190 | Battling Spiritual Resistance When All Hell Breaks Loose with Teresa Whiting May 25, 2023
    Show notes

I hate to burst your bubble, but whenever you step out in obedience to God, all hell breaks loose. That is exactly what happened when my guest embarked on writing her Bible study for sexually broken women: Graced: How God Redeems and Restores the Broken. Today, I welcome back my friend Teresa Whiting for Part 2 of our 2-part conversation where we talk about what to do when you encounter spiritual resistance. Teresa shared some solid truths about herself and others through writing this study. We discuss our mutual aversion toward a thing that appears on both of our To-Don't Lists. And Teresa encourages the woman who feels sexually broken today. For show notes visit https://thescooponbalance.com/190

Wine Mom Culture is the pervasive phenomenon that hails wine as the preferred coping mechanism for parenting stress and the ultimate way to unwind and connect with friends. Often promoted through humorous memes and merchandise, this messaging has produced a generation of moms who struggle with drinking. Today I welcome back to the podcast Dana Bowman, an Author of 2 books, a speaker, a writing Instructor, and a mom in recovery. 185 | How to Be Sober in a Wine Mom Culture with Dana Bowman, Part 1 Apr 20, 2023
    Show notes

In the 1990s a very specific marketing campaign emerged to target women, advertising sweet, pink, beautiful alcoholic drinks and showing women happy consuming alcohol in social situations. A few years later hilariously clever memes showed up on Facebook hailing wine as the preferred coping mechanism for parenting stress. And it was wildly successful: In the last 15 years, the greatest increase in alcohol consumption has been in women in their 30s and 40s...1 in 5 women struggle with alcohol use. Today I welcome to the podcast Dana Bowman, an author of 2 books, a speaker, a writing Instructor, and a mom in recovery. She is here to discuss with me the whole concept of the Wine Mom Culture. Show notes

I have been thinking about getting old a LOT lately. I’ll be 55 this year…my body continues to change, my skin looks a little saggy, and I’m drifting further and further away from pop culture and what young people think is cool. Evidenced by the fact that I still say “cool.” But one of the undeniable benefits of growing older is developing spiritual maturity. What does spiritual maturity look like? That’s what we are talking about today when I give you four signs of spiritual maturity according to the Apostle Paul. Listen in. For show notes visit https://thescooponbalance.com/184
