https://www.rockethub.com/projects/61988-support-the-art-of-photography-artist-series We are in the home stretch to fund the Artist Series! There's still time to get involved and help me out - check out the link above. You guys are amazing - we've raised over $12,000 so far which has overshot the original goal by 247 percent! So what does this mean? It means I'll put all of the money into the series. This means more videos, it improves the range of people we could possibly get for the Artist Series. It also will allow for international travel. If you've thought about donating but haven't yet - please do it before we close the campaign! Henri Cartier-Bresson :: The Decisive Moment Oct 31, 2015

Show notes

Considering the release date of this video, I thought I'd cover a topic appropriate for the season - Photography and the Occult. There was an extreme period of occult photography that was produced from the 1870's to about the 1930's. Gimmicks and techniques were used into fooling people that the supernatural was somehow being photographed (quite consistently I might add). This period of history can typically be organized into 3 categories: Photography of Spirits, Photography of Fluids and Photography of Mediums. In this video we will have a look at the occult and how photography played a roll in the theater of the supernatural. The Artist Series crowdfunding campaign: https://www.rockethub.com/projects/61988-support-the-art-of-photography-artist-series I got some packages in the mail from viewers today - including John Free! I've always been a big fan of Richard Thompson and never realized that John made the photograph that was used for the cover of Small Town Romance. I've always loved that image. I asked John about it and he sent me a print. Also featured is Antoine Leblond. You can view more of his work including the beautiful train images from Japan on his website: http://donotcompute.jp/ And thanks to Gene at KBCovers for the nice gift of keyboard shortcut covers! http://kbcovers.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/tedforbes Instagram: http://instagram.com/tedforbes Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aop.podcast Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/tedforbes Website: http://theartofphotography.tv And get on our mailing list to stay up to date on photography news and the latest episodes: http://theartofphotography.tv/about/mailing-list/ Ted Forbes The Art of Photography 3100 Main St #135 Dallas, Texas 75226 Thanks for watching - if you like this video, remember to share it with your friends! http://fundaop.com One of the things I’ve been working on over the last year is the new Artists Series. The first in this series was completed and release last month. It is a documentary on Los Angeles-based photographer, John Free. I’m moving forward with this series, but I need your help. The next video is crucial to the development of the series – the types of photographers I’ll be able to feature, the locations I’ll be able to do them in and the overall quality of what I will be able to present. Please visit the project funding page for more details. http://fundaop.com Twitter: http://twitter.com/tedforbes Instagram: http://instagram.com/tedforbes Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aop.podcast Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/tedforbes Website: http://theartofphotography.tv And get on our mailing list to stay up to date on photography news and the latest episodes: http://theartofphotography.tv/about/mailing-list/ Ted Forbes The Art of Photography 3100 Main St #135 Dallas, Texas 75226 Thanks for watching - if you like this video, remember to share it with your friends!
