    Too Much - a collaboration Oct 22, 2018
    Show notes

After the huge response from one of our most popular episodes, "Too-Muchness" I wanted to open up the platfrom to our listeners so that they could share their own stories. This collaboration blew me away. In a world where, as women, we are continually getting the underlying message to " be small" and adhere to a norm that has us being less than we could be, the "you're too much" trigger is one that I felt was really important to hghlight. When a woman is told what she's doing or how she's behaving is "too much" I believe it's part of a bigger systemic issue. Without "too-much" there are no new ideas, new conversations, or growth. There are just old ways of being, old patterns as well as pushed down feelings and potential. In this episode we explore all of that and with the help of our listener's contributions as well as the thoughts and experiences of our previous guests, we can see how insidious this seemingly benign phrase can be to a woman's spirit. From marriage, to family, to relationships at work and with other men and women, these stories help to illustrate the box this term puts us in and why it's time to stop tolerating it. Our job is to be who we are, and being "too-much" is a huge part of moving the collective needle forward. From our emotions, and personalities, to our talents and dreams...my call to action for you is to keep being too much. Every. Single. Day. We need you. I'd like to thank every single one of you for being a part of this and helping me to have this conversation. A huge shout out to Liz Vetrano, Caitlin Marcoux, Stephanie Perrotti, Robyn Stockdale, Michelle DaRin, Chantal Erasmus, Kim Boyle, and Shawn Cheshire for their contributions and support. It doesn’t have to be that hard Oct 19, 2018

Look, my friends: I promise you it doesn't have to be so hard. You don't have to beat the shit out of yourself to make progress. I see people "hate fuck" exercise and diet stuff all the time, and I'll tell you: from the bottom of my heart- it doesn't work long term, and it's probably why you've struggled with it so much. I usually don't like to dealve too much into wellness stuff on the podcast, but I felt like it needed to be spoken to. The fitness industry monetizes the fact that 1) you don't know the science of what really works and 2) that you likely feel bad about yourself. Spoiler alert: the most effective fitness and diet protocol for you is the one you can stick to long term. Keto? Weight Watchers? Whole 30? Crossfit? Barre? HiiT, Kickboxing? Orange Theory? DOESN'T MATTER. Here's the bottom line: Be consistent, slow and steady wins it and make sure you LIFT WEIGHTS. You're welcome. Love you guys. xoxo Audio Clip from James Smith: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo5mtXBntxS/?taken-by=jamessmithpt Interested in Coaching? www.thealchemycoaching.com Email me here:Trishlaw@syracusefhc.com Fill out my google intake form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/18NGZsl7t6YNpOsWRnYw9KG8cID0MG1T3Zh3H7lPE7wo/edit#responses

Knowing your value Oct 12, 2018
    Show notes

"The world is filled with people who, no matter what you do, will point blank not like you. But it is also filled with those who will love you fiercley. They are your people. You are not for everything and that’s OK. Talk to the people who can hear you. Don’t waste your precious time and gifts trying to convince them of your value, they won’t ever want what you’re selling. Don’t convince them to walk alongside you. You’ll be wasting both your time and theirs and will likely inflict unnecessary wounds, which will take precious time to heal. You are not for them and they are not for you; politely wave them on and continue along your way. Sharing your path with someone is a sacred gift; don’t cheapen it by rolling yours in the wrong direction" -Rebecca Campbell What's your value? Do you know? How often do you advocate for it, or do an assessment of it? As they say, you can't fill from a empty cup, and you can't put your value in the hands of others for appraisal. It's something you have to do yourself. It has to come from you. Once you're clear on it, and you stand by it...you'll be amazed how it translates not only to business and work - but also to your relationships and even your physical and spiritual practices. Understanding the power you hold when you know your value is probably one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Intersested in coaching? Definition of scarcity : the quality or state of being scarce especially, want of provisions for the support of life What happens when we operate of a a scarcity mindset and what is the impact? What ways does it show up? Is it more than mindset? Is it a time management issue? An old belief system? A way to gain control or certainty? This mindset can show up in relationships, business, and is especially present in competition, comparison, and feelings of "lack." What's the opposite of scarcity? Is it abundance or simply " enough? Jason Bridges - Bike tours, Baristas, Selectboard and E.Q. Oct 01, 2018
    Show notes

So excited to introduce to you my friend Jason Bridges for this week's guest episode. I met with Jason on a cold, drizzly early September day on Nantucket Island in a cozy upstairs office above one of his businesses, The Handlebar Cafe - right off of Main Street in the heart of town. We cover so much in this episode - from how he manages two businesses, a six-month old baby girl named Eloise, holding space for his marriage as well as his seat on the Nantucket Selectboard. We dig into how a devastating accident, which lead to a brain injury and subsequent brain damage, turned from a curse into one of his best blessings. How empathy and emotional intelligence have been true gifts in not only compensating for what he lost in that incident, but also how it has allowed him to give back to others. Please enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z0asInbu24 https://nantucketbybike.com/meet-your-guides/ https://handlebar-cafe.business.site https://www.nantucket-ma.gov/192/Select-Board

    Your "Representative" Sep 28, 2018
    Show notes

We all have at least one. Maybe a few depending on our situations. "The Representative." The part of our personality that we "hire" to step in and take care of things when we don't feel brave enough to show up totally as ourselves. Some people would call it your ego or your "avatar" and I call it The Representative. Glennon Doyle speaks to it in her book, 'Love Warrior' also. This part of ourselves is there to control a situation or help us to feel safe and protected. It serves a purpose for sure, but how often is your Representaive running the show? Sometimes The Representaive is used so often that we can't figure out where it ends and we begin. If you can figure out who your Representive is, you can decide if it's still serving who you want to be. If it isn't, maybe it's time to give it the pink slip. Take a listen. Robyn Stockdale - Rockstar, Creative Director, Spirit Junkie Sep 17, 2018

So excited to introduce you to my dear friend Robyn Stockdale. You can find her at Robynstockdale.com and explore some of her creative projects from videography, to photography and how she uses her skills in creative project managment. As an artist and singer herself, she has a gift for taking a creative idea from the first spark to completion in her unique way. We go all over the place on this one from branding and business cards to being "too much" and a tom boy growing up all the way up to her spiritual journey. The big takeaway for me, is Robyn's perspective on how people can act as a mirror for things inside you that need attention. Such a mindblowing and life changing concept. She works closely with the Center of Grace in Manlius (centerofgraceny.com) where you can learn more, and you can also see her September 23rd at 6pm for the Icons and Idols event where all proceeds will benefit Opheliasplace.org. The Comparison Complex Sep 15, 2018
    Show notes

Comparison is the thief of joy, right? So why do we engage with it so much? It causes pain and even worse moves us away from who we really are. We talk today about that and the difference between two types of motivation: Intrinsic and Extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation is the kind where you do something because it feels right to you and for you, where extrinsic motivation is when you do something based on something outside of yourself like acceptance, approval from others or monetarty gains. It's inherently obvious that comparsion is a big issue, but just because it's obvious doesn't mean that it's not important to highlight. I hope this one helps you to explore how you'tre motivated and choose the type that moves you closer to who you're meant to be.
