach people how to treat you, and with a defined set of values, you get to set the tone for your interactions and future choices. Not all things in this life can be important, and when you know what your core values are, you have the freedom to focus on what really matters to you.

    Why are values important? [1:59]

Your values guide your expectations and your business [5:55]

It’s nice to know what you stand for [8:39]

Some questions to help you understand your own value system [10:22]

You have to define what your values really mean to you [13:13]

    What are your anti-values? [15:21]

Running tough decisions through your core values [17:36]

Not everything can be important all the time [21:27]

Ep. 448: What the Hell Are We Supposed to Wear? Dec 23, 2023
    Show notes

One thing the holidays bring about are those damn holiday parties, and what’s even worse than having to go to a work holiday party is choosing an outfit for them—what the hell does “smart casual” even mean?! Then, of course, you have to layer on what your parter is wearing too. Should you coordinate outfits? Will they dress too casually and embarrass you? If they show up looking sloppy, how does that reflect on you? The way we see it, the more direction we can get, the better, just as long as we get to wear what makes us the most comfortable.

Who can keep up with all the dress codes? [2:46]

Do you care what your partner wears? [5:39]

Dressing sexy for your man [8:44]

    For or against matching? [11:26]

    Vague dress code requirements [12:49]

    Wedding color requirements [14:26]

    Giving direction, without control [17:30]

The more details, the better [21:23]

Ep. 447: Have You Ever Been a "Rehab" Girlfriend? Dec 20, 2023
    Show notes

Have you ever had a partner so rough around the edges that they need some rehabilitation to be a passable partner, only for the relationship to end and all the work you put in goes to benefit some other woman? We’ve fallen for the project-boyfriend more times than we’re proud of, but there’s nothing more bitter-sweet (and a little bit rage-inducing) than watching your ex go be a better partner for someone else using all the things you taught them. It happens to the best of us, but if you keep falling for the same types of men, hate to say it, but it might be a you problem 😳

    The rehabilitation girlfriend [9:59]

The bittersweet feeling of being changed by your relationship [23:35]

Trusting men to fail and figure things out [24:55]

Most men aren’t great at communicating feelings [28:42]

You might have a picking problem [32:25]

Ep. 446: Your Partner's Previous Relationship Experiences Dec 16, 2023
    Show notes

We’ve talked about feeling insecure over your partner’s ex relationships before—and believe us, it’s normal to feel that way—but there’s another layer of insecurity and jealousy to work though when it comes to the different traditions and milestones they experienced together. Your partner can’t undo the past and they can’t un-experience the things they have, so don’t hold it against them. Just because your partner went to a certain restaurant or did a certain activity in their past, doesn’t make it meaningless and un-special when they do it with you. Getting stuck in the jealousy spiral only hurts one person: YOU!

Feeling insecure about your partner’s ex [2:20]

Making new meaning and traditions [5:24]

Your partner can’t undo the past, don’t hold it against them [8:48]

    Self-sabotaging your own happiness [12:51]

Realize that your partner is picking YOU [14:06]

Comparison is the thief of joy [15:53]
