Is it too risky to wildcard for GW21? Dec 31, 2021
    Show notes

The FPL General is here with his last podcast of 2021 ahead of the New Year's Day fixtures. The New Year also brings with it the ability to play your second wildcard and the General has his thoughts on whether you should play it straight away, plus these questions answered:

    • Is it worth planning or still live gameweek by gameweek?
    • With the Ben Crellin's predictions looking a little underwhelming for DGW22, should our plan be to use transfers to prepare? Or attack it with wildcards and free hits?
    • Is it risky to wildcard in GW21 for a Bench Boost in Gameweek 22 with all the postponements at the moment?
    • If you are on a wildcard for gw21, what are some key players that are must haves?
    • What do we do with Bernardo Silva?
    • Replacements for Reece James?
    • Goalkeeper strategy? It’s time to move on from Ramsdale, right? De Gea or Lloris? Should we have 2 playing goalies?
    • Is it worth a hit to upgrade to Son from Gallagher if we are planning on downgrading James?
    • Is now a good time to ship off Smith-Rowe?
    • Is the Ronaldo and Kane double up on, if you want to differentiate from going away from Son with the latter due to his high ownership?

Festive Fixtures Preview Dec 21, 2021
    Show notes

The Premier League is set to continue throughout the Christmas period despite the ongoing COVID concerns, so the FPL General is here to get you ready for what will hopefully be a busy period of festive fixtures. There's the usual watchlist update, captaincy advice plus these questions answered:

    • If one still holds the first wildcard, when is the best to play it, GW19 or GW20?
    • Is it time to dump double Chelsea defence?
    • Is big at the back still a viable strategy? If so, who are the preferred players?
    • Is it too much of a knee jerk transfer to get Son in?
    • Is Bernardo Silva a hold?
    • With Martinelli emerging as another midfield asset, can we go without a Man City midfielder given the rotation risks and stick to nailed assets like Son, Mount, Raphinha etc?
    • Is it time to sell ESR or will his game time improve?
    • Do we target Ronaldo this gameweek?
    • Assuming Salah is your captain, best options for vice-captain if a game is postponed?
    • Should we be starting to plan transfers towards potential upcoming DGWs, or stick with week-by-week reactionary transfers given COVID disruption?

Navigating the covid uncertainty Dec 17, 2021
    Show notes

With an increasing number of Premier League games being postponed due to covid cases, the FPL General tries his best to navigate his way through the uncertainty and assess the most sensible approach for your FPL team right now

    • With the current situation, would you use any free transfers to try and get as many players out as possible or roll them for whenever things become a little clearer?
    • Would you or are you considering Free Hit?
    • How many hits are worth taking to field a playing 11?
    • What is the best strategy for getting through a Covid filled winter?
    • Do we try to keep some blanking players due to future DGWs?
    • Is Antonio to Watkins now the most no-brainer transfer in FPL history?
    • Is it still worth getting Mason Mount into my FPL team, given he's one of the few options still playing.
    • Is KDB worth a punt?
    • Best replacements for Livramento?
    • What's the point? It feels like what you do you're damned if you do or damned if you don't.

    • Is big at the back turning into big in midfield?
    • Silva, Foden or Gundogan?

Time to bring in Ronaldo ahead of Man Utd's appealing fixtures? Dec 03, 2021

    • With most premium defenders getting 2 points or less, is big at the back no more?
    • What are your thoughts on Alonso?
    • What to do with Kane? Switch to Ronaldo for United’s great run or downgrade to be able to spread the cash around more?
    • Given Man City's fixtures, which players should we consider transferring in?
    • Dennis or King?
    • What to do with Antonio? Hold or sell?
    • Should we be considering the Liverpool double up and finding room for Robertson in a back 4 or 5?
    • What to do with Bryan Mbuemo?
    • Should I go for B.Silva or Mount to replace Zaha?
    • Are you enjoying the fact Salah is almost a perma-captain for most given you've often said removing captaincy is the first change you'd make to FPL?

FPL Friday: Solutions for replacing Chilwell Nov 26, 2021
    Show notes

The FPL General is here with team news ahead of gameweek 13, plus there's transfer advice, his team reveal and these pressing questions answered:

    • Do you think Alonso is going to start in place of chilwell?
    • In light of the Chilwell news, is Dias to Alonso worth the transfer if you already own the other big 3 wing backs?
    • Assuming Chilwell is injured, is the best back 4 now: TAA, Cancelo, James and Alonso?
    • With Antonio off form and Reece James ripping it up, is a -4 using funds from Antonio to upgrade Tierney to James a good move?
    • After blanking in 3 games, is it viable to sell Foden and bring in a cheaper midfielder like Cornet or Gallagher in order to go big at the back?
    • Son to Jota?
    • Is Zaha a keep or a sell?
    • Do you think Benteke will keep up his recent form?
    • Given the circumstances, do you think playing 4/5 defenders, 4/5 midfielders and 1 up front is the way to go now, at least for a while?
    • As a Manchester United fan, what do you think of the new manager? Will it affect your FPL decisions?

Do we go for the Chelsea triple defence plus Trent and Cancelo? Nov 23, 2021
    Show notes

With an action-packed gameweek 12 in the books the FPL General is here to assess the damage and get you ready to go again at the weekend. He's got a watchlist update, transfer and captaincy advice, plus answers to these questions:

    • If 5 at the back is a genuine option, can we say the Chelsea defensive triple is viable, along with Trent and Cancelo?
    • Is Dias to Chilwell a good transfer?
    • Antonio has 23 points from his last 9 gameweeks. What striker do we go for now?
    • Best under 6.5 forwards? Is Dennis the obvious choice?
    • Should we trust the fixtures and keep Vardy or just sell him because he is a 2 pts player too frequently recently?
    • How essential are Son and Kane when we could double up on the Chelsea wing backs for half the price instead?
    • Are there any decent replacements for Mbeumo around the same price?
    • Is Raphinha a hold? Or time to move to Jota if he’s fit?
    • Can we now start to look at Bernardo Silva as a legitimate option?
    • Is it wise to take an 8 or 12 point hit to steady the ship if my team is a mess, wildcard is played and I'm way down the rankings?
